USS Missouri, a 45,000 ton Iowa class battleship built by the New York Navy Yard, was commissioned on 11 June 1944. She spent the remainder of that year preparing for combat, transiting to the Pacific in November. Arriving in the war zone in January 1945, Missouri supported the Iwo Jima invasion, the Ryukyus campaign and raids on Japan's home islands during the following months. In May, she became Third Fleet flagship and was the site of the 2 September 1945 Japanese surrender ceremony that ended World War II.
Following the end of hostilities, Missouri returned to the United States, participating in a great naval review at New York in October 1945. In March 1946, she went to the Mediterranean on a diplomatic mission. Through the rest of the 1940s and into 1950, the battleship operated extensively in the Atlantic area. She was the centerpiece of a major grounding incident off Hampton Roads, Virginia, in January 1950 but was quickly repaired and returned to service.
Missouri was the only U.S. battleship on active duty in June 1950, when the Korean War began, and made two combat deployments to the Western Pacific. Following that action, and several training cruises to Europe, she decommissioned in February 1955. For the next three decades, she was in reserve at Bremerton, Washington, and became an important tourist attraction.
All four Iowa class battleships were reactivated in the 1980s, with Missouri recommissioning in May 1986. Her next six years were busy ones, including, among other activities, a cruise around the World and a combat role in the 1991 Persian Gulf War. She decommissioned for the last time in March 1992. Stricken from the Naval Vessel Register in 1995, Missouri was transferred to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, in June 1998 to become a memorial.

The USS Missouri (the "Mighty Mo") proudly rides at anchor in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, next to the USS Arizona Memorial, the two marking the beginning and the end of World War II. The USS Missouri Memorial opened January 29, 1999 and is one of the most popular attractions in Hawaii. One cannot fail to be deeply moved by the historic significance of this great ship. She was the last battleship ever built and the biggest. She is almost 900 feet long and over 100 feet in beam and more than 200 feet in height. Each link in the 1,200-foot long chains of her two anchors weighs over 100 pounds. 17 inches of solid steel protect her citadel from which the ship's operations were directed during battle. But even greater than her physical size is the size of her place in American history.
On the deck of the USS Missouri on September 2, 1945, General Douglas MacArthur accepted Japan's surrender, thereby ending World War II. And after World War II, the USS Missouri fought again in Korea and in Operation Desert Storm. The USS Missouri was launched on January 29, 1944, commissioned on June 11 of the same year, and reported for duty to the Third Fleet in Pearl Harbor on Christmas Eve 1944. She became the flagship for Admiral William "Bull" Halsey and was an important part of the war in the Pacific, assisting in the bombing raids over Tokyo and providing firepower in the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. She was first decommissioned in 1955 after action in Korea.
In 1986 she was modernized, recommissioned, and sent on a tour around the world. Then in 1991, she was sent to the Persian Gulf to protect American-flagged oil tankers near the Straits of Hormuz, and she launched 28 Tomahawk missiles against Iraqi positions in Baghdad and Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm. Her final operational mission was to sail into Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1991, the 50th anniversary of the United States' entry into World War II, when she played an important role in the commemoration of that event. In 1992, the USS Missouri was decommissioned for the second time, and in 1995 she was removed from the Navy's ship registry, enabling her to be donated by the Navy for preservation as a memorial museum. After intense competition, the USS Missouri Memorial Association was selected by the Navy to care for the "Mighty Mo" at Pearl Harbor, and in 1998 title to the ship was transferred to the Association, and the "Mighty Mo" was brought to Pearl Harbor. A massive effort by volunteers was undertaken to refurbish the ship,clean and repaint her exterior, refinish deck planks, polish her brass, and clean a number of her interior spaces in time for her opening.
On the Surrender Deck of the USS Missouri, the visitor experiences history come to life, hearing the unmistakable voice of Gen. MacArthur and seeing the precise spot where the surrender occurred and the world's bloodiest war came to an end. The visitor can see the wardroom, officers quarters, the spot on the fantail where a Japanese attack plane penetrated the USS Missouri's anti-aircraft defenses and crashed into the deck, setting the ship on fire. And the visitor can stand in awe of the USS Missouri's 16-inch guns. Each of those guns (three to a turret) is 65 feet long, weighs 116 tons, and can accurately fire a 2,700 pound shell 23 miles in 50 seconds.

Missouri
Missouri (see pronunciations) is a state located in the Midwestern United States. It is the 21st most extensive, and the 18th most populous of the fifty states. The state comprises 114 counties and the independent city of St. Louis.
As defined by the 2010 US census, the four largest urban areas in order of population are St. Louis, Kansas City, Springfield, and Columbia. The mean center of the United States population at the 2010 census was in the town of Plato in Texas County. The state's capital is Jefferson City. The land that is now Missouri was acquired from France as part of the Louisiana Purchase and became known as the Missouri Territory. Part of this territory was admitted into the union as the 24th state on August 10, 1821.
Missouri's geography is highly varied. The northern part of the state lies in dissected till plains and the southern portion lies in the Ozark Mountains (a dissected plateau), with the Missouri River dividing the regions. The state lies at the intersection of the three greatest rivers of the United States, with the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers near St. Louis, and the confluence of the Ohio River with the Mississippi north of the Bootheel. The starting points for the Pony Express, Santa Fe Trail, and Oregon Trail were all located in Missouri as well.

USS Missouri, a 45,000 ton Iowa class battleship built by the New York Navy Yard, was commissioned on 11 June 1944. She spent the remainder of that year preparing for combat, transiting to the Pacific in November. Arriving in the war zone in January 1945, Missouri supported the Iwo Jima invasion, the Ryukyus campaign and raids on Japan's home islands during the following months. In May, she became Third Fleet flagship and was the site of the 2 September 1945 Japanese surrender ceremony that ended World War II.
Following the end of hostilities, Missouri returned to the United States, participating in a great naval review at New York in October 1945. In March 1946, she went to the Mediterranean on a diplomatic mission. Through the rest of the 1940s and into 1950, the battleship operated extensively in the Atlantic area. She was the centerpiece of a major grounding incident off Hampton Roads, Virginia, in January 1950 but was quickly repaired and returned to service.
Missouri was the only U.S. battleship on active duty in June 1950, when the Korean War began, and made two combat deployments to the Western Pacific. Following that action, and several training cruises to Europe, she decommissioned in February 1955. For the next three decades, she was in reserve at Bremerton, Washington, and became an important tourist attraction.

The USS Missouri (the "Mighty Mo") proudly rides at anchor in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, next to the USS Arizona Memorial, the two marking the beginning and the end of World War II. The USS Missouri Memorial opened January 29, 1999 and is one of the most popular attractions in Hawaii. One cannot fail to be deeply moved by the historic significance of this great ship. She was the last battleship ever built and the biggest. She is almost 900 feet long and over 100 feet in beam and more than 200 feet in height. Each link in the 1,200-foot long chains of her two anchors weighs over 100 pounds. 17 inches of solid steel protect her citadel from which the ship's operations were directed during battle. But even greater than her physical size is the size of her place in American history.
On the deck of the USS Missouri on September 2, 1945, General Douglas MacArthur accepted Japan's surrender, thereby ending World War II. And after World War II, the USS Missouri fought again in Korea and in Operation Desert Storm. The USS Missouri was launched on January 29, 1944, commissioned on June 11 of the same year, and reported for duty to the Third Fleet in Pearl Harbor on Christmas Eve 1944. She became the flagship for Admiral William "Bull" Halsey and was an important part of the war in the Pacific, assisting in the bombing raids over Tokyo and providing firepower in the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. She was first decommissioned in 1955 after action in Korea.
In 1986 she was modernized, recommissioned, and sent on a tour around the world. Then in 1991, she was sent to the Persian Gulf to protect American-flagged oil tankers near the Straits of Hormuz, and she launched 28 Tomahawk missiles against Iraqi positions in Baghdad and Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm. Her final operational mission was to sail into Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1991, the 50th anniversary of the United States' entry into World War II, when she played an important role in the commemoration of that event. In 1992, the USS Missouri was decommissioned for the second time, and in 1995 she was removed from the Navy's ship registry, enabling her to be donated by the Navy for preservation as a memorial museum. After intense competition, the USS Missouri Memorial Association was selected by the Navy to care for the "Mighty Mo" at Pearl Harbor, and in 1998 title to the ship was transferred to the Association, and the "Mighty Mo" was brought to Pearl Harbor. A massive effort by volunteers was undertaken to refurbish the ship,clean and repaint her exterior, refinish deck planks, polish her brass, and clean a number of her interior spaces in time for her opening.
On the Surrender Deck of the USS Missouri, the visitor experiences history come to life, hearing the unmistakable voice of Gen. MacArthur and seeing the precise spot where the surrender occurred and the world's bloodiest war came to an end. The visitor can see the wardroom, officers quarters, the spot on the fantail where a Japanese attack plane penetrated the USS Missouri's anti-aircraft defenses and crashed into the deck, setting the ship on fire. And the visitor can stand in awe of the USS Missouri's 16-inch guns. Each of those guns (three to a turret) is 65 feet long, weighs 116 tons, and can accurately fire a 2,700 pound shell 23 miles in 50 seconds.

PKFᴜɴɴʏ - For a long time I had been waiting for this set to come out, and now that it's finally here, I have a mixed opinion of it. This set is pretty good, but much like the Battleship movie, it was hyped up to be something much better than it actually is. So I guess it's fitting for both the movie and this set to have the same faults. With that said, for the $69.99 price tag, this set offers a good value and a lot of playability, and is certainly worth buying. I have a few small problems with this set, and I address these issues in this video. My set was missing a piece, and the quality is a little bit lower than I expected. With that said, for the $69.99 price tag, this set offers a good value and a lot of playability, and is certainly worth buying.
I have a few small problems with this set, and I address these issues in this video. My set was missing a piece, and the quality is a little bit lower than I expected.

MINECRAFT: USS MISSOURI - IOWA CLASS TUTORIAL - PAST AND PRESENT(MOST ACCURATE AND DETAILED BUILD)
This is a re-build of my U.S.S. Missouri build/tutorial. The hull has been completely redesigned for better accuracy (Except I totally missed the 4 props instead of 3, lol Noticed by Freelancer Earon Marsh)(FIX NOW DOWN BELOW) and the aft part of the ship has undergone an extreme makeover also. After correcting these imperfections I removed all post cold war weapons (anti aircraft guns) and modernized it by adding Updated radars, harpoon missile stations, Phalanx CIWZ stations and the main flight deck on aft of ship. This is a re-build of my U.S.S. Missouri build/tutorial. The hull has been completely redesigned for better accuracy (Except I totally missed the 4 props instead of 3, lol Noticed by Freelancer Earon Marsh)(FIX NOW DOWN BELOW) and the aft part of the ship has undergone an extreme makeover also. After correcting these imperfections I removed all post cold war weapons (anti aircraft guns) and modernized it by adding Updated radars, harpoon missile stations, Phalanx CIWZ stations and the main flight deck on aft of ship. I hope everyone likes this new reboot of this great older design! Thanks for watching!
