A narrative or story is any report of connected events, actual or imaginary, presented in a sequence of written or spoken words, or still or moving images.
Narrative can be organized in a number of thematic and/or formal categories: non-fiction (e.g., definitively including creative non-fiction, biography, journalism, transcript poetry, and historiography); fictionalization of historical events (e.g., anecdote, myth, legend, and historical fiction); and fiction proper (e.g., literature in prose and sometimes poetry, such as short stories, novels, and narrative poems and songs, as well as imaginary narratives as portrayed in other textual forms, games, or live or recorded performances). Narrative is found in all forms of human creativity, art, and entertainment, including speech, literature, theatre, music and song, comics, journalism, film, television and video, radio, gameplay, unstructured recreation, and performance in general, as well as some painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, and other visual arts (though several modern art movements refuse the narrative in favor of the abstract and conceptual), as long as a sequence of events is presented. The word derives from the Latin verb narrare, "to tell", which is derived from the adjective gnarus, "knowing" or "skilled".
Frederick Douglass (born Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey, c. February 1818 – February 20, 1895) was an African-American social reformer, abolitionist, orator, writer, and statesman. After escaping from slavery in Maryland, he became a national leader of the abolitionist movement from Massachusetts and New York, gaining note for his dazzling oratory and incisive antislavery writings. He stood as a living counter-example to slaveholders' arguments that slaves lacked the intellectual capacity to function as independent American citizens. Even many Northerners at the time found it hard to believe that such a great orator had once been a slave.
Douglass wrote several autobiographies. He described his experiences as a slave in his 1845 autobiography, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave, which became a bestseller, and was influential in promoting the cause of abolition, as was his second book, My Bondage and My Freedom (1855). After the Civil War, Douglass remained an active campaigner against slavery and wrote his last autobiography, Life and Times of Frederick Douglass. First published in 1881 and revised in 1892, three years before his death, it covered events during and after the Civil War. Douglass also actively supported women's suffrage, and held several public offices. Without his approval, Douglass became the first African American nominated for Vice President of the United States as the running mate and Vice Presidential nominee of Victoria Woodhull, on the Equal Rights Party ticket.

You're dreaming... Or at least you've got your eyes closed And this dormant love you've built inside your stubborn ways, Well its begging now, for air... Oh, the sudden breath of change As these waves crash against the highway cliffs... I'm so scared they'll flood me where I sit... When roads, they change to waterways... They never carry home... You pull back (pull back) and you angle towards the window... Now the rain is crashing down, And oh my god,...

Writing a Narrative Essay
* chapter guide at the bottom First published in 1845, the Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass became Frederick Douglass's most well known work. It is as the name implies his autobiography. Frederick Douglass was born a slave and underwent horrendous treatment at the hands of his owners. He later escaped to the north and became an outspoken abolitionist. Not only did he have a great life story to tell, his skill in telling it has long been admired. Douglass traveled throughout Europe lecturing about slavery. After publication, the Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass quickly became a best seller and within three years there were over 11,000 copies published in the United States, had been reprinted nine times and had been translated into two languages (Dutch and French). A winding, esoteric presentation of the ideas that a preference for "good writing" is a bias, and that aesthetic tells a story which may not be communicable through words--but which I can do my best to try and translate. I said I'd given up, but this just continues to happen (not the censorship/ automoderator shadowbanning for me though, I had to expose the entire system of doing this on the h3h3productions subreddit in order for them to give me back my posting privileges... but nothing was done to address a) the use of automod to shadowban users arbitrarily and when it'd not be justified by a publicly visible ban and b) the fact there is a singlwe mod on there who is deleting and censoring information relating to SJWs as he claims 'h3h3 have never spoken about SJWs...) Now with backwards accusations of anti-semitism (from the very people who used anti-semitism as a way to 'get back at h3h3' for criticising insane SJWs), rogue moderator censorship, and 'automoderator shadownbans' (as explained in the desc...

Unchained Memories is a 2003 documentary film about the stories of former slaves interviewed during the 1930s as part of the Federal Writers' Project and preserved in the WPA Slave Narrative Collection. This HBO film interpretation directed by Ed Bell and Thomas Lennon is a compilation of slave narratives, narrated by actors, emulating the original conversation with the interviewer. The slave narratives may be the most accurate in terms of the everyday activities of the enslaved, serving as personal memoirs of more than two thousand former slaves. The documentary depicts the emotions of the slaves and what they endured. The "Master" had the opportunity to sell, trade, or kill the enslaved, for retribution should one slave not obey. Narrated by: Whoopi Goldberg Sarah Gudger, North Carolina ...

You were only giving me the time of day
And it was hard for me to keep that smile straight
In the corner of the bar around the way from me
But I knew what would become of us that night
Everybody else was judging through the corners of their eyes
And I could hardly tell you any single truth
Or move
And hallelujah
Me and all my friends
Waiting for the sun
To make us new again
Or finally burn up
And bring us to our end
We are not all quite as blessed as we may seem
I've got these looks but I can't keep my body clean
But I know that I can use my tongue to speak and sing
Hallelujah
Me and all my friends
Waiting for the sun
To bring us to our end
Or finally burn up
And make us free again
And hallelujah
I am free again
And praise the good old lord
But do not wait for him
'Cause he won't save your soul
Or clean it of it's sins
So let's soak in them
Hallelujah
Me and all my friends
Waiting for the sun
To make us new again
Or finally burn up
And bring us to our end
