Catholic Brothers For Christ 2015 North Texas Catholic Men's Conference at the Hurst Conference Center was amazing. Many men experienced a spiritual transformation and revival of their faith and hope.
We were edified, encouraged and inspired by our great speakers: Bishop Michael Olson, Father Larry Richards and Tom Peterson. The fellowship was awesome. We all now have a new Band Of Brothers who will help us walk the difficult path of life with a greater experience of faith, hope and love.
Father Larry Richards speech was titled "Spiritual exercises to prepare us for battle!" Growing in holiness is the key to being an effective spiritual warrior.
He did not disappoint. We were on fire after his presentation and examination of conscience before the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Father Richards truly is a gifted and captivating speaker, preacher and retreat master. He asked us and answered some of life’s most profound questions.
Tom Peterson's speech was titled "Our World Needs Catholic Heroes!" We discovered we too can be Catholic Heroes to ourselves, families, friends and communities.
Mr. Peterson has over 25 years of experience as an award-winning and record-setting national corporate advertising executive and entrepreneur. His prior marketing, advertising, and management experience includes: American Hospital Supply Corporation; Thomas Publishing Co., IDX Systems Corporation, Phoenix Medical Management, Peterson Sparks, Inc., and Peterson Advertising Corporation.
Bishop Michael Olson encouraged us all to walk with our Savior on a daily basis. Love is the cure the world is seeking. Jesus died on the cross as the supreme example of sacrificial love. He wants us to take up our cross and follow Him to eternal life in heaven.
In 1985, his family moved to Fort Worth as part of the corporate relocation of GTE/DC. In 1988, Bishop Olson officially transferred as a seminarian to the Diocese of Fort Worth. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Fort Worth on June 3, 1994, and began his priestly ministry as the parochial vicar of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Bedford, Texas, from July 1994 through June, 1997.
On January 29, 2014 Bishop Olson was ordained bishop and installed as the fourth bishop of the Diocese of Fort Worth at the Fort Worth Convention Center. Approximately 8,500 Catholics from across North Texas and beyond were in attendance.
Our mission is: "To motivate all Catholic men to commit to building the body of Christ, by uniting as brothers, witnessing the Gospel in all areas of our lives, and facilitating faith building programs in our community."
We hope and pray you will become a part of our team by helping us spread the word about the conference in your parish and among your family and friends.

Fr. Larry Richards gives the final homily to the 2013 Annual Priest's Retreat at the Mother of the Redeemer Retreat Center. Here he points out that we need to have peace in our hearts even when we are experiencing conflict. This is the peace that the Lord gives which gives us the freedom to give ourselves as sacrifices in union with Him.

The Second Sunday of Lent is called Transfiguration Sunday because the Gospel reading is the account of this mystery. But why have this at beginning of Lent? It is a great source of help to keep us generous this Lent and it prepares us for what follows: the journey to Calvary.
From the Transfiguration on he pressed onward to Calvary, longing to lay down his life for our salvation. But the disciples were not so eager. They lagged behind, even resisted, but Jesus wouldn't tolerate obstacles, and in the end, this glimpse of his glory would increase their faith in him.
The Byzantine liturgy for the Transfiguration tells us that Jesus showed the disciples his glory so that when they saw him crucified, they would know that it was voluntary and part of the spiritual journey he had been called to.
We too have a calling that involves the cross. We were not made for a life of comfort and pleasure, but for love and greatness. And a journey into love is nourished by sacrifice.
This journey requires a lot of energy, but no ordinary food will do. Rather, we need food for body and soul, that is, the Eucharist. Father points out some Eucharistic highlights in this Gospel. Peter says: "It is good for us to be here," and is it not good for us to be here with Jesus present in the Eucharist? Peter also suggests making tabernacles, that is, setting up camp on Mt Tabor. While that was not to be, Jesus has 'tabernacled' in our churches; however, we are Jesus' favorite tabernacles.
We are called to journey from Tabor to Calvary and to the eternal Easter of Heaven. Jesus Eucharistic is the food for this journey.

Homily
A homily is a commentary that follows a reading of scripture. In Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran, and Eastern Orthodox Churches, a homily is usually given during Mass (Divine Liturgy for Orthodox and Eastern Catholic Churches, and Divine Service for the Lutheran Church) at the end of the Liturgy of the Word. Many people consider it synonymous with a sermon.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix (Latin: Dioecesis Phoenicensis) in Arizona is a particular church of the Roman Catholic Church in the United States. It was established on December 2, 1969 when it was split off from the Diocese of Tucson. Its ecclesiastic territory includes Maricopa, Mohave, Yavapai, and Coconino counties (excluding the territorial boundaries of the Navajo Indian Reservation), and also includes the Gila River Indian Reservation in Pinal County. The bishop is Thomas J. Olmsted.

The official description found in an earlier version of the website of the diocese read as follows: "These arms are composed of a blue field on which is placed a silver (white) mountain to represent Camelback Mountain, a significant aspect of the backdrop of the See City. Arising from the mountain as a gold (yellow) bird that is coming forth from red flames to represent the mythological phoenix, that arose from the ashes, and for which the See City of Phoenix is named. Above the phoenix is a gold “cross formy fitchée (three arms of a cross and one resembling a spike), which is taken from the arms of the Diocese of Tucson to signify that it was from the territory of Tucson that the Diocese of Phoenix was carved in 1969."

North Texas
North Texas (also commonly called North Central Texas, Northeastern Texas, and Nortex) is a term used primarily by residents of Dallas, Fort Worth, and surrounding areas to describe much of the northern portion of the U.S. state of Texas. Residents of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex generally consider North Texas to include the area south of Oklahoma, east of Abilene, and north of Waco. A more precise term for this region would be the northern part of the central portion of Texas. It does not include the Panhandle of Texas, which expands further north than the region previously described, nor does it include most of the region near the northern border of Texas.
North Texas is centered upon the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex, the largest metropolitan area in Texas. People in the Dallas and Fort Worth areas sometimes use the terms "Metroplex" and "North Texas" interchangeably. However, North Texas refers to a much larger area that includes many rural counties.

Fort Worth, Texas
Fort Worth is the 16th-largest city in the United States and the fifth-largest city in the state of Texas. The city is located in North Central Texas and covers nearly 350 square miles (910 km2) in Tarrant, Denton, Parker, and Wise counties—serving as the seat for Tarrant County. The Second Sunday of Lent is called Transfiguration Sunday because the Gospel reading is the account of this mystery. But why have this at beginning of Lent? It is a great source of help to keep us generous this Lent and it prepares us for what follows: the journey to Calvary. From the Transfiguration on he pressed onward to Calvary, longing to lay down his life for our salvation. But the disciples were not so eager. They lagged behind, even resisted, but Jesus wouldn't tolerate obstacles, and in the end, this glimpse of his glory would increase their faith in him. The Byzantine liturgy for the Transfiguration tells us that Jesus showed the disciples his glory so that when they saw him crucified, they would know that it was voluntary and part of the spiritual journey he had been called to....

Father Richards truly is a gifted and captivating speaker, preacher and retreat master. He asked us and answered some of life’s most profound questions.
Tom Peterson's speech was titled "Our World Needs Catholic Heroes!" We discovered we too can be Catholic Heroes to ourselves, families, friends and communities.
Mr. Peterson has over 25 years of experience as an award-winning and record-setting national corporate advertising executive and entrepreneur. His prior marketing, advertising, and management experience includes: American Hospital Supply Corporation; Thomas Publishing Co., IDX Systems Corporation, Phoenix Medical Management, Peterson Sparks, Inc., and Peterson Advertising Corporation.
Bishop Michael Olson encouraged us all to walk with our Savior on a daily basis. Love is the cure the world is seeking. Jesus died on the cross as the supreme example of sacrificial love. He wants us to take up our cross and follow Him to eternal life in heaven.
In 1985, his family moved to Fort Worth as part of the corporate relocation of GTE/DC. In 1988, Bishop Olson officially transferred as a seminarian to the Diocese of Fort Worth. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Fort Worth on June 3, 1994, and began his priestly ministry as the parochial vicar of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Bedford, Texas, from July 1994 through June, 1997.
On January 29, 2014 Bishop Olson was ordained bishop and installed as the fourth bishop of the Diocese of Fort Worth at the Fort Worth Convention Center. Approximately 8,500 Catholics from across North Texas and beyond were in attendance.
Our mission is: "To motivate all Catholic men to commit to building the body of Christ, by uniting as brothers, witnessing the Gospel in all areas of our lives, and facilitating faith building programs in our community."
We hope and pray you will become a part of our team by helping us spread the word about the conference in your parish and among your family and friends.

The Second Sunday of Lent is called Transfiguration Sunday because the Gospel reading is the account of this mystery. But why have this at beginning of Lent? It is a great source of help to keep us generous this Lent and it prepares us for what follows: the journey to Calvary.
From the Transfiguration on he pressed onward to Calvary, longing to lay down his life for our salvation. But the disciples were not so eager. They lagged behind, even resisted, but Jesus wouldn't tolerate obstacles, and in the end, this glimpse of his glory would increase their faith in him.
The Byzantine liturgy for the Transfiguration tells us that Jesus showed the disciples his glory so that when they saw him crucified, they would know that it was voluntary and part of the spiritual journey he had been called to.
We too have a calling that involves the cross. We were not made for a life of comfort and pleasure, but for love and greatness. And a journey into love is nourished by sacrifice.
This journey requires a lot of energy, but no ordinary food will do. Rather, we need food for body and soul, that is, the Eucharist. Father points out some Eucharistic highlights in this Gospel. Peter says: "It is good for us to be here," and is it not good for us to be here with Jesus present in the Eucharist? Peter also suggests making tabernacles, that is, setting up camp on Mt Tabor. While that was not to be, Jesus has 'tabernacled' in our churches; however, we are Jesus' favorite tabernacles.
We are called to journey from Tabor to Calvary and to the eternal Easter of Heaven. Jesus Eucharistic is the food for this journey.
