Johnstone (Scots: Johnstoun,Scottish Gaelic: Baile Iain) is a town in the council area of Renfrewshire and larger historic county of the same name in the west central Lowlands of Scotland.
The town lies 3 miles (5 km) west of neighbouring Paisley and 12 miles (19 km) west of the centre of the city of Glasgow. Part of the biggest conurbation in Scotland, Johnstone is at the western edge of the Greater Glasgow Urban Area.
The town was a planned community created in the latter half of the 18th century by the local Laird, George Ludovic Houston who held an estate in the town, the remains of which are known as Johnstone Castle. Industrial development brought coal mining, thread-making and cotton weaving to Johnstone causing it to grow considerably in size, expanding out in the 1930s with a number of newly built residential areas which addressed the problem of population density in the historic area of the town. Today it supports a small commercial centre and serves as a commuter settlement for Paisley and Glasgow.

On a day off work, I travel out to Banff National Park to do the Johnston Canyon hike, which includes beautiful views of the canyon and the upper and lower falls. My friend Jesse came with me, and we finished the excursion within a couple hours (although we took our time). My favourite part was going through a tunnel at one point to get a better view of the lower falls. All in all it was a great trip, and I highly recommend checking this place out if you are in Banff National Park, as it is a hike that really gives you exactly what makes the Rocky Mountains so unique. 6.30am 20th March 2012. After a couple of days of tropical "showers" (over 300mm) the Johnstone River peaked at 4.48M last night. This is just below minor flood level, but still a lot of water flowing down river, under our new bridge and past our boat on the marina.

Ahhhh the memories. Looking back it's fun to see how far we've come. Oddly enough we did relatively decent with this DUO. This was our sophomore year in high school, and our first time doing duo interp and acting (although you probably couldn't tell).

St Johnstone 2-1 Dundee St Johnstone moved up to fourth in the Scottish Premiership after seeing off a lacklustre Dundee at McDiarmid Park. Steven Anderson broke the deadlock when he drifted in at the back post to get his boot to Liam Craig's free-kick. Danny Swanson doubled the lead from the penalty spot after Kevin Gomis brought down Steven MacLean. Michael Coulson's header hit the bar as Saints sought a third, before Rory Loy gave Dundee late hope with a penalty after Yordi Teijsse was bundled over. Although they were under the cosh in the opening proceedings, it was Dundee who had the first real opportunity of the game, but Teijsse's effort from Paul McGowan's fine pass was poor and straight at Zander Clark in the Saints goal. The home keeper was again called into action when he ...
