Sarah

Sarah or Sara (/ˈsɛərə/;Hebrew: שָׂרָה, Modern Sara, Tiberian Śārā ISO 259-3 Śarra; Latin: Sara; Arabic: سارا or سارة Sāra;) was the wife and half–sister of Abraham and the mother of Isaac as described in the Hebrew Bible and the Quran. Her name was originally Sarai. According to Genesis 17:15, God changed her name to Sarah as part of a covenant after Hagar bore Abraham his first son, Ishmael.

The Hebrew name Sarah indicates a woman of high rank and is translated as "princess" or "noblewoman".

In the Hebrew Bible

Sarah was the wife of Abraham, as well as being his half-sister, the daughter of his father Terah. Sarah was approximately ten years younger than her husband.

She was considered beautiful to the point that Abraham feared that when they were near more powerful rulers she would be taken away and given to another man. Twice he purposely identified her as being only his sister so that he would be "treated well" for her sake. No reason is given why Sarah remained barren (childless) for a long period of time. She was originally called "Sarai", which is translated "my princess". Later she was called "Sarah", i.e., "princess".

Wie schön du bist

"Wie schön du bist" (German: How Beautiful You Are) is a song by German recording artist Sarah Connor. It was written and produced by Connor along with Peter Plate, Ulf Leo Sommer, and Daniel Faust for her ninth studio album Muttersprache (2015). An ode to her son Tyler, the uplifiting pop ballad was conceived after a dispute with him. Her first single in German, the song was released as the album's lead single on May 1, 2015 in German-speaking Europe; it has since reached number two on the German Singles Chart.

In Germany, "Wie schön du bist" was certified gold by the Bundesverband Musikindustrie (BVMI), denoting sales/streams of 260,000 copies, including 240,000 digital downloads.

Parody

In September 2015, German comedian Carolin Kebekus performed a parody of this song in her show PussyTerror TV, mocking dim-witted German nationalists under the title "Wie blöd du bist" (German: How Daft You Are).

Sarah O'Flaherty

Sarah O'Flaherty (born 1973), known as Sarah O', is an Irish television presenter who has been on Irish, English and Scottish television shows but is now living back home in Ireland. She began her career as co-presenter of The Grip (Ryle Nugent also presented this).

Early life

O'Flaherty grew up in Dublin, Ireland with her parents and three brothers. She was a member of the Girl Guides, during which time she learned "good team player, listen to and help others" and put her in good stead for the workplace.

Career

O'Flaherty began her career as a co-presenter of RTE's The Grip enabling her to travel the world covering various sporting events and allowing her participate in many extreme sports such as skydiving and bungee jumping. This was followed by a stint in London as the host of TV3 Ireland's Irish Pepsi Chart Show which gave viewers the opportunity to travel to Sydney, Australia for the 2000 Summer Olympics.

Scotsport

O'Flaherty was signed to co-present Scottish Television's (STV) football show Scotsport, along with Jim Delahunt and Julyan Sinclair. The aim was to try and entice new and younger views to the flagship sport show but viewers tuned out and the presenters were criticised for their apparent lack of football knowledge. Over 2,000 fans signed an online petition calling for O'Flaherty and Sinclair's dismissal however with a view base of over 250,000 this was a very small proportion. After two years the pairs' contract was not renewed in 2006.
