A video essay examining the subtleties of actors playing actors.
This was partially inspired by Nick James' editorial in the January ’15 edition of Sight and Sound. James writes that ‘no film could be more focused on the intimacy of acting than Iñárritu’s riveting Birdman (…) you’ve got an actor (briefly) playing bad acting, a superhero movie star reaching towards a high-tone stage performance, and a Method actor who’s brilliant and an asshole; they’re all switching between playing themselves and playing their stage roles. When you think of how complicated the registers at play here are, it’s astonishing anyone tried to pull it off.'
This got me thinking about all the times that actors change roles on screen, whether to deliver good or bad acting. While making this video, I noticed the intricacies of how actors can try, in this situation, to create the sense of spontaneity and therefore reminding us, as viewers, that the film we are watching is also rehearsed and scripted in the same way.
This is particularly interesting in Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm. We have Jerry Seinfeld playing Jerry Seinfeld playing Jerry Seinfeld in the Seinfeld clip and then during the CYE clip, Jerry Seinfeld playing a different Jerry Seinfeld playing the Jerry Seinfeld from…. Seinfeld (if that makes sense).

Cecil B. DeMille’s bloated, heavy-handed, galumphing, kitschy 1949 biblical epic is ripe cinematic material for some fun shenanigans. Working on these Three Variations made
re-watching the film into a creative—as opposed to a passive—experience.
Variation 1: Delilah in Ecstasy
As Hedy Lamarr watches Samson wrestle a lion, she becomes so aroused, she travels back in time to her erotic 1933 masterpiece, Ecstasy.
Variation 2: Simultaneous Tableaux
Cecil B. had a fondness for composing his scenes in tableaux that imitate classical paintings. These busy, locked-camera scenes give his films an old-fashioned, self-conscious feel. It’s as if he were saying, “Anything Jacques-Louis David can do, I can do better.” In this variation, I overlap and slowly dissolve between the movie’s various tableaux, having fun with the spatial and narrative ambiguities this technique creates.
Variation 3: Delilah and Debra—a Fatal Flirtation
The Debra in the title of this variation is Debra Paget, the sensuous snake-charming dancer in Fritz Lang’s late movie The Indian Tomb. I simply couldn’t resist intercutting Debra’s dance with Delilah’s desirous reaction shots.

Victor Mature
Victor John Mature (January 29, 1913 – August 4, 1999) was an American stage, film and television actor.
Early life
Mature was born in Louisville, Kentucky. His father, Marcello Gelindo Maturi, later Marcellus George Mature, was an Italian-speaking immigrant from the town Pinzolo, in the Italian part of the former County of Tyrol (now Trentino in Italy, at that time part of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire); he was a cutler. His mother, Clara P. (Ackley), was Kentucky-born and of Swiss heritage. An older brother, Marcellus Paul Mature, died at 11 in 1918 from osteomyelitis. Victor Mature attended St. Xavier High School in Louisville, Kentucky, the Kentucky Military Institute, and the Spencerian Business School. He briefly sold candy and operated a restaurant before moving to California.
Film career
Mature went to study and act at the Pasadena Community Playhouse. For three years he lived in a tent and was spotted by an agent for Hal Roach while acting in To Quito and Back. This led to a contract with Roach, who cast him in a small role in The Housekeeper's Daughter, then gave Mature his first leading role as a fur-clad caveman in One Million B.C. (1940). This was followed up with Captain Caution.

Jerry Seinfeld
Jerome Allen "Jerry" Seinfeld (born April 29, 1954) is an American comedian, actor, writer, and producer. He is best known for portraying a semifictional version of himself in the sitcom Seinfeld (1989–1998), which he co-created and co-wrote with Larry David. For its final two seasons, they were also co-executive producers.
Seinfeld also co-wrote and co-produced the 2007 animated film Bee Movie, in which he voiced the protagonist. In 2010 he premiered a reality series called The Marriage Ref. He directed Colin Quinn in the Broadway show Long Story Short at the Helen Hayes Theater, which ran until January 2011. He is also the creator and host of the web series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.
In his stand-up comedy career, Seinfeld is known for specializing in observational humor, often focusing on personal relationships and uncomfortable social obligations. In 2005 Comedy Central named him the 12th-greatest stand-up comedian of all time.
Early life
Seinfeld was born in Brooklyn, New York. His father, Kalmen Seinfeld (1918–1985), was born to a Jewish immigrant from Kherson Oblast in southern Ukraine. His mother, Betty (née Hosni; born 1914), is of Syrian Jewish descent; her parents Selim and Salha Hosni were from Aleppo. Seinfeld grew up in Massapequa, New York, and attended Massapequa High School on Long Island. At the age of 16, he spent time volunteering in Kibbutz Sa'ar in Israel. He later attended State University of New York at Oswego; after his second year, he transferred to Queens College, City University of New York, graduating with a degree in communications and theater.

The Robe
The Robe is a 1942 historical novel about the Crucifixion of Jesus written by Lloyd C. Douglas. The book was one of the best-selling titles of the 1940s. It entered the New York Times Best Seller list in October 1942, and four weeks later rose to No. 1. It held the position for nearly a year. The Robe remained on the list for another two years, returning several other times over the next several years including when the film adaptation (featuring Richard Burton in an early role) was released in 1953.
Inspiration
Lloyd C. Douglas began his literary career after leaving the ministry at the age of 52. All of his novels, essays, and short stories relied on his spiritual background for thematic and creative inspiration. At the height of his popularity, Douglas was receiving on average 100 letters a week from fans. One of these letters provided the inspiration for The Robe. Hazel McCann, a department store clerk from Ohio, wrote to Douglas asking what he thought had happened to Christ's garments after the crucifixion. Douglas immediately began working on a novel based on this concept, sending each chapter to McCann as he finished it. Douglas and McCann finally met in 1941, and it is to her that Douglas has dedicated the book.

Leo Genn
Leo John Genn (9 August 1905 – 26 January 1978) was a British stage and film actor and barrister.
Early life and family
Genn was born at 144 Kyverdale Road, Stamford Hill, Hackney, London, the son of Woolfe (William) Genn, a jewellery salesman, and Rachel Genn née Asserson. His parents were both Jewish.
Genn attended the City of London School and studied law at St Catharine's College, Cambridge, qualifying as a barrister in 1928. He ceased practising as a lawyer soon after World War II. On 14 May 1933, Genn married Marguerite van Praag, a casting director at Ealing Studios. They had no children.
Career
Theatre career
Genn's theatrical debut was in 1930 in A Marriage has been Disarranged at the Devonshire Park Theatre, Eastbourne and then at the Royalty Theatre in Dean Street, London. Actor/manager Leon M. Lion had engaged him simultaneously as an actor and attorney. In 1933 he appeared in Ballerina by Rodney Ackland. Between September 1934 and March 1936, Leo Genn was a member of the Old Vic Company where he appeared in many productions of Shakespeare. In 1937 he was Horatio in Tyrone Guthrie's production of Hamlet, with Laurence Olivier as Hamlet, in Elsinore, Denmark. In 1938, Genn appeared in the theatrical hit, The Flashing Stream by Charles Langbridge Morgan and went with the show to America and Broadway. His many other stage performances included Lillian Hellman's Another Part of the Forest, 12 Angry Men, The Devil's Advocate, Maugham's The Sacred Flame. In 1959 Genn gave a reading in Chichester Cathedral.

Cecil B. DeMille’s bloated, heavy-handed, galumphing, kitschy 1949 biblical epic is ripe cinematic material for some fun shenanigans. Working on these Three Variations made re-watching the film into a creative—as opposed to a passive—experience. Variation 1: Delilah in Ecstasy As Hedy Lamarr watches Samson wrestle a lion, she becomes so aroused, she travels back in time to her erotic 1933 masterpiece, Ecstasy. Variation 2: Simultaneous Tableaux Cecil B. had a fondness for composing his scenes in tableaux that imitate classical paintings. These busy, locked-camera scenes give his films an old-fashioned, self-conscious feel. It’s as if he were saying, “Anything Jacques-Louis David can do, I can do better.” In this variation, I overlap and slowly dissolve between the movie’s various tableaux, having fun with the spatial and narrative ambiguities this technique creates. Variation 3: Delilah and Debra—a Fatal Flirtation The Debra in the title of this variation is Debra Paget, the sensuous snake-charming dancer in Fritz Lang’s late movie The Indian Tomb. I simply couldn’t resist intercutting Debra’s dance with Delilah’s desirous reaction shots. -

Victor Bright University of Colorado Boulder Abstract Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) and Molecular Layer Deposition (MLD) can be effectively used to deposit custom-designed, multi-material layers with atomic resolution on any micro- or nano-scale device surface. The nano-scale ALD/MLD coating can protect the devices from electrical short, charge accumulation, moisture-induced adhesion, wear, corrosion, creep, fatigue and anodic oxidation during short-term prototyping or long-term product life. The nano- and micro-electro-mechanical systems (N/MEMS) community has been looking for effective antistiction and environmental protections coatings for many years. ALD/MLD films for MEMS achieve these goals similar to what CVD Si3N4 has been for CMOS. As devices further shrink toward nano-scale, ALD-based processes offer a new strategy for depositing conformal and precise films that may have important applications as a novel dielectric, a sacrificial layer for gap control in nanofabrication, or as a structural layer for NEMS. ALD relies on sequential, self-limiting surface reactions to deposit ultra thin, conformal films with the following characteristics: ALD film thicknesses can be precisely deposited from a few angstroms to hundreds of nanometers; ALD films can be deposited at low temperatures compatible with CMOS; ALD films are pinhole-free, dense, smooth and highly conformal; ALD films can be deposited on silicon, polysilicon, silicon nitride, metals, polymers, and ceramics; ALD can coat high surface area to volume ratio structures with complex geometries; ALD can deposit dielectric or conductive layers; ALD can deposit hydrophobic or hydrophilic layers covalently bonded to the surface; ALD films can be micromachined to create nano-scale gaps and free standing structures. The ALD techniques for N/MEMS, pioneered at the University of Colorado Boulder, represent breakthrough in nano-scale processes that can be used to fabricate custom-designed, multi-material layers with atomic resolution. The ALD processes developed are proven, mature, and are available to serve the N/MEMS community. Biography Victor M. Bright is the Alvah and Harriet Hovlid Professor and Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and the Faculty Director for Discovery Learning, College of Engineering and Applied Science, University of Colorado Boulder. From 2005 through 2007, he served as the Associate Dean for Research. Prior to joining the University of Colorado, he was a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio (1992-1997). During 2004 he was a Visiting Professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH-Zurich), Switzerland. Prof. Bright's research activities include N/MEMS, atomic-layer deposited materials, N/MEMS reliability and packaging. Dr. Bright has served as the General Co-Chair for the IEEE MEMS 2005 International Conference. He is the Americas Technical Chair for Transducers 2013 and the General Technical Chair for Transducers 2015 International Conferences. Prof. Bright is a Fellow of ASME and a Senior Member of IEEE.

Condamné à mort, Zarak doit fuir. Celui-ci devient alors un célèbre hors-la-loi. Dès lors, l’armée britannique, dirigée par le Commandant Michael Ingram, se lance sur ses traces. Mais quand Ingram est capturé par Ahmad, un des ennemis de Zarak, Zarak risque sa vie pour sauver l’officier britannique.

A video essay examining the subtleties of actors playing actors.
This was partially inspired by Nick James' editorial in the January ’15 edition of Sight and Sound. James writes that ‘no film could be more focused on the intimacy of acting than Iñárritu’s riveting Birdman (…) you’ve got an actor (briefly) playing bad acting, a superhero movie star reaching towards a high-tone stage performance, and a Method actor who’s brilliant and an asshole; they’re all switching between playing themselves and playing their stage roles. When you think of how complicated the registers at play here are, it’s astonishing anyone tried to pull it off.'
This got me thinking about all the times that actors change roles on screen, whether to deliver good or bad acting. While making this video, I noticed the intricacies of how actors can try, in this situation, to create the sense of spontaneity and therefore reminding us, as viewers, that the film we are watching is also rehearsed and scripted in the same way.
This is particularly interesting in Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm. We have Jerry Seinfeld playing Jerry Seinfeld playing Jerry Seinfeld in the Seinfeld clip and then during the CYE clip, Jerry Seinfeld playing a different Jerry Seinfeld playing the Jerry Seinfeld from…. Seinfeld (if that makes sense).

Variation 1: Delilah in Ecstasy
As Hedy Lamarr watches Samson wrestle a lion, she becomes so aroused, she travels back in time to her erotic 1933 masterpiece, Ecstasy.
Variation 2: Simultaneous Tableaux
Cecil B. had a fondness for composing his scenes in tableaux that imitate classical paintings. These busy, locked-camera scenes give his films an old-fashioned, self-conscious feel. It’s as if he were saying, “Anything Jacques-Louis David can do, I can do better.” In this variation, I overlap and slowly dissolve between the movie’s various tableaux, having fun with the spatial and narrative ambiguities this technique creates.
Variation 3: Delilah and Debra—a Fatal Flirtation
The Debra in the title of this variation is Debra Paget, the sensuous snake-charming dancer in Fritz Lang’s late movie The Indian Tomb. I simply couldn’t resist intercutting Debra’s dance with Delilah’s desirous reaction shots.

Hija del bailarín Eduardo Cansino, natural de Castilleja de la Cuesta (Sevilla, España), y de Volga Haworth, de origen irlandés. Rita empezó su carrera como bailarina junto a su padre, y con su nombre real, a la temprana edad de 13 años.
Llegó a Hollywood en 1933, y desde 1935 actuó como actriz en papeles secundarios, realizando muchas películas de serie B en las que sobre todo destacó por sus dotes para la danza, o por su elegante aspecto. De esta etapa destaca la película Charlie Chan en Egipto (1937), de Louis King, película perteneciente a la saga dedicada al célebre detective oriental, en la que trabajó junto a Warner Oland, que encarnaba a Chan.
Fue su marido, por aquel entonces Edward Judson, quien la lanzó al estrellato, convirtiéndola en su mejor inversión personal. Judson le consiguió un contrato con Columbia Pictures, productora que necesitaba de estrellas importantes y a quien la actriz acabaría colocando entre las primeras compañías cinematográficas, reportándole a la empresa millonarios ingresos sólo con su presencia. Rita Hayworth es la Columbia, dijo Frank Sinatra. Para entonces, Harry Cohn, magnate de la productora, se enamoró de ella. La presión y las disputas por este motivo entre la actriz y el productor, darían mucho qué hablar entre los profesionales de la industria, y él estuvo toda la vida obsesionado con ella, que no respondió nunca a sus requerimientos amorosos.
Su primer papel importante fue como actriz secundaria en la película: Sólo los ángeles tienen alas (1939), de Howard Hawks, lo que hizo que la crítica cinematográfica se empezara a fijar en ella. Ella poseía una personalidad tímida y bondadosa, que contrastaba con su fuerza y enorme impacto en la pantalla; en este film, compartió cartel con Cary Grant, Jean Arthur y Thomas Mitchell. Luego rodó una comedia junto a Brian Aherne: Una dama en cuestión (1940), de Charles Vidor.

En esa época rodó The Strawberry Blonde (1941), de Raoul Walsh, junto a James Cagney y Olivia de Havilland; Mi chica favorita (1942), de Irving Cummings una cinta de corte biográfico junto a Victor Mature y Carole Landis; y Esta noche y todas las noches (1945), de Victor Saville, un musical que fluctúa entre la comedia y el drama de tono menor, junto a Lee Bowman y Janet Blair.

Rita Hayworth
Hija del bailarín Eduardo Cansino, natural de Castilleja de la Cuesta (Sevilla, España), y de Volga Haworth, de origen irlandés. Rita empezó su carrera como bailarina junto a su padre, y con su nombre real, a la temprana edad de 13 años.
Llegó a Hollywood en 1933, y desde 1935 actuó como actriz en papeles secundarios, realizando muchas películas de serie B en las que sobre todo destacó por sus dotes para la danza, o por su elegante aspecto. De esta etapa destaca la película Charlie Chan en Egipto (1937), de Louis King, película perteneciente a la saga dedicada al célebre detective oriental, en la que trabajó junto a Warner Oland, que encarnaba a Chan.
Fue su marido, por aquel entonces Edward Judson, quien la lanzó al estrellato, convirtiéndola en su mejor inversión personal. Judson le consiguió un contrato con Columbia Pictures, productora que necesitaba de estrellas importantes y a quien la actriz acabaría colocando entre las primeras compañías cinematográficas, reportándole a la empresa millonarios ingresos sólo con su presencia. Rita Hayworth es la Columbia, dijo Frank Sinatra. Para entonces, Harry Cohn, magnate de la productora, se enamoró de ella. La presión y las disputas por este motivo entre la actriz y el productor, darían mucho qué hablar entre los profesionales de la industria, y él estuvo toda la vida obsesionado con ella, que no respondió nunca a sus requerimientos amorosos.
Su primer papel importante fue como actriz secundaria en la película: Sólo los ángeles tienen alas (1939), de Howard Hawks, lo que hizo que la crítica cinematográfica se empezara a fijar en ella. Ella poseía una personalidad tímida y bondadosa, que contrastaba con su fuerza y enorme impacto en la pantalla; en este film, compartió cartel con Cary Grant, Jean Arthur y Thomas Mitchell. Luego rodó una comedia junto a Brian Aherne: Una dama en cuestión (1940), de Charles Vidor.

Abstract
Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) and Molecular Layer Deposition (MLD) can be effectively used to deposit custom-designed, multi-material layers with atomic resolution on any micro- or nano-scale device surface. The nano-scale ALD/MLD coating can protect the devices from electrical short, charge accumulation, moisture-induced adhesion, wear, corrosion, creep, fatigue and anodic oxidation during short-term prototyping or long-term product life. The nano- and micro-electro-mechanical systems (N/MEMS) community has been looking for effective antistiction and environmental protections coatings for many years. ALD/MLD films for MEMS achieve these goals similar to what CVD Si3N4 has been for CMOS. As devices further shrink toward nano-scale, ALD-based processes offer a new strategy for depositing conformal and precise films that may have important applications as a novel dielectric, a sacrificial layer for gap control in nanofabrication, or as a structural layer for NEMS. ALD relies on sequential, self-limiting surface reactions to deposit ultra thin, conformal films with the following characteristics: ALD film thicknesses can be precisely deposited from a few angstroms to hundreds of nanometers; ALD films can be deposited at low temperatures compatible with CMOS; ALD films are pinhole-free, dense, smooth and highly conformal; ALD films can be deposited on silicon, polysilicon, silicon nitride, metals, polymers, and ceramics; ALD can coat high surface area to volume ratio structures with complex geometries; ALD can deposit dielectric or conductive layers; ALD can deposit hydrophobic or hydrophilic layers covalently bonded to the surface; ALD films can be micromachined to create nano-scale gaps and free standing structures. The ALD techniques for N/MEMS, pioneered at the University of Colorado Boulder, represent breakthrough in nano-scale processes that can be used to fabricate custom-designed, multi-material layers with atomic resolution. The ALD processes developed are proven, mature, and are available to serve the N/MEMS community.
Biography
Victor M. Bright is the Alvah and Harriet Hovlid Professor and Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and the Faculty Director for Discovery Learning, College of Engineering and Applied Science, University of Colorado Boulder. From 2005 through 2007, he served as the Associate Dean for Research. Prior to joining the University of Colorado, he was a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio (1992-1997). During 2004 he was a Visiting Professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH-Zurich), Switzerland. Prof. Bright's research activities include N/MEMS, atomic-layer deposited materials, N/MEMS reliability and packaging. Dr. Bright has served as the General Co-Chair for the IEEE MEMS 2005 International Conference. He is the Americas Technical Chair for Transducers 2013 and the General Technical Chair for Transducers 2015 International Conferences. Prof. Bright is a Fellow of ASME and a Senior Member of IEEE.

The OP ART movement is currently undergoing a Renaissance and the work of artists such as Heinz Mack, Victor Vasarely, Bridget Riley and many others is rediscovered and shown in museums all over the globe.
The OP ART movement invented a typical style of visual art that uses optical illusions, which give the impression to the viewer that the image is within movement, or that it is swelling or warping. The works often work with high black and white contrasts that are brought onto a flat medium like a canvas or a plate. Also most of the pieces are made entirely in 2D framework they create a deep three-dimensional and spacial effect.
The design class ONE to ONE | OP ART was trying to fuse the above described art direction with contemporary digital media and fabrication technologies to create full scale physical objects that would work as well with optical effects.
These three-dimensional installations were not constructed as a simple effect or image carrier, but were informed and sculpted in a tight relationship with its embedded graphical or optical effect in order to strengthen or intensifying the overall result.
Some of the projects were purely digitally composed within the parametric framework of Rhino Grasshopper that allowed to validate and mature the design in several iterative loops until the best fit solution was found. Those were than realized with the utilization of digital manufacturing technologies such as CNC-Laser-Cutting that allowed for a coherent digital process chain.
In other cases digital workflows were established to support the realization of the projects and help to solve problems that were unfeasible to overcome in a traditional analog manner. In one project HDR footage was used to to prove the reflections that were caused by a certain geometric shape and in another scheme micro cameras were build into a scale model to evaluate the right position and distances between a fragmented mirror and its projective graphics that were spatially arranged.
Although the design- and technical approach extremely heterogenous between the individual groups in the end all were reaching the prior defined benchmark to fuse a three-dimensional object with an optical effect to create advanced compositions.

This is a turning point for many of us, where we mature from teenagers to young adults, spread our wings and leave our homes. As time passes, we grow up and our parents grow old. "TIMBUKTU" Storyline - In 1940 Col. Dufort arrives in Timbuktu with his wife to take over the French garrison. This garrison is threatened by a Tuareg uprising supposedly inspired by Mohamety Adjani...a holy man once regarded as a friend of france. Almost immediately Col. and Mne. Dufort push on to Bou Djebeha in company with an American gunrunner named Mike Conway who soon engages the Colonel's wife in a forbidden romances.At Bou Djebeha Conway learns that the holy man has been kidnapped by an evil Emir w who is the true force behind the rebellion. Complications and dangers ensue as Conway and the Colonel try to get the holy man back to Timbuktu so that he can speak out against the rebellion. Sinopse
Nick Bianco é um ladrão de segunda categoria, que é preso quando assaltava uma joalharia. Ele recusa-se a fazer qualquer acordo com o advogado, pois recusa-se a entregar um colega.
Nick é então condenado, mas acredita que tanto a sua mulher como as suas duas filhas vão saber ultrapassar este momento. Ao descobrir que a sua mulher cometeu suicídio, Bianco submete-se a trabalhar como informador da polícia, com o objectivo de conseguir liberdade condicional e voltar para as suas filhas, que estão num orfanato.
Após três anos, Nick é libertado, casa-se novamente e leva uma vida feliz, mas fica a saber que Tommy Udo, um psicopata, foi absolvido e provavelmente em pouco tempo estará no seu encalço.

Victor Mature (1913-1999) was born in Louisville, Kentucky and performed at the Pasadena Playhouse before he was signed by 20th Century Fox. Dubbed "A Beautiful Hunk Of A Man", Mature performed in various genres, notably film noir (I Wake Up Screaming, Kiss Of Death, The Las Vegas Story), westerns (My Darling Clementine, Chief Crazy Horse), biblical epics (Samson and Delilah, The Robe), action yarns (One Million BC, Captain Cautious) and musicals (My Gal Sal, Footlight Serenade, Million Dollar Mermaid). His dark good looks and physique allowed critics to label him "a pretty boy" and "beefcake" while most ignored his acting skills, which was far deeper than they acknowledged. The actor himself had a self-deprecating sense of humor when it came to his profession and did not take himself too seriously. When he tried to apply for a membership and the Hollywood Country Club, they informed him they did not accept actors, to which he replied, "I'm no actor - I've got 67 films to my credit to prove it!" He also romanced some of Tinseltown's famous leading ladies, some of whom were costars - Betty Grable, Esther Williams, Rita Hayworth (they were briefly engaged) and Lana Turner. Mature served in the Coast Guard during WWII and resumed his postwar work with ease - one of his biggest successes was John Ford's "My Darling Clementine" (1946) in which he played Doc Holliday. "Samson And Delilah" (1949) was part of the epic biblical movement that swept through Hollywood in an attempt to squash the new medium of television. He worked steadily into the mid-60s, and then left films at 45. He made occasion forays back onto the big screen in the 70s, and his last performance was in the television production of "Samson And Delilah" in 1984, where he played Samson's father. When asked if it bothered him to play the father of the character he had portrayed in 1949, he quipped, "If the money was right, I'd play his mother!" Five times married, his only child, daughter Victoria, was the product of his final marriage. Victor passed away from leukemia in 1999. Although he is not as well remembered as his contemporaries, Mature had a naturalness and an unaffectedness that comes across onscreen. I used Peggy Lee's "My Old Flame" since it seemed to fit so well. Enjoy!

He worked steadily into the mid-60s, and then left films at 45. He made occasion forays back onto the big screen in the 70s, and his last performance was in the television production of "Samson And Delilah" in 1984, where he played Samson's father. When asked if it bothered him to play the father of the character he had portrayed in 1949, he quipped, "If the money was right, I'd play his mother!" Five times married, his only child, daughter Victoria, was the product of his final marriage. Victor passed away from leukemia in 1999. Although he is not as well remembered as his contemporaries, Mature had a naturalness and an unaffectedness that comes across onscreen. I used Peggy Lee's "My Old Flame" since it seemed to fit so well. Enjoy!

A video essay examining the subtleties of actors playing actors. This was partially inspired by Nick James' editorial in the January ’15 edition of Sight and Sound. James writes that ‘no film could be more focused on the intimacy of acting than Iñárritu’s riveting Birdman (…) you’ve got an actor (briefly) playing bad acting, a superhero movie star reaching towards a high-tone stage performance, and a Method actor who’s brilliant and an asshole; they’re all switching between playing themselves and playing their stage roles. Working on these Three Variations made re-watching the film into a creative—as opposed to a passive—experience. This is particularly interesting in Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm. We have Jerry Seinfeld playing Jerry Seinfeld playing Jerry Seinfeld in the Seinfeld clip and then during the CYE clip, Jerry Seinfeld playing a different Jerry Seinfeld playing the Jerry Seinfeld from…. Seinfeld (if that makes sense).

Llegó a Hollywood en 1933, y desde 1935 actuó como actriz en papeles secundarios, realizando muchas películas de serie B en las que sobre todo destacó por sus dotes para la danza, o por su elegante aspecto. Fue su marido, por aquel entonces Edward Judson, quien la lanzó al estrellato, convirtiéndola en su mejor inversión personal. Judson le consiguió un contrato con Columbia Pictures, productora que necesitaba de estrellas importantes y a quien la actriz acabaría colocando entre las primeras compañías cinematográficas, reportándole a la empresa millonarios ingresos sólo con su presencia. Rita Hayworth es la Columbia, dijo Frank Sinatra. Para entonces, Harry Cohn, magnate de la productora, se enamoró de ella. La presión y las disputas por este motivo entre la actriz y el productor, darían mucho qué hablar entre los profesionales de la industria, y él estuvo toda la vida obsesionado con ella, que no respondió nunca a sus requerimientos amorosos.

En esa época rodó The Strawberry Blonde (1941), de Raoul Walsh, junto a James Cagney y Olivia de Havilland; Mi chica favorita (1942), de Irving Cummings una cinta de corte biográfico junto a Victor Mature y Carole Landis; y Esta noche y todas las noches (1945), de Victor Saville, un musical que fluctúa entre la comedia y el drama de tono menor, junto a Lee Bowman y Janet Blair.

La película fue un escándalo, y en países como España fue considerada "gravemente peligrosa" por la Iglesia Católica, debido a su strip-tease insinuante, en la famosa escena donde se quita un guante. Esta película la hizo inmensamente famosa, hasta el punto de que se colocó su imagen en la bomba atómica de pruebas arrojada por Estados Unidos sobre las Islas Bikini. Dado el carácter pacifista de la actriz, este hecho la indignó profundamente. También ocasionó una histérica expedición a la Cordillera de los Andes, a fin de enterrar allí una copia de la película, para que se conservase en caso de un desastre nuclear.
Este momento de fama internacional también coincide con una de sus crisis en lo personal: su matrimonio con Ali Khan entró en crisis, y ella declaró a la prensa una frase que se haría célebre: «Todos los hombres que conozco se acuestan con Gilda, pero se levantan conmigo».
La suerte profesional parece ir en racha, y en 1948 rueda, junto a su nuevo marido, el director Orson Welles, un filme que fue en su día maldito, pero que resultó de enorme trascendencia: La dama de Shangai.

Abstract
Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) and Molecular Layer Deposition (MLD) can be effectively used to deposit custom-designed, multi-material layers with atomic resolution on any micro- or nano-scale device surface. The nano-scale ALD/MLD coating can protect the devices from electrical short, charge accumulation, moisture-induced adhesion, wear, corrosion, creep, fatigue and anodic oxidation during short-term prototyping or long-term product life. The nano- and micro-electro-mechanical systems (N/MEMS) community has been looking for effective antistiction and environmental protections coatings for many years. ALD/MLD films for MEMS achieve these goals similar to what CVD Si3N4 has been for CMOS. As devices further shrink toward nano-scale, ALD-based processes offer a new strategy for depositing conformal and precise films that may have important applications as a novel dielectric, a sacrificial layer for gap control in nanofabrication, or as a structural layer for NEMS. ALD relies on sequential, self-limiting surface reactions to deposit ultra thin, conformal films with the following characteristics: ALD film thicknesses can be precisely deposited from a few angstroms to hundreds of nanometers; ALD films can be deposited at low temperatures compatible with CMOS; ALD films are pinhole-free, dense, smooth and highly conformal; ALD films can be deposited on silicon, polysilicon, silicon nitride, metals, polymers, and ceramics; ALD can coat high surface area to volume ratio structures with complex geometries; ALD can deposit dielectric or conductive layers; ALD can deposit hydrophobic or hydrophilic layers covalently bonded to the surface; ALD films can be micromachined to create nano-scale gaps and free standing structures. The ALD techniques for N/MEMS, pioneered at the University of Colorado Boulder, represent breakthrough in nano-scale processes that can be used to fabricate custom-designed, multi-material layers with atomic resolution. The ALD processes developed are proven, mature, and are available to serve the N/MEMS community.
Biography
Victor M. Bright is the Alvah and Harriet Hovlid Professor and Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and the Faculty Director for Discovery Learning, College of Engineering and Applied Science, University of Colorado Boulder. From 2005 through 2007, he served as the Associate Dean for Research. Prior to joining the University of Colorado, he was a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio (1992-1997). During 2004 he was a Visiting Professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH-Zurich), Switzerland. Prof. Bright's research activities include N/MEMS, atomic-layer deposited materials, N/MEMS reliability and packaging. Dr. Bright has served as the General Co-Chair for the IEEE MEMS 2005 International Conference. He is the Americas Technical Chair for Transducers 2013 and the General Technical Chair for Transducers 2015 International Conferences. Prof. Bright is a Fellow of ASME and a Senior Member of IEEE.

The first sample is taken when we purchase the cork bark and is analysed to ensure it meets our technical and commercial parameters. The sampling plan for chloroanisol control by SPME-GC/MS is based on a minimum 150 cork planks. These are randomly taken. No cork lot is accepted if TCA level is higher than 2 ng/L.
Natural Cork Stoppers are the best available sealant for quality wines, allowing the wine to mature in ideal conditions. The performance guaranteed by natural cork stoppers is not only indispensable to wine maturation, but also applies for wines intented to be consumed with minimal aging.
Corks are hand sorted according to its visual grading and defects. This operation allows for homogeneous cork stoppers lots meeting customers specifications.
Washing the cork stoppers aids in the disinfection and elimination of polyphenols, while providing a cosmetic whitening and removal of dust

The OP ART movement is currently undergoing a Renaissance and the work of artists such as Heinz Mack, Victor Vasarely, Bridget Riley and many others is rediscovered and shown in museums all over the globe.
The OP ART movement invented a typical style of visual art that uses optical illusions, which give the impression to the viewer that the image is within movement, or that it is swelling or warping. The works often work with high black and white contrasts that are brought onto a flat medium like a canvas or a plate. Also most of the pieces are made entirely in 2D framework they create a deep three-dimensional and spacial effect.
The design class ONE to ONE | OP ART was trying to fuse the above described art direction with contemporary digital media and fabrication technologies to create full scale physical objects that would work as well with optical effects.
These three-dimensional installations were not constructed as a simple effect or image carrier, but were informed and sculpted in a tight relationship with its embedded graphical or optical effect in order to strengthen or intensifying the overall result.
Some of the projects were purely digitally composed within the parametric framework of Rhino Grasshopper that allowed to validate and mature the design in several iterative loops until the best fit solution was found. Those were than realized with the utilization of digital manufacturing technologies such as CNC-Laser-Cutting that allowed for a coherent digital process chain.
In other cases digital workflows were established to support the realization of the projects and help to solve problems that were unfeasible to overcome in a traditional analog manner. In one project HDR footage was used to to prove the reflections that were caused by a certain geometric shape and in another scheme micro cameras were build into a scale model to evaluate the right position and distances between a fragmented mirror and its projective graphics that were spatially arranged.
Although the design- and technical approach extremely heterogenous between the individual groups in the end all were reaching the prior defined benchmark to fuse a three-dimensional object with an optical effect to create advanced compositions.
