Tribalism is the state of being organized in, or advocating for, a tribe or tribes. In terms of conformity, tribalism may also refer in popular cultural terms to a way of thinking or behaving in which people are more loyal to their tribe than to their friends, their country, or any other social group.
Tribalism has been defined in engaged theory as a 'way of being' based upon variable combinations of kinship-based organization, reciprocal exchange, manual production, oral communication, and analogical enquiry. Ontologically, tribalism is oriented around the valences of analogy, genealogy and mythology. This means that customary tribes have their social foundations in some variation of these tribal orientations, while at the same time often taking on traditional practices (including through religions of the book such as Christianity and Islam), and modern practices, including monetary exchange, mobile communications, and modern education.
The social structure of a tribe can vary greatly from case to case, but, due to the relatively small size of customary tribes, social life in those kinds of tribes usually involves a relatively undifferentiated role structure, with few significant political or economic distinctions between individuals.

Enter Shikari's debut studio album, Take to the Skies, was released on 19 March 2007 and reached number 4 in the Official UK Album Chart; their second, Common Dreads, was released on 15 June 2009 and debuted on the UK Albums Chart at number 16; and their third, A Flash Flood of Colour, was released on 16 January 2012 and debuted on the chart at number 4. The band is named after Shikari, a boat belonging to vocalist Rou Reynolds' uncle, and has had the same four members since the addition of Clewlow in 2003.

Author and "manosphere" authority Jack Donovan speaks at the 2014 American Renaissance Conference on the threat global capitalism poses to genuine identity. Irony and cheap commercialism are enemies, he says, and those who best counter these trends are "rebels of sincerity" who aren't afraid to discriminate. www.AmRen.com

tribalism and how to converse with people you don't necessarily agree with
http://bigthink.com/ We've all noticed it - on television and the social web, an increase in politically partisan polemic and cultural isolationism. This "us vs. them" mentality doesn't reflect the best of America, past or present, says author and essayist Marilynne Robinson. Directed / Produced by Elizabeth Rodd and Jonathan Fowler
One of Africa's famous scholars Calestous Juma has claimed that tribalism is damaging the march to democracy across Africa. In a recent article the Harvard University professor wrote of his fears that such tensions worsen at election time, for example in his native Kenya, because African political parties appeal to their electorate on the basis of tribe rather than by the appeal of their ideas. But some African presidents, including Robert Mugabe who'll face election this year and Rwanda's Paul Kagame have argued that western-style democracy can make tribalism worse, and that Africa must develop its own style of governance. Other researchers, such as Ngala Killian of the British Institute in East Africa accuse Professor Juma of imposing western style definitions onto African societies. ...
Many African countries experience violence and intimidation fuelled by tribalism. But Tanzania seems to be an exception. Despite having more than 100 ethnic groups and bordering eight countries, it has succeeded in overcoming tribal tensions in a region where some neighbours have failed to do so. The BBC's Tulanana Bohela reports from Dar Es Salaam.

Is it possible to ensure that public institutions in general and public universities in particular have the face of Kenya? A report published by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission indicated that only five public universities in Kenya are not dominated by one community. Even Moi University which hit the headlines earlier in the week has not met the integration test, with sixty per cent of its staff coming from one community, Kalenjin. Our reporter Andrew Ochieng has the details. Watch more NTV Kenya videos at ntv.co.ke and nation.co.ke. Follow @ntvkenya on Twitter and like our page on Facebook: NTV Kenya.

Education Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i has defended the appointment of Professor Laban Ayiro as acting Vice Chancellor of Moi University. Matiang'i says he followed the law and the appointment will not be revoked. This was in response to Tuesday’s protest by politicians led by Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago and his Elgeyo Marakwet counterpart Alex Tolgos who claimed that Ayiro is an ‘outsider’ and wanted him replaced with Professor Isaac Kosgey. Shikari, it was a third generation Aztec
His tribe accepting human reality
It was the basis of their ability
To sustain with humble tranquility
But civilization encouraged religions
Which in turn introduced depravity
And that was a bigger realization
As when my boy Newton discovered gravity
'Cause it transformed the way we bounce
About on a daily basis, not content with a doubt
About the knowledge of who's up there
Quick, give him a name, a trident, and a chair
Sharpish, what happened to wonder?
Why can't we accept we're not capable of thunder?
So we welcome the lies with open arms
And we turn into suckers when they turn on the charm
You're trying to run us all into the ground
To be swallowed by the soil and trapped by the rain
In your concrete garden of falseness
You shout through our speakers
And we don't turn them off 'cause, trapped in silence
It's tougher but this time, we'll turn the speakers off
And we won't stay silent, we'll make as much noise
As we can and I ask what's a thought without a voice
To voice it? It's just a thought
And I ask what's a thought without a voice
To voice it? It's just a thought
The original affluent society
Floating free of capitalistic anxiety
But all that has survived now is the pack vibe
But the catch is dogs don't eat other dogs
We're able animals, employed by criminals
In this cannibalistic society
Where we scrimp and save just to behave
With the utmost propriety
You're trying to run us all into the ground
To be swallowed by the soil and trapped by the rain
In your concrete garden of falseness
You're trying to run us all into the ground
To be swallowed by the soil and trapped by the rain
In your concrete garden of falseness
You shout through our speakers
And we don't turn them off
'Cause, trapped in silence, it's tougher
But this time, we'll turn the speakers off
And we won't stay silent
We'll make as much noise as we can
And I ask what's a thought without a voice
To voice it? It's just a thought
We will shout our heads off, we won't stop until you hear
We won't stop until you trip up upon yourselves
