Tenmon (天門), born Atsushi Shirakawa (白川 篤史, Shirakawa Atsushi), is a Japanese music composer from Tokyo, Japan born in 1971. He worked in the Nihon Falcom Corporation as one of the members of Falcom Sound Team J.D.K.. During his time with Falcom, he has composed much music for Falcom games, most notably Brandish.
Having known Makoto Shinkai as a coworker in Minori he has composed music for Shinkai's works since She and Her Cat. He is perhaps best known for creating the soundtracks for Shinkai's subsequent works, Voices of a Distant Star, The Place Promised in Our Early Days, 5 Centimeters Per Second and Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below.
In 2009, an album, titled "Promise" ("新海誠作品イメージアルバム「Promise」"), performed by the Eminence Symphony Orchestra, based in Sydney, Australia, was released, celebrating ten years of collaboration between Tenmon and Makoto Shinkai. It consists of orchestral arrangements of a variety of pieces composed by Tenmon appearing in a range of Makoto Shinkai's works.
5 Centimeters Per Second (Japanese: 秒速5センチメートル, Hepburn: Byōsoku 5 Senchimētoru) is a 2007 Japanese animated feature film by Makoto Shinkai. The film was finished on 22 January 2007. The first part of the film was released on Yahoo! Japan as streaming video to Yahoo! Premium members from 16 to 19 February 2007. On 3 March 2007, the full length featured film had its theatrical premiere at Cinema Rise in Shibuya, Tokyo. The film consists of three segments: Cherry Blossom (桜花抄, Ōkashō), Cosmonaut (コスモナウト, Kosumonauto), and 5 Centimeters per Second (秒速5センチメートル, Byōsoku 5 Senchimētoru), totaling about an hour of runtime. As in Shinkai's previous works, Tenmon composed this film's soundtrack. The film was awarded Best Animated Feature Film at the 2007 Asia Pacific Screen Awards. The DVD was released on 19 July 2007.
A novelization of 5 Centimeters Per Second was released, expanding on the film. In the July 2010 issue of the manga anthology Afternoon, a manga adaptation started serialization, illustrated by Seike Yukiko.
Lost Empire is a 4X turn-based strategy video game developed by Pollux Gamelabs and released in June 2007.
The game is set in the year 4620. There are seven major civilizations in space, humankind is one of them. The story is that an attack led by an unknown evil alien race has almost destroyed the seven civilizations, and they are therefore now trying to expand furthest in order to ensure their continued survival. However, a powerful character with devious motives known as Enais is interfering with the seven civilizations and their expansion plans.
You play the leader of one of the seven civilizations and must bring this civilization to victory by dominating the galaxy. It is possible to achieve victory through military domination, diplomacy, research, culture, or by killing the character Enais.
The game was released June 14, 2007 and quickly went to the top of the charts on the Paradox Interactive homepage. It featured 7 major races, 45 minor races, a huge tech tree, 3D-battles, a very large galaxy with 5000 solar systems, and a special dragon-like race called the Chi Lung-race, which the player can choose to play. The game is mod-able with the possibility to tweak and change science descriptions, their effects, races, artwork, all text, and more. Lost Empire was nominated "Best Game of the Year" in 2006 at the D3Expo.
Tenmon (天門, Tenmon) is the ninja art of understanding and using meteorology as a strategic weapon. It allowed ninja to foresee weather changes and to use them as an advantage. By knowing nature's changes, animal behaviour, or atmospheric signs, one could use rainy weather or a hot sunny period as strategic elements to weaken and defeat the enemy.
Composer: Tenmon (天門) Violin: Eco Nakayama (中山エーコ) Album: 「悠久の老木」Lost Empire Saga Track 8 Image by eighBee (Pixiv 435386) "One sunny day ~A place in the sun~" However, the first part could also be "One day, after the rain". Yay ambiguity. Another favorite from this album, even though I could say that about most of its tracks. Some beautiful violin work here.
Composer: Tenmon (天門) Vocal & Lyrics: Yuuki Mizusawa (みずさわゆうき) Album: 「悠久の老木」Lost Empire Saga Track 5 Even though Tenmon is a fairly little known composer, he still manages to have very little known works. This album, released in 2006 on the Comic Market 69, being one of them. And that is a huge shame, because in my opinion it contains some of his best pieces. And this song in particular is something I feel everyone should know. Before anyone asks, yes, the lyrics are in a made-up language. The Japanese version was in the liner notes. A note from the liner comments "My favorite form, suite. 11 minutes is quite a long piece (laughing). But some day, when I improve my composition, I want to make an even longer one."

Midterm for my film class. An advocacy against cruelties done to kids. Disclaimer: the song isn't mine. It is from the visual novel, "ef - a fairy tale of the two". The song's title is frailty feather and it was composed by Tenmon.
