It's there last training exercise before graduating basic training. A culmination of everything they've learned during their 14 week introduction to the U.S. Army. In this edition of The Making of a Soldier, we get special access to what's called the final FTX. Kenia Mills reports.
This video is a review of FTX Global by ORBX for FSX.
I compare the default scenery of FSX in London City and UK countryside and then the effect when FTX Global is installed.
Is it a worthwhile add on?
It should be noted that the scenery is designed to be one of a number of layers which combine to create a much greater impact. And so whilst the review is of one layer, there is potentially more to come.
Unfortunately, for some reason, Fraps didn't record it's own frame rate counter.
I got 35 FPS in London and 58-60 FPS at Welshpool with default scenery.
With FTX, I got 38-40 FPS in London and 56-60 FPS in the countryside.
I would also point out that these frame rates are with Fraps recording which slows down FSX greatly (A hit of anything between 15 and 30 FPS loss when recording).

Here's my next project truck: the FTX Carnage. There's a few pics to show what you get with it and then some bashing on a couple of different surfaces using the stock battery & another one I bought afterwards. Had a few problems the first time I ran this and it's still not quite right here so I'm not going too crazy with it, but after a few adjustments and some threadlock it should be ok, then I'll start on some upgrades...

Hi, this video is a detailed and comprehensive look at the ORBX FTX England scenery package.
I have compared it with the FTX Global scenery pack, but in reality the comments are valid for a comparison with the default as well. The airfields I visit are Walney Island (Cumbria), London City and Fenland (Lincolnshire).
Unfortunately, for some reason I don't know, there is a section between 33:30 and 37:50 where there is sound, but just a black screen. Sorry, but I no longer have the original to re-upload it. :-(
The video is compiled of 9 seperate recordings of photo's, FSX and FTX video's of 3 distinct airfields, just to show the fantastic work ORBX have put into this. The improvements are marked and very impressive.
The problem is that I occasionally repeat myself, but at least I'm highlighting key good and bad points when doing so. Lol.
I feel that their efforts deserve a thorough and detailed inspection, and they are not found wanting with what I have seen.

In molecular biology, FTX transcript, XIST regulator (non-protein coding), also known as FTX (Five prime to Xist), is a long non-coding RNA. In humans, it is located on the X chromosome. It was identified during sequence analysis of the X inactivation centre, surrounding the XIST gene. FTX contains several microRNAs within its introns. It upregulates expression of XIST, and inhibits DNA methylation of the XIST promoter.

Here's my next project truck: the FTX Carnage. There's a few pics to show what you get with it and then some bashing on a couple of different surfaces using the stock battery & another one I bought afterwards. Had a few problems the first time I ran this and it's still not quite right here so I'm not going too crazy with it, but after a few adjustments and some threadlock it should be ok, then I'll start on some upgrades...

Hi, this video is a detailed and comprehensive look at the ORBX FTX England scenery package.
I have compared it with the FTX Global scenery pack, but in reality the comments are valid for a comparison with the default as well. The airfields I visit are Walney Island (Cumbria), London City and Fenland (Lincolnshire).
Unfortunately, for some reason I don't know, there is a section between 33:30 and 37:50 where there is sound, but just a black screen. Sorry, but I no longer have the original to re-upload it. :-(
The video is compiled of 9 seperate recordings of photo's, FSX and FTX video's of 3 distinct airfields, just to show the fantastic work ORBX have put into this. The improvements are marked and very impressive.
The problem is that I occasionally repeat myself, but at least I'm highlighting key good and bad points when doing so. Lol.
I feel that their efforts deserve a thorough and detailed inspection, and they are not found wanting with what I have seen.
