Amazing footage of East Creek near Chalk Drive / Chalk Lane rising and washing away lots of cars during Flash Flood in Toowoomba on Monday 10 January 2011. This is some of the best footage I have seen of the Flood and was taken from the second floor of our office which backs onto Chalk Lane.
It shows just how fast the creek turned into a torrent and quickly flooded Chalk Drive and Chalk Lane.
I also got some video of where the creek crosses Neil Street and some video of the aftermath and the huge amount of cars damaged and piled on top of one another in the Chalk Drive car park.

So this is the biggest disaster Michael has ever caused. My mom had just flown in and wanted to see the kids before they went to bed. We were out, about to grab something at the grocery store, so we came back home to see Papa and Nanny first. We had just sat down on the couch to hear about my mom's trip when i asked where Michael was (it was awfully quiet). A few moments later, I heard this sound but couldn't quite pinpoint the sound. I wondered if Michael was in his favorite place (sarcastic)...the bathroom. I started realizing it sounded like water being poured or sprayed, so we ran to the bathroom. Water was literally POURING from the toilet. Talk about a mess. We don't even know how Michael plugged the toilet in order to get it to overflow like that, but we think one of the twins left a pair of undies on the floor when he had gone to the bathroom and michael tried to flush them along with a bunch of toilet paper. The toilet still isn't quite working right so we will be removing it and investigating further this weekend...
It's tricky because the other little kids in the house have trouble remembering to shut the bathroom door behind them, then Michael can get into the bathroom. Toilet locks also aren't an option because when the twins have to use the bathroom, they usually wait till the last minute, so they have an accident if they have to wait. So for now, we just have to be more diligent about keeping the bathroom door shut when Michael is not in his play area.

A flood is an overflow of an expanse of water that submerges land. The European Union (EU) Floods Directive defines a flood as a covering by water of land not normally covered by water. In the sense of "flowing water", the word may also be applied to the inflow of the tide. Flooding may result from the volume of water within a body of water, such as a river or lake, which overflows or breaks levees, with the result that some of the water escapes its usual boundaries.
While the size of a lake or other body of water will vary with seasonal changes in precipitation and snow melt, it is not a significant flood unless such escapes of water endanger land areas used by man like a village, city or other inhabited area.
Floods can also occur in rivers, when flow exceeds the capacity of the river channel, particularly at bends or meanders. Floods often cause damage to homes and businesses if they are placed in natural flood plains of rivers. While flood damage can be virtually eliminated by moving away from rivers and other bodies of water, since time out of mind, people have lived and worked by the water to seek sustenance and capitalize on the gains of cheap and easy travel and commerce by being near water. That humans continue to inhabit areas threatened by flood damage is evidence that the perceived value of living near the water exceeds the cost of repeated periodic flooding.

Amazing footage of East Creek near Chalk Drive / Chalk Lane rising and washing away lots of cars during Flash Flood in Toowoomba on Monday 10 January 2011. This is some of the best footage I have seen of the Flood and was taken from the second floor of our office which backs onto Chalk Lane. It shows just how fast the creek turned into a torrent and quickly flooded Chalk Drive and Chalk Lane. I also got some video of where the creek crosses Neil Street and some video of the aftermath and the huge amount of cars damaged and piled on top of one another in the Chalk Drive car park. ***** With the incredible exposure that my video is receiving all over the internet and media worldwide I would like to encourage you to donate to the relief appeals. Baby Floods the House!
So this is the biggest disaster Michael has ever caused. My mom had just flown in and wanted to see the kids before they went to bed. We were out, about to grab something at the grocery store, so we came back home to see Papa and Nanny first. We had just sat down on the couch to hear about my mom's trip when i asked where Michael was (it was awfully quiet). A few moments later, I heard this sound but couldn't quite pinpoint the sound. I wondered if Michael was in his favorite place (sarcastic)...the bathroom. I started realizing it sounded like water being poured or sprayed, so we ran to the bathroom. Water was literally POURING from the toilet. Talk about a mess. We don't even know how Michael plugged the toilet in order to get it to overflow like that, but we think one of the twins... -

So this is the biggest disaster Michael has ever caused. My mom had just flown in and wanted to see the kids before they went to bed. We were out, about to grab something at the grocery store, so we came back home to see Papa and Nanny first. We had just sat down on the couch to hear about my mom's trip when i asked where Michael was (it was awfully quiet). A few moments later, I heard this sound but couldn't quite pinpoint the sound. I wondered if Michael was in his favorite place (sarcastic)...the bathroom. I started realizing it sounded like water being poured or sprayed, so we ran to the bathroom. Water was literally POURING from the toilet. Talk about a mess. We don't even know how Michael plugged the toilet in order to get it to overflow like that, but we think one of the twins left a pair of undies on the floor when he had gone to the bathroom and michael tried to flush them along with a bunch of toilet paper. The toilet still isn't quite working right so we will be removing it and investigating further this weekend...
It's tricky because the other little kids in the house have trouble remembering to shut the bathroom door behind them, then Michael can get into the bathroom. Toilet locks also aren't an option because when the twins have to use the bathroom, they usually wait till the last minute, so they have an accident if they have to wait. So for now, we just have to be more diligent about keeping the bathroom door shut when Michael is not in his play area.

At least 7 people died in this deluge. Fears of mudslides prompted authorities to evacuate thousands from their homes, many of which are mining communities situated in narrow valleys that cross the desert.
