West Sussex is a county in the south of England, bordering East Sussex (with Brighton and Hove) to the east, Hampshire to the west and Surrey to the north, and to the south the English Channel. Chichester in the southwest is the county town and only city in West Sussex, with the largest towns being Crawley, Worthing and Horsham.
West Sussex has a range of scenery, including wealden, downland and coastal. The highest point of the county is Blackdown, at 280 metres (919 ft). It has a number of stately homes including Goodwood, Petworth House and Uppark and also castles such as Arundel Castle and Bramber Castle. Over half the county is protected countryside, offering walking, cycling and other recreational opportunities.
Although the name Sussex, derived from the Old English 'Sūþsēaxe' ('South Saxons'), is from the Saxon period between AD 477 to 1066, the history of human habitation in Sussex goes back to the Old Stone Age. The oldest hominin remains known in Britain were found at Eartham Pit, Boxgrove. Sussex has been occupied since those times and has succumbed to various invasions and migrations throughout its long history.

Bognor Regis /ˌbɒɡnər ˈriːdʒᵻs/ is a seaside resort town and civil parish, administratively in the Arun district of the non metropolitan county of West Sussex, within the historic county of Sussex, on the south coast of England. It is 55.5 miles (89 km) south-west of London, 24 miles (39 km) west of Brighton, and 5.81 miles (9 km) south-east of the city of Chichester. Other nearby towns include Littlehampton east-north-east and Selsey to the south-west. The nearby villages of Felpham, and Aldwick are now suburbs of Bognor Regis, along with those of North and South Bersted.
A factor underpinning the growth of the resort was its station opened in 1864 on what was a sandy, undeveloped coastline. Consequently, small numbers of wealthy Victorian figures established large homes in the area and a seaside resort was developed by Sir Richard Hotham. It has been claimed that Hotham and his new resort are portrayed in Jane Austen's unfinished novel Sanditon. In 1929 the area was chosen by advisors to King George V which led to its regal suffix, by royal consent. Butlin's has been involved in the town since the early 1930s when an amusement park and zoo were opened. A holiday camp followed in 1960 and this has more recently moved towards hotel accommodation with modern amenities.

Once again I ask you to sit back and enjoy the view from the train window for the first part of our trip along Scotland’s Far North Line. We are fortunate to see most of this journey in bright winter sunshine as we make our way from Inverness to Lairg, where poor weather and fading light force an early end to filming. We cover the rest of the Far North Line on our return journey - (Bognor Regis to Wick & Thurso Pt 4)

Take a tour of Beachy Head in England -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions series by GeoBeats. In the English East Sussex county, lies a tranquil chalk headland, the Beachy Head. The chalk formation started accumulating more than 65 million years ago, around the period known as Late Cretaceous. Lying in the vicinity of the Seven Sisters chalks cliffs, this serene place is simply entrancing with gorgeous views of the sea, the sky, and the land. There are two lighthouses built on the surroundings of this headland, because it posed a significant threat to ships. Due to the continuous erosion of the cliffs, the Belle Tout lighthouse had to be shifted 17 meters inland. Steep cliffs, pristine blue waters, green lands rest unruffled in the laps of nature set to spellbin...
