New Orleans (/nuː ˈɔːrlɪnz/,/nuː ˈɔːrliənz/, /nuː ɔːrˈliːnz/, or /ˈnɔːrlənz/; French: La Nouvelle-Orléans [la nuvɛlɔʁleɑ̃]) is a major United States port and the largest city and the center of the metropolitan area in the state of Louisiana. The population of the city was 343,829 as of the 2010 U.S. Census. The New Orleans metropolitan area (New Orleans–Metairie–Kenner Metropolitan Statistical Area) had a population of 1,167,764 in 2010 and was the 46th largest in the United States. The city is named after the Duke of Orleans, who reigned as Regent for Louis XV from 1715 to 1723, as it was established by French colonists and strongly influenced by their European culture. It is well known for its distinct French and Spanish Creole architecture, as well as its cross-cultural and multilingual heritage. New Orleans is also famous for its cuisine, music (particularly as the birthplace of jazz), and its annual celebrations and festivals, most notably Mardi Gras, dating to French colonial times. The city is often referred to as the "most unique" in the United States.

The New Orleans Pelicans are an American professional basketball team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Pelicans are a member club of the Southwest Division of the Western Conference in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The team plays their home games in the Smoothie King Center (formerly known as the New Orleans Arena).
The Pelicans were established as the New Orleans Hornets in the 2002–03 season when then-owner of the Charlotte Hornets, George Shinn, relocated the franchise to New Orleans. Due to the damage caused by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the franchise temporarily relocated to Oklahoma City, where they spent two seasons officially known as the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets. The team returned to New Orleans full-time for the 2007–08 season. On January 24, 2013, the franchise announced it would rename itself the Pelicans, effective after the conclusion of the 2012–13 season. The Charlotte Hornets name, history and records from 1988–2002 were returned to its original city to be used by the then-Charlotte Bobcats franchise, which subsequently became the Charlotte Hornets, starting May 20, 2014.

I've always heard lots about the southern states of America but never before had a chance to go. New Orleans really seems to be at the centre of all of this. A melting pot of cultures and influences; a physical embodiment of the intriguing and complex history of the south. I've always wanted to visit. So when we approached Marriott to help us film a travel series it seemed like the perfect opportunity. This is my journey though New Orleans in 24 hours. High school has always been tough. But for the students at Walter L. Cohen High School in New Orleans, it’s a struggle for survival in city still reeling in many ways from Katrina. Today, the Big Easy has one of the highest homicide rates in the country. And for the young people and staff at Cohen, even believing in success can be a stretch. But thanks to a determined group of teachers and a principal who won’t let anyone quit – the kids at Cohen are learning to dream. And to act on those dreams – even in the face of losing several of their own
New Orleans Gangs Documentary 2016 : The Gotti Boyz are INSANE ! New orleans has a very dark side; vicious, merciless gangs. Executions, drug dealing, and kidnapping is only a few of the crimes committed in New Orleans. There are a few gangs dominating the area, but the biggest one, by now doubt, is the Gotti Boyz. Unlike the crips, bloods, or other gangs, they don’t usually wear specific clothes, and care about nothing. Because they grew up in a very poor area, they seem to be more serious and scary. They called themselves “ gotti” because they “ got it / get it “ meaning, they will get what they want and nothing will stop them. Viewer discretion advised !
