This short film covers the creation of a Kitchen Knife by UK Bladesmith Owen Bush. There is slow motion footage of the forging and other processes. The film was made by Gavin Bush (Owen's Brother) and the music was composed and played by Gavin Bush.
We wanted to capture some of the aspects of the craft that I find beautiful I hope that comes across.
I have named this film "Forging Soul into Steel" as this has been my motto during the past 20 years of my smithing career.
Our director and founder Drew spent a week with designer Sebastian Ng Lei at the South East London forge of noted bladesmith, swordsmith and artisan blacksmith Owen Bush.
Over the 7 days they built a furnace from scratch, smelted ore into steel, forged blades, shaped and sharpened them and fit handles.
He documented the process of crafting a tanto knife from start to finish on the Drift Ghost-S, a camera he also designed. Other mounts used were the Drift Monopod and Drift Timelapse.

As part of BBC Four Goes Slow, this programme follows the forging of a steel knife. From the slow stoking of the fire to the hammering, welding and etching of the metal, the film is an absorbing portrait of the complex processes behind the making of the knife.
Forged in a spectacular industrial space, bladesmith Owen Bush uses a combination of modern and traditional techniques, some of which date to ancient times.
The most time-consuming element of the process is the shaping and blending of a sandwich of steels into a blade which, after polishing is placed in a bath of acids, revealing an intricate pattern - a technique used by the Vikings and Saxons.
The bold style of the film-making, making use of long, static shots and with no music or commentary, allows the viewer to simply enjoy watching the painstaking and highly skilled craftsmanship.

Owen Bush (November 10, 1921 – June 12, 2001) was an American actor. Born in Savannah, Missouri, he went on to have a lengthy career in television and film. His best-known roles were on the soap opera Passions and in the last 2 Prehysteria! films as Mr. Cranston.

The Franklin child prostitution ring allegations took place between 1988 and 1991 and involved an alleged child sex ring serving prominent citizens of the Nebraska Republican Party, as well as high-level U.S. politicians.[1] The allegations also claimed that the alleged sex ring was led by, "a cult of devil worshipers involved in the mutilation, sacrifice and cannibalism of numerous children."[1] The allegations centered on the actions of Lawrence E. King Jr., who ran the now defunct Franklin Community Federal Credit Union (FCFCU) in Omaha, Nebraska.[2]
The Nebraska State Foster Care Review Board submitted the results of a two-year investigation into the alleged physical and sexual abuse of foster children to the Executive Board of the Nebraska Legislature, who were investigating reports of child sexual abuse linked to the credit union. Authorities launched a probe, interviewing a number of claimed abuse victims who said that children in foster care were flown to the U.S. East Coast and were abused at "bad parties."[3] After investigation, a grand jury in Douglas County (of which Omaha, Nebraska is the largest city and county seat) determined the abuse allegations were baseless, describing them as a "carefully crafted hoax" and indicted two of the accusers on perjury charges.[4] The grand jury also suggested that the abuse stories originated from a vindictive employee terminated by Boys Town, the famed refuge for troubled youths.[4] Later, a federal grand jury concluded that the abuse allegations were unfounded and indicted 21-year-old Alisha Owen, an alleged victim, on eight counts of perjury. The same grand jury also indicted multiple officers of the credit union, including King, for crimes related to the embezzlement of funds from the credit union Alisha Owen served 4-1/2 years in prison.
Historian Philip Jenkins explored how hot topics such as the Franklin allegations, whether or not they are worthy of attention or credible on their own merits, are seized by political opportunists for their own purposes. He also described how cases such as the Franklin allegations can acquire credibility, even if they lack any credibility inherently, when reported in various media in a credulous voice. Numerous conspiracy theories evolved and persist, claiming that the alleged abuse was part of a widespread series of crimes including devil worship, cannibalism, drug trafficking, CIA arms dealing and links with the first Bush Administration

Owen Bush Forges a Damascus Kitchen Knife
This short film covers the creation of a Kitchen Knife by UK Bladesmith Owen Bush. There is slow motion footage of the forging and other processes. The film was made by Gavin Bush (Owen's Brother) and the music was composed and played by Gavin Bush. We wanted to capture some of the aspects of the craft that I find beautiful I hope that comes across. I have named this film "Forging Soul into Steel" as this has been my motto during the past 20 years of my smithing career.

Ma Barker's Killer Brood is a crime film, released in 1960. The low-budget film was directed by Bill Karn and starred Lurene Tuttle as the title character, Ma Barker.
The film is a highly fictionalized account of the life of Ma Barker and her four sons, whose Barker-Karpis gang terrorized the South and Midwest in the 1930s with a string of kidnappings, robberies, and murders. The gang members also depicted working with other well-known criminals of the era, including John Dillinger (Eric Sinclair), and Baby Face Nelson (Robert Kendall).
PLOT
To the horror of her husband, Kate Barker, known as "Ma," teaches her four young sons to steal money from the collection plate in church. Her husband tries to convince her to stop using her sons to commit crimes, but is ignored. Ma expresses her contempt for "sissies" and says that "guts" is the only virtue. Her husband leaves her when their sensitive son Herman is arrested after Ma forces him to rob a fun fair. After this, the local sheriff runs Ma Barker and her boys out of town.
Years later, she has become a hardened criminal along with her sons. She is known in the underworld for her ruthlessness and efficiency in planning "jobs." At a party she hosts for leading criminals Machine Gun Kelly, encouraged by his brash girlfriend Lou, claims he can work without her. Ma is dismissive. After Kelly's independent attempt at a kidnapping fails, Ma belittles Lou. Lou plans revenge. Meanwhile psychopathic killer Alvin Karpis is introduced to the gang. Ma uses him to get rid of weaklings and threats. Ma's drunken new husband Arthur Dunlop is murdered when he blabs about their activities, as is corrupt mob-doctor, Dr. Guelffe.
After a failed robbery Herman shoots himself to avoid capture by the police. Ma is embittered, but plans a major kidnapping that will make the gang rich. She kidnaps wealthy banker, Mr. Khortney. Lou and Kelly discover Ma's hideout and plan to take the kidnap victim from her by force, to collect the ransom themselves, but they are outmaneuvered when Ma reveals she has Baby Face Nelson and John Dillinger with her. The kidnap money is collected, but now the FBI are after the gang. Knowing that Ma's son Doc Barker is attracted to her, Lou seduces him in order to bring him over to her side, but her plan is foiled when the FBI arrest him. They discover a letter that reveals Ma's whereabouts. At a house with her son Fred, she is surrounded by four agents. Fred wants to surrender, but she refuses, and guns down two agents with a Tommy gun. The other agents open fire, killing Fred. Ma strides out with a blazing gun, and is cut down.

This video is directed towards President Barack Obama, the American Taxpayer and the American voter. Viewing of this video is Not intended for the people in the Philippines. Although if viewed by Filipinos, there are good issues within this video that should be considered by the Philippine government and the Filipino people that would improve the conditions of this country.
It has come to my attention that President Obama plans to visit the Philippines towards the end of April, 2014. To follow is some background on myself and the reasons why President Obama should Not visit the Philippines.
I ran for US Congress in east Texas (TX-01) in 2006 (the Democratic Nominee) and 2008 (as an Independent) against Louie Gohmert. One of several endorsements was the Libertarian Party in east Texas. After that lose, I moved to the Philippines Jan., 2009.
I made a 45 minute video explaining why President Obama should not visit the Philippines in April. I also make reference to a lot of issues ( Immigration, Education, the US Embassy in Manila, etc.) in that video which you may find of interest if I would have defeated Louie Gohmert.
My position is President Obama should not be wasting the American Taxpayer's Money (or tarnishing the image of Washington DC) on countries like the Philippines. And also feel free to share the above link if you see any value in this video.
