She won the Best Actress Award at the 1952 Cannes Film Festival for her role as the shoplifter in the 1951 film version of Detective Story. She won the 1964 Obie Award for Distinguished Performance by an Actress for her performance as Solange in Jean Genet's The Maids. She won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Felicia Karpf in Shampoo (1975). Lee Grant was born Lyova Haskell Rosenthal in Manhattan, the only child of Witia (née Haskell), an actress and teacher, and Abraham W. Rosenthal, a realtor and educator. Her father was born in New York City, to Polish Jewish immigrants, and her mother was a Russian Jewish immigrant. The family resided at 706 Riverside Drive in the Hamilton Heights neighborhood of Manhattan. Her date of birth is October 31 but the year has long been disputed, with different sourcing citing dates between 1925 and 1929.

Plot: The suspicious death of Henry King during a hunting trip with his brother John leaves the inheritance of the rich Santa Rita Ranch to be shared with John, Henry's daughter Doris and a young girl from New York, Twinkle Watts. King says that a son, Henry King Jr., who left home as a young boy was killed in a Texas gunfight. The unscrupulous John King, whose arrogance and power have earned him the nickname of King John, has turned down a million dollar offer from the railroad for right-of-way across the ranch, intending to postpone acceptance of the offer until - with the aid of crooked attorney Two-Way Hanlon - he has put Doris and Twinkle out of the way. Lee Grant and his pal Jimpson Simpson go to the aid of a railroad survey crew who are in a gun battle with King's foreman, Ace Holden. Lee turns down an offer to work for King, saying he is looking for a ranch to buy. He also meets Tom Traynor, crusading newspaper editor and Doris' sweetheart, who has been threatened with death if he continues his fight against King John. Lee investigates the situation and becomes convinced that King plans to kill the two remaining heirs since, in reality he is the long-gone son of Henry King, and has returned to find the killer of his father.

Grant on April 9, 1865 Historical interpreters, Larry Clowers (Grant) and Ted Kachel (Lee) bring two iconic American military leaders to life, taking us back to the meeting that brought an end to the U.S. Civil War. At Appomattox, Virginia, Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrenders his 28,000 troops to Union General Ulysses S. Grant, effectively ending the American Civil War. Forced to abandon the Confederate capital of Richmond, blocked from joining the surviving Confederate force in North Carolina, and harassed constantly by Union cavalry, Lee had no other option. In retreating from the Union army’s Appomattox Campaign, the Army of Northern Virginia had stumbled through the Virginia count...

Love should mean so much
But the only kind I touch was incomplete
Till the moment I found you
That's the moment that I knew
There's someone like me
Who still believes somethings are meant to be
Someone who needs forever someone like you
Holding on to the same dream I've been dreaming of
Someone who still believes in love
So here you are at last
We can feel what's come to pass
Is here to stay
World can come and go
It won't matter 'cause I know
There's someone like me
Who still believes somethings are meant to be
Someone who needs forever someone like you
Holding on to the same dream I've been dreaming of
Someone who still believes in love yeah
Someone like you
Holding on to the same dream
I've been dreaming of
Someone who still believes in love
