Nine Lives is the ninth album by Bonnie Raitt, released in 1986 (see 1986 in music). It was Raitt's most difficult release, due to the poor sales, negative reviews, and general circumstances surrounding its release.
"In 1983 there was a corporate sweep at Warner's, coming from upstairs, and they needed to trim the fat," Raitt recalled in 1990. "I just had completed an album called Tongue & Groove, which was produced by Rob Fraboni, who had also done Green Light. And I don't think they maliciously said, 'Let's let her finish her album and get the tour all lined up and print the covers and hire the people to do the video and then drop her.' You know, ha, ha, ha. But that's what they did. It was literally the day after I had finished mastering it. I had already finished the album once, and [Warner's claimed] the Jerry Williams tune would be more commercial if it didn't have quite as reggae a beat. Or something like that. So I went in and redid it. I thought if I cooperated a little more, maybe they'd promote the album more. But instead they dropped me and pulled the rug out from under my tour. I thought the way they did it was real crummy. They sent a letter. I think I suffered from not having a relationship with the A&R department there, because I had an independent production deal..."

Wildlife is the second studio album by American post-hardcore band La Dispute, released October 4, 2011, on independent label No Sleep Records. Recording sessions for the album took place primarily at StadiumRed in New York in April 2011. The band members took control of all of the production duties alongside the album's recording engineers, Andrew Everding and Joseph Pedulla. Wildlife was their last release on No Sleep Records before forming their own record label, Better Living.
Noted by music writers for its varied elements, Wildlife incorporates musical components from La Dispute's previous releases, particularly Somewhere at the Bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair and Here, Hear III., and genres such as screamo, progressive rock and post-rock. The album features lyrical themes that – while making several references to the band's home town of Grand Rapids – focus on personal loss, anger, and despair and, in the vision of the band, is a collection of unpublished "short stories" from a hypothetical author, complete with the author’s notes and sectioned thematically by the use of four monologues.
Wildlife are a Canadian indie rock band formed in 2005. The band is currently based in Toronto. The band's debut LP Strike Hard, Young Diamond was favourably received by both Exclaim! and Chart.
Band members Dean Povinsky, Graham Plant and Dwayne Christie are originally from Oshawa, Ontario. Wildlife began as an entity in 2005, when singer/guitarist Povinsky and guitarist Darryl Smith left Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario and moved to Glasgow to form and play in a band. The group, also comprising Scottish drummer Peter Kelly and Canadian Billy Holmes, spent time travelling, writing songs, recording and playing small venues around Glasgow. The dark days, rain, and a general homesickness led the members to abandon the project and return to Canada.
Povinsky moved to Toronto with the intention of continuing Wildlife with childhood friend Graham Plant on guitar, drummer Dwayne Christie and Julia Mensink playing synthesizer. The group was rounded out when bassist Derek Bosomworth was procured via a Craigslist advertisement. The band is currently based in Toronto.
Wildlife is an EP produced by British heavy metal band, Girlschool and published only in Europe. It was released in 1982 by Bronze Records as a launch for the album Screaming Blue Murder. During the recording sessions for the album, bassist and singer Enid Williams left the band and this EP is the last production made by the original formation. The songs "Don't Call It Love" and "Wildlife" were recorded again for the album with new bass player Ghislaine 'Gil' Weston and new vocal tracks. The EP was also available in a red vinyl edition.
Nine lives.
This is the '90s and I need a lover with nine lives.
With my bad self. If I really had nine lives.
Ouh, ouh. If I really...
Sing Stella
(chorus)
If I really had nine lives. I'd want a lover that controlled my mind.
Someone who knows about the heavenly sin. How to kill with love again, again and again.
When she calls me on the phone, she'll ask if I'm alone.
Standin' at my door, lookin' mega-fine. A heck-a-pump body sayin': Good time.
When all the others talk plenty of jive, my lover talks about nine lives.
The first to promise I'll die from the heat, generated from the moment that our eyes meet.
(repeat chorus)
With my bad self.
Life number three and number for are spent makin' love on the magic floor.
It's got no walls so all can see. The way real love is supposed to be.
Don't be ashamed, my lover said. Then she says "Mmm, I betcha I'm mega-jammin'".
Life number five, six and seven. Need you to ask, go like heaven.
(repeat chorus)
With my bad self. Control me.
If I really had nine lives. I'd want a lover that controlled my mind.
To kill with love, we'd never die. We'd never long for, we'd never cry.
If we live for havin' each other's touch. It's never too little, it's never too much.
Play.
With my bad self.
With my... with my bad self.
If I really had... if I really had... if I really had nine lives.
This is the '90s, and everybody wants a lover.
A life-long lover with nine lives.
This is the '90s.
Sing Stella.
Call me up on the phone.
I'll be here all alone.
I'll be waitin' on you, baby.
I'll be waitin' on you and your nine lives.
Silence...
