For those who started watching WandaVision and were VERY confused by what was happening… don’t worry, we were all there with you! In today’s video, we’ll be clearing up any confusion and going through all the homages and easter eggs the show has to famous sitcoms from throughout the decades!
We have LOVED watching Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bethany perform in the style of so many recognizable shows that made TV history what it is today. From performances to sets - the WandaVision team when all out to bring out the best of TV history in the new Marvel hit. The series started off with tributes to some of the earliest tv shows, like “I Love Lucy” and “I Dream of Jeannie”. The 70’s brought all kinds of laughs and quirks with shows like “The Brady Bunch,” which gets a lot of direct nods in WandaVision.
Then when it was time to visit the 80’s, the show brought in some of Elizabeth Olsen’s personal history with reference to the hit series “Full House” - one of the very first shows she ever appeared in!
The show swung into the 90’s and gave the kids lots of fun tropes to work with, reminiscent of those used in Malcolm in the Middle. Once we arrived in the present day, the references didn’t stop and we found ourselves humming along with the theme song the same way we hum along with the one for the show “The Office.” How many references did you catch?

Dick Cavett has been nominated for eleven Emmy awards (the most recent in 2012 for the HBO special, Mel Brooks and Dick Cavett Together Again), and won three. Spanning five decades, Dick Cavett’s television career has defined excellence in the interview format. He started at ABC in 1968, and also enjoyed success on PBS, USA, and CNBC.
His most recent television successes were the September 2014 PBS special, Dick Cavett’s Watergate, followed April 2015 by Dick Cavett’s Vietnam. He has appeared in movies, tv specials, tv commercials, and several Broadway plays. He starred in an off-Broadway production ofHellman v. McCarthy in 2014 and reprised the role at Theatre 40 in LA February 2015.
Cavett has published four books beginning with Cavett (1974) and Eye on Cavett (1983), co-authored with Christopher Porterfield. His two recent books -- Talk Show: Confrontations, Pointed Commentary, and Off-Screen Secrets (2010) and Brief Encounters: Conversations, Magic moments, and Assorted Hijinks(October 2014) are both collections of his online opinion column, written for The New York Times since 2007. He’s slowed down slightly in recent years — nagging arthritis and a gait abnormality known as drop foot force him to think before he skips — but compared with most everyone else, Van Dyke remains a step ahead. At home on this morning, he and his second wife, Arlene, 49, have already moved through sit-ups, stretches and the stationary bike. Bathed in the Malibu sun, Van Dyke talks about a career that’s stretched from the Truman administration and the sitcom revolution of the 1960s to his reinvention as a mustachioed, homicide-investigating doctor before coming full circle with that shiver-inducing leap onto a desk in the 2018 “Mary Poppins” sequel. And Van Dyke can’t get far without praising his late friend Carl Reiner, the man who hired him in 1961 to put on that crisp suit so he could report to work as television writer Rob Petrie in “The Dick Van Dyke Show.”“I got the best damn comedy writing in the world,” he says. “And then Walt called me about ‘Mary Poppins.’ ”There are many who would say Van Dyke’s upcoming Kennedy Center honor is long overdue. Not the recipient. He will often describe his success as a product of coincidence and chance. He even titled his 2012 memoir “My Lucky Life In and Out of Show Business.” So Van Dyke remains awed by the honor.“I’m trying to piece that together,” he says. “How in the hell did I get to where I am? How did I get to a Kennedy award? You know, I never trained or did anything. I just enjoyed myself.”Just enjoyed myself. That’s the Van Dyke mantra. The notion that simply by laughing, singing or falling over an ottoman — his trademark move in the original “Dick Van Dyke Show” opening — the energy can pass through any screen, big or small, to generate a smile.“He makes people happy,” says Chita Rivera, a friend since they co-starred on Broadway in “Bye Bye Birdie” in 1960. “His job in this life is to make a happier world.”“He sets off endorphins,” says comedian Jim Carrey, who started watching Van Dyke as a boy in Canada and has incorporated some of his physical bits into his work. “If you can live a life and your name sets off endorphins, and people feel generally better when they hear your name than they did before they hear your name, that’s amazing.”There was no plan. There was no backup plan. There was only a poor kid from Illinois who never took a dance lesson, dropped out of high school and, after a decade of bouncing between radio and television gigs, had the good fortune of being handed scripts that were so sharp a club sandwich could have delivered the punchlines. Except that last part is a lie. Words on a page don’t come to life on their own. Reiner called Van Dyke the “most gifted performer I ever worked with” for a reason.

Van
A van is a kind of vehicle used for transporting goods or people. Depending on the type of van it can be bigger or smaller than a truck and SUV, and bigger than an automobile. There is some varying in the scope of the word across the different English-speaking countries. The smallest vans, minivans, are commonly used for transporting people from a family. Larger vans with passenger seats are used for institutional purposes, such as transporting students. Larger vans with only front seats are often used for business purposes, to carry goods and equipment. Specially-equipped vans are used by television stations as mobile studios. Postal services and courier companies use large step vans to deliver packages.
Word origin and usage
Van meaning a type of vehicle arose as a contraction of the word caravan. The early records of van as a vehicle in English are in the mid 19th century meaning a covered wagon for transporting goods (earliest reported record 1829). Caravan with the same meaning has records since the 1670s. A caravan, meaning one wagon, had arisen as an extension or corruption of caravan meaning a convoy of multiple wagons.

Dike (geology)
A dike or dyke, in geological usage, is a sheet of rock that formed in a fracture in a pre-existing rock body. Dikes can be either magmatic or sedimentary in origin. Magmatic dikes form when magma intrudes into a crack then crystallizes as a sheet intrusion, either cutting across layers of rock or through an unlayered mass of rock. Clastic dikes are formed when sediment fills a pre-existing crack.
Magmatic dikes
An intrusive dike is an igneous body with a very high aspect ratio, which means that its thickness is usually much smaller than the other two dimensions. Thickness can vary from sub-centimeter scale to many meters, and the lateral dimensions can extend over many kilometres. A dike is an intrusion into an opening cross-cutting fissure, shouldering aside other pre-existing layers or bodies of rock; this implies that a dike is always younger than the rocks that contain it. Dikes are usually high-angle to near-vertical in orientation, but subsequent tectonic deformation may rotate the sequence of strata through which the dike propagates so that the dike becomes horizontal. Near-horizontal, or conformable intrusions, along bedding planes between strata are called intrusive sills.

A levee, levée (/ˈlɛvi/; French: [ləˈve]), dike, dyke, embankment, floodbank or stopbank is an elongated naturally occurring ridge or artificially constructed fill or wall, which regulates water levels. It is usually earthen and often parallel to the course of a river in its floodplain or along low-lying coastlines.
Etymology
Levee
The word levee, from the French word levée (from the feminine past participle of the French verb lever, "to raise"), is used in American English (notably in the Midwest and Deep South). It originated in New Orleans a few years after the city's founding in 1718 and was later adopted by English speakers. The name derives from the trait of the levee's ridges being raised higher than both the channel and the surrounding floodplains.
Dike
The modern word dike or dyke most likely derives from the Dutch word "dijk", with the construction of dikes in Frisia (now part of the Netherlands and Germany) well attested as early as the 11th century. The 126 kilometres (78 mi) long Westfriese Omringdijk was completed by 1250, and was formed by connecting existing older dikes. The Roman chronicler Tacitus even mentions that the rebellious Batavi pierced dikes to flood their land and to protect their retreat (AD 70). The word dijk originally indicated both the trench and the bank. It is closely related to the English verb to dig.

Dyke (slang)
The term dyke or dike is a slang noun meaning lesbian; it is also a slang adjective describing things associated with lesbianism. It originated as a derogatory label for a masculine, tomboyish, or butch woman; while this usage still exists, the term dyke has been reappropriated to an extent as a demeaning word implying assertiveness and toughness, or simply as a neutral synonym for lesbian.
The term dyke is derived from the idea of traditional gender roles and heterosexism with the idea that women are feminine and attracted to men, and men are masculine and attracted to women implying that an inversion or mixture of the two is abnormal. The use of the term dyke as a derogatory label is a form of othering which can be defined as "a process that identifies those that are thought to be different from oneself or the mainstream, and it can reinforce and reproduce positions of domination and subordination." Although the term dyke can be literally translated to mean lesbian and many lesbians have reclaimed the word in order to remove the negative stigma associated with lesbians, it is still seen as derogatory when directed to another.

For those who started watching WandaVision and were VERY confused by what was happening… don’t worry, we were all there with you! In today’s video, we’ll be clearing up any confusion and going through all the homages and easter eggs the show has to famous sitcoms from throughout the decades!
We have LOVED watching Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bethany perform in the style of so many recognizable shows that made TV history what it is today. From performances to sets - the WandaVision team when all out to bring out the best of TV history in the new Marvel hit. The series started off with tributes to some of the earliest tv shows, like “I Love Lucy” and “I Dream of Jeannie”. The 70’s brought all kinds of laughs and quirks with shows like “The Brady Bunch,” which gets a lot of direct nods in WandaVision.
Then when it was time to visit the 80’s, the show brought in some of Elizabeth Olsen’s personal history with reference to the hit series “Full House” - one of the very first shows she ever appeared in!
The show swung into the 90’s and gave the kids lots of fun tropes to work with, reminiscent of those used in Malcolm in the Middle. Once we arrived in the present day, the references didn’t stop and we found ourselves humming along with the theme song the same way we hum along with the one for the show “The Office.” How many references did you catch?

Dick Cavett has been nominated for eleven Emmy awards (the most recent in 2012 for the HBO special, Mel Brooks and Dick Cavett Together Again), and won three. Spanning five decades, Dick Cavett’s television career has defined excellence in the interview format. He started at ABC in 1968, and also enjoyed success on PBS, USA, and CNBC.
His most recent television successes were the September 2014 PBS special, Dick Cavett’s Watergate, followed April 2015 by Dick Cavett’s Vietnam. He has appeared in movies, tv specials, tv commercials, and several Broadway plays. He starred in an off-Broadway production ofHellman v. McCarthy in 2014 and reprised the role at Theatre 40 in LA February 2015.
Cavett has published four books beginning with Cavett (1974) and Eye on Cavett (1983), co-authored with Christopher Porterfield. He’s slowed down slightly in recent years — nagging arthritis and a gait abnormality known as drop foot force him to think before he skips — but compared with most everyone else, Van Dyke remains a step ahead. At home on this morning, he and his second wife, Arlene, 49, have already moved through sit-ups, stretches and the stationary bike. Bathed in the Malibu sun, Van Dyke talks about a career that’s stretched from the Truman administration and the sitcom revolution of the 1960s to his reinvention as a mustachioed, homicide-investigating doctor before coming full circle with that shiver-inducing leap onto a desk in the 2018 “Mary Poppins” sequel. And Van Dyke can’t get far without praising his late friend Carl Reiner, the man who hired him in 1961 to put on that crisp suit so he could report to work as television writer Rob Petrie in “The Dick Van Dyke Show.”“I got the best damn comedy writing in the world,” he says. “And then Walt called me about ‘Mary Poppins.’ ”There are many who would say Van Dyke’s upcoming Kennedy Center honor is long overdue. Not the recipient. He will often describe his success as a product of coincidence and chance. He even titled his 2012 memoir “My Lucky Life In and Out of Show Business.” So Van Dyke remains awed by the honor.“I’m trying to piece that together,” he says. “How in the hell did I get to where I am? How did I get to a Kennedy award? You know, I never trained or did anything. I just enjoyed myself.”Just enjoyed myself. That’s the Van Dyke mantra. The notion that simply by laughing, singing or falling over an ottoman — his trademark move in the original “Dick Van Dyke Show” opening — the energy can pass through any screen, big or small, to generate a smile.“He makes people happy,” says Chita Rivera, a friend since they co-starred on Broadway in “Bye Bye Birdie” in 1960. “His job in this life is to make a happier world.”“He sets off endorphins,” says comedian Jim Carrey, who started watching Van Dyke as a boy in Canada and has incorporated some of his physical bits into his work. “If you can live a life and your name sets off endorphins, and people feel generally better when they hear your name than they did before they hear your name, that’s amazing.”There was no plan. For those who started watching WandaVision and were VERY confused by what was happening… don’t worry, we were all there with you! In today’s video, we’ll be clearing up any confusion and going through all the homages and easter eggs the show has to famous sitcoms from throughout the decades!
We have LOVED watching Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bethany perform in the style of so many recognizable shows that made TV history what it is today. From performances to sets - the WandaVision team when all out to bring out the best of TV history in the new Marvel hit. The series started off with tributes to some of the earliest tv shows, like “I Love Lucy” and “I Dream of Jeannie”. The 70’s brought all kinds of laughs and quirks with shows like “The Brady Bunch,” which gets a lot of direct nods in WandaVision.
Then when it was time to visit the 80’s, the show brought in some of Elizabeth Olsen’s personal history with reference to the hit series “Full House” - one of the very first shows she ever appeared in!
The show swung into the 90’s and gave the kids lots of fun tropes to work with, reminiscent of those used in Malcolm in the Middle. Once we arrived in the present day, the references didn’t stop and we found ourselves humming along with the theme song the same way we hum along with the one for the show “The Office.” How many references did you catch?

Dick Cavett has been nominated for eleven Emmy awards (the most recent in 2012 for the HBO special, Mel Brooks and Dick Cavett Together Again), and won three. Spanning five decades, Dick Cavett’s television career has defined excellence in the interview format. He started at ABC in 1968, and also enjoyed success on PBS, USA, and CNBC.
His most recent television successes were the September 2014 PBS special, Dick Cavett’s Watergate, followed April 2015 by Dick Cavett’s Vietnam. He has appeared in movies, tv specials, tv commercials, and several Broadway plays. He starred in an off-Broadway production ofHellman v. McCarthy in 2014 and reprised the role at Theatre 40 in LA February 2015.
Cavett has published four books beginning with Cavett (1974) and Eye on Cavett (1983), co-authored with Christopher Porterfield. His two recent books -- Talk Show: Confrontations, Pointed Commentary, and Off-Screen Secrets (2010) and Brief Encounters: Conversations, Magic moments, and Assorted Hijinks(October 2014) are both collections of his online opinion column, written for The New York Times since 2007. Additionally, he has written for The New Yorker, TV Guide, Vanity Fair, and elsewhere.

“Oh, God, I knew I liked it, but I didn’t know how much I would miss it,” he says of performing. “I really miss getting up in front of an audience.”The legendary star of one of television’s most revolutionary shows is 95. He’s slowed down slightly in recent years — nagging arthritis and a gait abnormality known as drop foot force him to think before he skips — but compared with most everyone else, Van Dyke remains a step ahead. At home on this morning, he and his second wife, Arlene, 49, have already moved through sit-ups, stretches and the stationary bike. Bathed in the Malibu sun, Van Dyke talks about a career that’s stretched from the Truman administration and the sitcom revolution of the 1960s to his reinvention as a mustachioed, homicide-investigating doctor before coming full circle with that shiver-inducing leap onto a desk in the 2018 “Mary Poppins” sequel. And Van Dyke can’t get far without praising his late friend Carl Reiner, the man who hired him in 1961 to put on that crisp suit so he could report to work as television writer Rob Petrie in “The Dick Van Dyke Show.”“I got the best damn comedy writing in the world,” he says. “And then Walt called me about ‘Mary Poppins.’ ”There are many who would say Van Dyke’s upcoming Kennedy Center honor is long overdue. Not the recipient. He will often describe his success as a product of coincidence and chance. He even titled his 2012 memoir “My Lucky Life In and Out of Show Business.” So Van Dyke remains awed by the honor.“I’m trying to piece that together,” he says. “How in the hell did I get to where I am? How did I get to a Kennedy award? You know, I never trained or did anything. I just enjoyed myself.”Just enjoyed myself. That’s the Van Dyke mantra. The notion that simply by laughing, singing or falling over an ottoman — his trademark move in the original “Dick Van Dyke Show” opening — the energy can pass through any screen, big or small, to generate a smile.“He makes people happy,” says Chita Rivera, a friend since they co-starred on Broadway in “Bye Bye Birdie” in 1960. “His job in this life is to make a happier world.”“He sets off endorphins,” says comedian Jim Carrey, who started watching Van Dyke as a boy in Canada and has incorporated some of his physical bits into his work. “If you can live a life and your name sets off endorphins, and people feel generally better when they hear your name than they did before they hear your name, that’s amazing.”There was no plan. There was no backup plan. There was only a poor kid from Illinois who never took a dance lesson, dropped out of high school and, after a decade of bouncing between radio and television gigs, had the good fortune of being handed scripts that were so sharp a club sandwich could have delivered the punchlines. Except that last part is a lie. Words on a page don’t come to life on their own. Reiner called Van Dyke the “most gifted performer I ever worked with” for a reason.

Van
A van is a kind of vehicle used for transporting goods or people. Depending on the type of van it can be bigger or smaller than a truck and SUV, and bigger than an automobile. There is some varying in the scope of the word across the different English-speaking countries. The smallest vans, minivans, are commonly used for transporting people from a family. Larger vans with passenger seats are used for institutional purposes, such as transporting students. Larger vans with only front seats are often used for business purposes, to carry goods and equipment. Specially-equipped vans are used by television stations as mobile studios. Postal services and courier companies use large step vans to deliver packages.
Word origin and usage
Van meaning a type of vehicle arose as a contraction of the word caravan. The early records of van as a vehicle in English are in the mid 19th century meaning a covered wagon for transporting goods (earliest reported record 1829). Caravan with the same meaning has records since the 1670s. A caravan, meaning one wagon, had arisen as an extension or corruption of caravan meaning a convoy of multiple wagons.
