Leslie Claire Margaret Caron (French: [lɛsli kaʁɔ̃]; born 1 July 1931) is a Franco-American film actress and dancer who appeared in 45 films between 1951 and 2003. Her autobiography, Thank Heaven, was published in 2010 in the UK and US, and in 2011 in a French version.
Caron is best known for the musical films An American in Paris (1951), Lili (1953), Daddy Long Legs (1955), Gigi (1958), and for the nonmusical films Fanny (1961), The L-Shaped Room (1962), and Father Goose (1964). She received two Academy Award nominations for Best Actress. In 2006, her performance in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit won her an Emmy for guest actress in a drama series. She speaks French, English, and Italian. She is one of the few dancers or actresses who have danced with Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, Mikhail Baryshnikov and Rudolf Nureyev.
Caron was born in Boulogne-sur-Seine, Seine (now Boulogne-Billancourt, Hauts-de-Seine), the daughter of Margaret (née Petit), a Franco American dancer on Broadway, and Claude Caron, a French chemist, pharmacist, perfumer and boutique owner. While her older brother Aimery Caron became a chemist like their father, Caron was prepared for a performing career from childhood by their mother.

An ingénue plucked for stardom in the 1951 classic, "An American in Paris," French actress Leslie Caron was adamant that she not look like the typically-coiffed Hollywood starlets of the day. In this web extra, she tells correspondent Jane Pauley about how she took matters (and a pair of scissors) into her own hands.
Here is Leslie Caron's track synched to the released film (in which she was dubbed by Betty Wand). This track fit perfectly for the first chorus but nothing else. It required more futzing than any other clip I've done, and here's the reason: From Hugh Fordin's book "M-G-M's Greatest Musicals" Lerner complained abourt Caron's rendition of "Parisians." The comment was "Too fast." Arthur Freed turned to [vocal director] Nena Simone, "Try to slow it down somewhat." And to Lerner, "She'll do it." Simone addressed Andre Previn. "For once, it's yours! You slow it down!" The following week began with Caron lip-synching to Betty Wand in a slower version of "The Parisians." Then came a pickup shot of her sitting on a Victorian bench in a park on Lot 2. Three days later the retakes were finished. ...

Cary Grant was the very essence of a movie star – a man every woman loved and every man wanted to be. His deft comic style merged easily with his strength as a romantic leading man. The actor’s suave exterior, however, concealed a complex and often sensitive individual. Cary’s painful journey from his lonely working-class beginnings to the peak of Hollywood royalty is made vivid through family photos, archival footage, clips from many of his films — including his first, following his discovery by blonde bombshell Mae West, starring role in She Done Him Wrong. Other movies include His Girl Friday, Notorious, An Affair To Remember, To Catch A Thief, North By Northwest, Charade, and more. Among friends and colleagues interviewed on-screen are Leslie Caron, Douglas Fairbanks, Jr, Deborah Ker...

In an interview with Leslie Caron she said that her favorite dance routine from her classic motion picture, "An American In Paris," was the can-can. As for her sexy scene with a chair, Caron says that censorship was different back then and everything was much too sexy. She even said that the part had to be remade because it was TOO sexy at first. Caron claims it was good luck that got her spotted on the stage by Gene Kelly and that the important thing about good luck is to make good use of it. http://www.cbsnews.com/videos/leslie-carons-charmed-life-on-screen-2/ http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Entertainment using http://wochit.com

On every tree there sits a bird
Singing a song of love
On every tree there sits a bird
And every one I ever heard
Could break my heart
Without a word
Singing a song of love
A song of love is a sad song
Hi-li Hi-lili Hi-lo
A song of love is a song of woe
Don't ask me how I know
A song of love is a sad song
For I have loved and it's so
Hi-lili Hi-lili Hi-lo Hi-lo
Hi-lili Hi-lili Hi-lo
Hi-lili Hi-lili Hi-lo Hi-lo
Hi-lili Hi-lili....Hi-lo
A tear for him, a tear for me
A tear for the love he swore
A tear for him and one for me
And one for under the tree
And one for wherever my love may be
And then I shall weep no more
A song of love is a sad song
Hi-lili Hi-lili Hi-lo
A song of love is a song of woe
Don't ask me how I know
A song of love is a sad song
For I have loved and it's so
Hi-lili Hi-lili Hi-lo Hi-lo
Hi-lili Hi-lili Hi-lo
