Oakland Athletics
The Oakland Athletics (often abbreviated to Oakland A′s) are an American professional baseball team based in Oakland, California. The Athletics are a member club of the West division of the American League (AL) in Major League Baseball (MLB). The club plays its home games at O.co Coliseum. The club has won nine World Series championships, the third most of all current Major League Baseball teams.
One of the American League's eight charter franchises, the club was founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1901 as the Philadelphia Athletics. They won three World Series championships from 1910 to 1913 and two in a row in 1929 and 1930. The team's owner and manager for its first 50 years was Connie Mack and Hall of Fame players included Chief Bender, Frank "Home Run" Baker, Jimmie Foxx, and Lefty Grove. The team left Philadelphia for Kansas City in 1955 and became the Kansas City Athletics before moving to Oakland in 1968. They won three World Championships in a row from 1972 to 1974, led by players including Catfish Hunter, Reggie Jackson, ace reliever Rollie Fingers, and colorful owner Charlie O. Finley. After being sold by Finley to Walter A. Haas, Jr., the team won three consecutive pennants and the 1989 World Series behind the "Bash Brothers", Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire, as well as Hall of Famers Dennis Eckersley and Rickey Henderson.

Abraham & Straus
Abraham & Straus, commonly shortened to A&S, was a major New York City department store, based in Brooklyn. Founded in 1865, it became part of Federated Department Stores in 1929. Shortly after Federated's 1994 acquisition of R.H. Macy & Company, it eliminated the A&S brand. Most A&S stores took the Macy's name, although a few became part of Stern's, another Federated division, but one that offered lower-end goods than did Macy's or A&S.

That's right old Foolish Baseball, creator of the MLB video essay series Baseball Bits, will be conducting interviews in this one. Funny hat and all. Who knows? Maybe there will even be a surprise cameo from Jake Mintz and Jordan Schusterman of the Cespedes Family BBQ.
There will also be a brief discussion of the Oakland A's relocation rumors. Are the Las Vegas A's viable? I'm not so sure. Personally, I'll side with the fans who organized the reverse boycott game rather than John Fisher. Finally, I promise I won't say Moneyball in this one. WAIT A SEC-

Abraham & Straus Closing (1987)
Commercial for the Store Closing Sale of Abraham & Straus (A&S;) store, a defunct NYC-based department store. They were owned by Federated (Macy's), but all of them bit the dust by 1995 (many were converted to the Stern's, or Macy's banners). Around 1981/1982, Federated opened A&S; in the Willow Grove Park Mall (brand new at the time) and Court of King of Prussia. They did not last long due to competition from other department stores, and locations were taken over by Strawbridge & Clothier by 1988.

The Oakland A's. What a franchise! Not sure if you've heard, but these guys like to win on a budget. They have their competitive windows, and then they trade everyone and start over. Because of this, it's easy to forget how good the good times are during the bad. One good time was the case of the 2012 Oakland Athletics, a rookie superteam featuring the likes of rookie Yoenis Cespedes, Josh Donaldson, Jarrod Parker, and Ryan Cook. Funnily enough, none of them won 2012 Rookie of the Year.
I'll also talk to a couple rookie players on the team, specifically Sean Doolittle and Travis Blackley. That's right old Foolish Baseball, creator of the MLB video essay series Baseball Bits, will be conducting interviews in this one. Funny hat and all. Who knows? Maybe there will even be a surprise cameo from Jake Mintz and Jordan Schusterman of the Cespedes Family BBQ.
There will also be a brief discussion of the Oakland A's relocation rumors. Are the Las Vegas A's viable? I'm not so sure. Personally, I'll side with the fans who organized the reverse boycott game rather than John Fisher. Finally, I promise I won't say Moneyball in this one. WAIT A SEC-

Oakland Athletics
The Oakland Athletics (often abbreviated to Oakland A′s) are an American professional baseball team based in Oakland, California. The Athletics are a member club of the West division of the American League (AL) in Major League Baseball (MLB). The club plays its home games at O.co Coliseum. The club has won nine World Series championships, the third most of all current Major League Baseball teams.
One of the American League's eight charter franchises, the club was founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1901 as the Philadelphia Athletics. They won three World Series championships from 1910 to 1913 and two in a row in 1929 and 1930. The team's owner and manager for its first 50 years was Connie Mack and Hall of Fame players included Chief Bender, Frank "Home Run" Baker, Jimmie Foxx, and Lefty Grove. The team left Philadelphia for Kansas City in 1955 and became the Kansas City Athletics before moving to Oakland in 1968. They won three World Championships in a row from 1972 to 1974, led by players including Catfish Hunter, Reggie Jackson, ace reliever Rollie Fingers, and colorful owner Charlie O. Finley. After being sold by Finley to Walter A. Haas, Jr., the team won three consecutive pennants and the 1989 World Series behind the "Bash Brothers", Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire, as well as Hall of Famers Dennis Eckersley and Rickey Henderson.

They were owned by Federated (Macy's), but all of them bit the dust by 1995 (many were converted to the Stern's, or Macy's banners). Around 1981/1982, Federated opened A&S; in the Willow Grove Park Mall (brand new at the time) and Court of King of Prussia. They did not last long due to competition from other department stores, and locations were taken over by Strawbridge & Clothier by 1988.
