Ringo discusses his latest book with famed interviewer Tavis Smiley in Los Angeles on public broadcast December 2015. "Photograph" contains many pictures Ringo took with his camera while a member of The Beatles.
Ringo Starr returns on tour summer 2016 with his longest-tenured All-Starr Band lineup. The new tour begins on June 3 in Syracuse, N.Y., and continues through July 2 at the Greek in Los Angeles. Starr will be joined again by Todd Rundgren, Gregg Rolie, Steve Lukather and Richard Page. All of them participated on Starr’s most recent solo album, 2015’s Postcards From Paradise. “I love this band,” he told The Boston Globe. “We have a lot of fun together on and offstage, so here we come again.” This is Starr’s 12th All-Starr band in a tradition that goes back to 1989. On Twitter March 8, 2016, Ringo Starr reported the death of The Beatles producer and arranger George Martin. "God bless George Martin," Ringo wrote late Tuesday night. "Peace and love to Judy and his family, love Ringo and Barbara. George will be missed." In another post, accompanied by a photo of Martin with the Beatles, Starr wrote, "Thank you for all your love and kindness."
George Martin chose not to promote one of The Beatles as the frontman. He suggested they replace Pete Best with studio drummer Starr and allowed them to record their own material. Their first single, “Love Me Do,” peaked at No. 17 on the British charts.
For The Beatles’ first U.S. single, “Please Please Me” in November 1962, George Martin convinced The Beatles to speed up the tempo. It proved to be a smash hit. “Gentlemen, you have just made your first No. 1 record,” he memorably told them from the control room.

Richard Starkey, MBE (born 7 July 1940), better known by his stage name Ringo Starr, is an English musician and actor who gained worldwide fame as the drummer for the Beatles. When the band formed in 1960, Starr was a member of another Liverpool band, Rory Storm and the Hurricanes. He joined the Beatles in August 1962, taking the place of Pete Best. In addition to his drumming, Starr is featured on lead vocals on a number of successful Beatles songs (in particular, "With a Little Help from My Friends", "Yellow Submarine", and the Beatles version of "Act Naturally"). He is credited as a co-writer of the songs "What Goes On" and "Flying", and as the writer of "Don't Pass Me By" and "Octopus's Garden".
As drummer for the Beatles, Starr was musically creative, and his contribution to the band's music has received high praise from notable drummers in more recent times. Starr described himself as "your basic offbeat drummer with funny fills". Drummer Steve Smith said that Starr's popularity "brought forth a new paradigm" where "we started to see the drummer as an equal participant in the compositional aspect" and that Starr "composed unique, stylistic drum parts for The Beatles songs". In 2011, Starr was picked as the fifth-best drummer of all-time by Rolling Stone readers.

The world's most famous drummer talks about his history and experiences with The Beatles starting with the group's early sixties beginnings in Liverpool, England. Ringo discusses his latest book with famed interviewer Tavis Smiley in Los Angeles on public broadcast December 2015. "Photograph" contains many pictures Ringo took with his camera while a member of The Beatles.
Ringo Starr returns on tour summer 2016 with his longest-tenured All-Starr Band lineup. The new tour begins on June 3 in Syracuse, N.Y., and continues through July 2 at the Greek in Los Angeles. Starr will be joined again by Todd Rundgren, Gregg Rolie, Steve Lukather and Richard Page. All of them participated on Starr’s most recent solo album, 2015’s Postcards From Paradise. “I love this band,” he told The Boston Globe. “We have a lot of fun together on and offstage, so here we come again.” This is Starr’s 12th All-Starr band in a tradition that goes back to 1989. On Twitter March 8, 2016, Ringo Starr reported the death of The Beatles producer and arranger George Martin. "God bless George Martin," Ringo wrote late Tuesday night. "Peace and love to Judy and his family, love Ringo and Barbara. George will be missed." In another post, accompanied by a photo of Martin with the Beatles, Starr wrote, "Thank you for all your love and kindness."
George Martin chose not to promote one of The Beatles as the frontman. He suggested they replace Pete Best with studio drummer Starr and allowed them to record their own material. Their first single, “Love Me Do,” peaked at No. 17 on the British charts.
For The Beatles’ first U.S. single, “Please Please Me” in November 1962, George Martin convinced The Beatles to speed up the tempo. It proved to be a smash hit. “Gentlemen, you have just made your first No. 1 record,” he memorably told them from the control room.

Former Beatles drummer made a special encore guest appearance, playing drums with Joe Walsh and his band on the 1973 classic rock hit Rocky Mountain Way at The Forum, Inglewood, CA May 20, 2016. Joe Walsh and Ringo Starr both participated on the 2014 GRAMMY Awards in Los Angeles , the last show they appeared together on. The song Rocky Mountain Way was originally released on the Joe Walsh album The Smoker You Drink, the Player You Get. Joe Walsh concert ends with finale All Night Long. Included on the 1980 movie soundtrack album Urban Cowboy, All Night Long was a Top 20 hit for Joe Walsh and one of his highest charting singles.

Several tracks were left off the album. A Paul McCartney song entitled "Angel in Disguise", to which Ringo added a verse, has not seen the light of day.[4] Ringo covered the Elvis Presley hit "Don't Be Cruel" which was instead issued as the B-side of the "Weight Of The World" CD single (except in Japan). Another outtake, "Everyone Wins", was issued in Germany as the vinyl B-side of the "Don't Go Where The Road Don't Go" single. Two more outtakes that never saw the light of day (to date) were a Phil Picket song "Love Is Going To Get You", produced by Phil Ramone, and the Jeff Lynne produced "Call Me". Lynne told journalist Peter Palmiere as part of a DISCoveries cover story on Ringo that "Call Me" will never be released at anytime anywhere.[citation needed] Although Starr recorded and released a song on Goodnight Vienna entitled "Call Me", it bears no resemblance to the Jeff Lynne-produced number.
Well-received upon release, many critics considered Time Takes Time Starr's best album since 1973's "Ringo". Rolling Stone magazine wrote, "The drummer's most consistent, wide-awake album since Ringo, from 1973". The release was met with some indifference by the public however, and thus failed to chart. However, lead single "Weight Of The World" managed to reach #74 in the UK, giving Starr his first single entry there since "Only You (And You Alone)" in 1974.
Time Takes Time has sold about 70,000 copies in America since its release although Private Music before they folded claimed[specify] sales figures a little over 200,000 in the US. Times Takes Time was the last Ringo Starr album on vinyl until Y Not, though only in Mexico, Brazil, Spain and Germany.
Despite an All-Starr tour in 1992 to promote the album, Time Takes Time would be Ringo Starr's only album with Private Music before he was dropped from their roster. It was also deleted a few years after its release.
