The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, commonly known as the United Kingdom (UK) or Britain, is a sovereign state in the European Union. Lying off the north-western coast of the European mainland, it includes the island of "Great Britain" (a term also applied loosely to refer to the whole country), the north-eastern part of the island of Ireland and many smaller islands.Northern Ireland is the only part of the UK that shares a land border with another state—the Republic of Ireland. Apart from this land border, the UK is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, with the North Sea to its east, the English Channel to its south and the Celtic Sea to its south-southwest. The Irish Sea lies between Great Britain and Ireland. With an area of 93,800 square miles (243,000 km2), the UK is the 80th-largest sovereign state in the world and the 11th-largest in Europe. It is also is the 21st-most populous country, with an estimated 64.5 million inhabitants.
The United Kingdom is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary system of governance. Its capital city is London, an important global city and financial centre with an urban population of 10,310,000, the fourth-largest in Europe and second-largest in the European Union. The current monarch—since 6 February 1952—is Queen Elizabeth II. The UK consists of four countries: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The latter three have devolved administrations, each with varying powers, based in their capitals, Edinburgh, Cardiff, and Belfast, respectively. The nearby Isle of Man, Bailiwick of Guernsey and Bailiwick of Jersey are not part of the United Kingdom, being Crown dependencies with the British Government responsible for defence and international representation.

The UK Independence Party (UKIP) is on the verge of having its first MP in parliament. Claiming that traditional political clans which have dominated British politics for generations have had their day, the party wants Britain to pull out of the EU and stricter controls on immigration. A by-election for Clacton-on-Sea in eastern England, to be held on Thursday, was caused by the defection of an MP from Prime Minister David Cameron's Conservative Party to UKIP. Al Jazeera's Laurence Lee reports from Clacton-on-Sea.

This racist outburst on a tram in the UK is going viral. The perputrators were 16, 18 and 20 years old and were arrested by Manchester Police. Video footage shows the three youths - who appear to be drinking from beer bottles - shouting at the man to “Get back to Africa” as the tram travelled from Shudehill to Market Street at 7.40am Tuesday morning. Moments earlier the man, who spoke with a foreign accent, had asked the youngsters to stop swearing because they were frightening women and young children on the tram. But the teenagers responded by unleashing horrific abuse on the man. On the recording the youngsters can be heard shouting “F*****g get off the tram now” and “Don’t chat s**t or get deported”. The man responds by saying “How old are you 18 or 19? I have been here longer than...

UKIP donor Arron Banks tells Sky's Sophy Ridge that Nigel Farage was "too soft" on dissenters and he thinks Diane James will be more "steely"
Diane James has been elected as the new leader of the UK Independence Party. Ms James had been regarded as the favourite to succeed Nigel Farage, who quit as leader following the UK's vote to leave the EU. The MEP for South East England won with 8,451 votes. Her nearest rival, Lisa Duffy, received 4,591. Speaking about Brexit, Ms James warned "we have only just won a heat" in a "28-member state Olympic competition to leave the European Union". An Audience with Nigel Farage at United Kingdom Independence Party UKIP) North West Rally, Liverpool. Sorry about the poor video quality.
Jack Sen was a United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) prospective Member of Parliament for northern England before being unceremoniously, and quite publicly, suspended by his party one week prior to the General Election for attempting to broach the subjects of indigenous displacement in Britain, and raising the issue of the genocide waged against the Boer people in South Africa. Jack begins with a bit of history on how he became attracted to UKIP in the first place, and explains the series of events leading up to his suspension. He details the election process and distinguishes the challenges that are faced by a party that is fundamentally very anti-European Union, relating that the fear of an economic crash is driving many people to continue to vote for inclusion within the EU. We discu...

Stewart Lee posted this recording on his website in July this year with this note: "In early 2015 I had a long routine about a cat named after UKIP politicians, but I had to drop it over the Summer of 2015, and re-write it to be about Jeremy Corbyn. So utterly had UKIP dropped from public consciousness that no-one was even interested enough in them to laugh at them." Recorded live at the Oxford Playhouse as part of the ‘A Room With A Stew‘ tour on the 29th & 30th March 2015. Recorded & Mixed by James Hingley.
Former UK Independence Party (UKIP) leader Nigel Farage, who resigned from his position in July 2016, is scheduled to speak at the party’s autumn conference where party members will select their new leader, in Bournemouth on Friday, September 16.
There's a gang I've just joined
There's a gang I've just joined
Three million strong you'd agree
Four million strong you'd agree
Enrollment was easy, so easy
Getting out proves to be the difficulty
From land's end to john o'groats
From land's end to john o'groats
They are making ends meet
Mending holes in their coat
Fasting and feasting on bread and margarine
Burning dreams build upon buried hopes
United kingdom - you'd better ring them
You've a solution - you better bring them
United kingdom - united kingdom
You've a solution - you better bring them
Opportunity, I guess they all came and went
Finding it hard
Finding the rent you'll find it funny
With your finger running down
Situations vacant
In school he was an athlete
Now he's not so self-assured
"after all of these o-levels is this my reward? "
There's a silent majority, that's seen and
Never heard from charles i, charles ii
To charles iii
United kingdom - you'd better ring them
You've a solution - you better bring them
United kingdom - united kingdom
This busted, rusted, upper-crusted
Bankrupted done and dusted
No-man-to-be-trusted united kingdom
Proud to stand beneath the union jack?
Happy dealing up a no ace pack?
Polishing black boots
Priming the riot squad
There go I but for the grace of god
Covering up the agony with mindless entertainment
You'll be happy when they're ripping up the pavement
Bringing down the axe on steelworks and foundries
Someone said love knows no boundaries
Close your eyes and think of england
Lie back and think of her
United kingdom - you better ring them
