Steve Landesberg (November 23, 1936 – December 20, 2010) was an American actor, comedian, and voice actor known for his role as the erudite, unflappable police detective Arthur P. Dietrich on the ABC sitcom Barney Miller, for which he was nominated for three Emmy Awards.
Landesberg was born November 23, 1936, in the Bronx, New York, to a milliner mother and a grocery store-owner father. He was part of improv group New York Stickball Team, which performed several shows that were aired on cable television shortly after Barney Miller went off the air.
Landesberg was a member of the cast of the 1974 CBS situation comedy Paul Sand in Friends and Lovers. He made guest appearances on the TV shows The Rockford Files, Law & Order, Saturday Night Live, The Golden Girls, Ghost Whisperer, That 70's Show and Everybody Hates Chris. He starred in Starz's original show Head Case as Dr. Myron Finkelstein. He appeared in the motion pictures Wild Hogs, Leader of the Band, and Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
Barney Miller is an American sitcom set in a New York City Police Department police station in Greenwich Village. The series originally was broadcast from January 23, 1975, to May 20, 1982, on ABC. It was created by Danny Arnold and Theodore J. Flicker. Noam Pitlik directed the majority of the episodes.
Barney Miller takes place almost entirely within the confines of the detectives' squad room and Captain Barney Miller's adjoining office of New York City's fictional 12th Precinct, located in Greenwich Village. A typical episode would feature the detectives of the 12th bringing in several complainants and/or suspects to the squad room. Usually, two or three separate subplots are in a given episode, with different officers dealing with different crimes. Once a year, an episode would feature one or more of the detectives outside of the walls of the precinct, either on a stakeout or at one of their homes.

In what some may call a deliberate sequence of predictive programming, there is a little-remembered scene in the show Barney Miller, where an arrested man is trying to warn people of the true nature of the Trilateral Commission – founded in 1973 by David Rockefeller. http://www.activistpost.com/2015/03/barney-miller-nwo-and-trilateral.html

Again, thank you Richard McQuillan for the lost clip of Dodd making his phone calls and trying to reach Abbie Hoffman. This episode had some controversy: http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=q_dLAAAAIBAJ&sjid;=Du4DAAAAIBAJ&pg;=6935%2C4700925 It is also mentioned in Paul Krassner's memoir "Confessions of an Unconfined Raving Nut" http://timebomberbook.blogspot.com/2013/07/book-chapter-thomas-roy-gifford.html While researching a 1970s bank bomber, this episode came to mind. Barney Miller is one of the few shows I've seen where it used different versions of the opening theme before sticking with one. This video shows how the theme progressed from the 1st season to the 4th.
Fish is a spin-off television series of the sitcom Barney Miller. It starred Abe Vigoda as New York Police Department Detective Phil Fish and Florence Stanley as his wife Bernice. The series Fish focused on the domestic side of his life. Fish and Bernice became foster parents to five racially-mixed children known as "Persons in Need of Supervision", or PINS. The kids were played by Todd Bridges, Denise Miller, Len Bari, John Cassisi, and Sarah Natoli. Barry Gordon played a college student majoring in child psychology.

From Season 4, episode 2, this is Abe Vigoda's final appearance as Fish as a regular cast member on Barney Miller. In this memorable scene, Barney has to force Fish to deal with the fact that today is his last on the force.

"Barney Miller" (1975-1982) was a comedy set in New York's 12 Precinct in Greenwich Village. "Barney Miller" revolved around the day to day lives of Cpt. Miller and his multi-ethnic group of detectives.
Part 1 in a lesson on this cool, old, 70's T.V. show theme song bassline, originally performed by Jim Hughart.
I don't know what may me want to learn this. I saw that Abe Vigoda died and i came across this song, and it was such an amazing solo i just wanted to learn it. I love how when you hear it without the music you can still hear the changes, thats pretty damn cool.

Johnny Carson-Muhammad Ali Interview-Full episode.
From 1987 to 1988 Steve Allen hosted a daily 3 hour show on the NBC Radio Network. His co-host was Mark Simone and Herb Sargent located at WNEW in New York. They were often joined by Bob Einstein who would stop by Steve's office or call via phone. I happened to catch the show one afternoon on a satellite downlink. I was hooked immediately. I recorded portions of the last few shows. Most of the time Steve would be in his Van Nuys California office fed via satellite to New York. I searched around the West Coast satellite feeds and found the Van Nuys office audio. For these YouTube videos I replaced the program breaks with the audio from the Van Nuys office for a little "behind the scenes peek". You will hear Steve ad-libbing through hours of radio with hysterical moments accompanied...

Here is a rarely seen little indie spec pilot called "Katie Sullivan." I wrote and produced this several years ago with my wife -- comedian Wendy Liebman -- and our dear friend, the incredible, lovely actress Larisa Oleynik (star of "The Secret World of Alex Mack", "Hawaii 5-0," "10 Things I Hate About You") . We made the whole thing on passion, favors, friendships and out of pocket. While we didn't sell the show and likely won't now, I still love so much about it and wanted to share it with you. So many wonderful, talented people worked on "Katie Sullivan." The amazing Jeff McCracken ("Boy Meets World") was our director and he line produced this with Morgan Sackett ("Parks & Recreation"). Sally Stiner and Barbie Block ("Good Luck Charlie") were our casting directors. Michael Goi ("...
