Rodney Bingenheimer (born December 15, 1947) is an American radio disc jockey on the long-runningLos Angeles rock station KROQ who is notable for helping numerous iconic bands become successful in the American market. His contribution to the music business has been described as important. He developed a reputation for being the first American D.J. to identify new artists and play "edgy new bands" such as Blondie, the Ramones, the Sex Pistols, Guns N' Roses, Duran Duran, The Cure, Joan Jett, Hole, Symbol Six, No Doubt, Blur, Nirvana,Sonic Youth, The Bangles, X and many others.
He managed a key but now-defunct L.A. nightclub called Rodney Bingenheimer's English Disco in the early seventies.
He was the subject of a documentary by late filmmaker George Hickenlooper titled Mayor of the Sunset Strip which told the story of a groupie-turned-kingmaker with a knack for making friends in the music industry. He was described as a "famous groupie, now respectable" by Mick Jagger and he has numerous high-profile friends. In 2007, he was honored with the 2,330th star on Hollywood Boulevard.
The Sunset Strip is the name given to the mile-and-a-half (2.4 km) stretch of Sunset Boulevard that passes through West Hollywood, California. It extends from West Hollywood's eastern border with Hollywood at Havenhurst Drive, to its western border with Beverly Hills at Sierra Drive. The Strip is probably the best-known portion of Sunset, embracing boutiques, restaurants, rock clubs, and nightclubs that are on the cutting edge of the entertainment industry. It is also known for its trademark array of huge, colorful billboards.
As the Strip lies outside of the Los Angeles city limits and was an unincorporated area under the jurisdiction of the County of Los Angeles, the area fell under the less-vigilant jurisdiction of the Sheriff's Department rather than the heavy hand of the LAPD. It was illegal to gamble in the city, but legal in the county. This fostered the building of a rather wilder concentration of nightlife than Los Angeles would tolerate, and in the 1920s a number of nightclubs and casinos moved in along the Strip, which attracted movie people to this less-restricted area; alcohol was served in back rooms during Prohibition.
The personal name Rodney originated as a toponym: Rodney Stoke in Somerset derived its name from an Anglo-Saxon name meaning "Hroda's island" (Hroda being a short form of an Anglo-Saxon name beginning with the element hrod- "fame"). "Rodney" became a surname in the 18th century, and a title of the peerage of Great Britain in 1782, as Baron Rodney. Secondarily, it came to be used as a given name, originally in honour of Admiral George Brydges Rodney, 1st Baron Rodney.
Los Angeles (i/lɒs ˈændʒəlᵻs/ loss AN-jə-ləs or loss AN-jə-liss) (Spanish for "The Angels"), officially the City of Los Angeles and often known by its initials L.A., is the second-largest city in the United States after New York City, the most populous city in the state of California, and the county seat of Los Angeles County.
Situated in Southern California, Los Angeles is known for its mediterranean climate, ethnic diversity, sprawling metropolis, and as a major center of the American entertainment industry. Los Angeles lies in a large coastal basin surrounded on three sides by mountains reaching up to and over 10,000 feet (3,000 m).
Historically home to the Chumash and Tongva, Los Angeles was claimed by Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo for Spain in 1542 along with the rest of what would become Alta California. The city was officially founded on September 4, 1781, by Spanish governor Felipe de Neve. It became a part of Mexico in 1821 following the Mexican War of Independence. In 1848, at the end of the Mexican–American War, Los Angeles and the rest of California were purchased as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, thereby becoming part of the United States. Los Angeles was incorporated as a municipality on April 4, 1850, five months before California achieved statehood. The city experienced rapid growth with the discovery of oil.
Atari Teenage Riot (abbreviated ATR) is a German digital hardcore group formed in Berlin in 1992. The name was taken from a Portuguese Joe song entitled "Teenage Riot" from the album "Teen-age Riot", with the word 'Atari' added as an Atari ST computer was used to create compositions. Highly political, they fused anarchist, anti-fascist and anti-Nazi views with punk vocals and the newly emerging techno sound called digital hardcore, which is a term band member Alec Empire used as the name of his record label.
The group was founded as an attack on the Neo-Nazi subculture by fusing hardcore punk views with German techno; it consisted of three Berliners—Alec Empire, Hanin Elias and MC Carl Crack. ATR's early releases (which included the track "Hetzjagd Auf Nazis!"/"Hunt Down the Nazis!") were surrounded by controversy in Germany.
After signing to major European label Phonogram Records in 1993, the band received a large financial advance which they duplicitously used to set up their own record label: Digital Hardcore Recordings (DHR). ATR never delivered a commercially viable demo to Phonogram.

She pitches the idea to a sleazy manager, Kim Fowley, who pairs her with a drummer and then searches for a face: he finds Cherie Currie, at 15 the perfect jailbait image for his purpose; by luck, she can sing. Two others round out the band, "The Runaways." Fowley books a tour, signs them to Mercury Records, and packs them off to crowds in Japan. Seeds of conflict sprout early: Fowley puts Cherie front and center in the publicity, she's soon strung out on pills and vodka, and jealousies arise. Without adult supervision, where can Joan and Cherie end up?

my hubby and i spent a couple months and just over 40 hours in-between full time jobs, lovingly shooting thousands of photos to create this stop motion film based on periods of our dating life. the 2000 days represents the roughly 5.5 years we dated before our wedding. one of our favorite movies is 500 days of summer so we knew we had to adapt our love story to this film! we had a blast researching and finding some of the exact scenes from the movie. we poured lots of love into this film and it means so much to us. enjoy =) we packaged our little dvd into a recycled invite case: http://www.maemaepaperie.com/custom/suites/malibu i have since started my own little photography business =) www.facebook.com/audreejeanphotography / www.audreejeanphotography.com fun info - watch the vid...

This is the time, and this is the record of the time...Legendary collaboration between two brutes of the fashion and art worlds. Joshua Petker's elaborate art had to be developed for garments using a highly sensitive gas-transfer print. Garments are covered in elaborate vistas and melting horizons. The Embroidery pattern was dubbed "Resurrection Fog." Thank you to all the many hands it took to realize this vision.

Germs interview on KROQ 11-30-1979 with Rodney Bingenheimer Darby Crash Pat Smear Lorna Doom Don Bolles
If you’re one of the millions of people who’ve heard Nirvana’s cover of the David Bowie classic “The Man Who Sold the World” from their Unplugged album, you already know that Dave Grohl and Pat Smear are devout Bowie fans. But did you know that Smear and his bandmates in the Germs used to stalk Bowie all over 1970s Los Angeles? Join us as Smear and Grohl drive around town (in a custom and, as Grohl says, “totally ‘90s” Ford Bronco) visiting Bowie’s L.A. homes, both personal and creative. Along the way the two bandmates reminisce, nerd out on Bowie trivia and even pick up a legendary passenger. (Also, they call Joan Jett.) We can’t imagine anyone we’d rather celebrate Bowie’s memory with than these guys. Enjoy. Special thanks to: Shirley Morales at ltd los angeles English Disco art exhibit...
This is a radio interview from 1978 when Joan was still in the Runaways. The rest of the band didn't show up some how. Rodney Bingenheimer is the other on talking.
