Matthew "Matt" Kiichi Heafy (born January 26, 1986) is a Japanese American musician, best known as the guitarist and lead vocalist for the American heavy metal band Trivium. Heafy is also the lead vocalist for the band Capharnaum, along with Trivium's former producer Jason Suecof.
Heafy was born in Iwakuni, Japan to an American father and a Japanese mother. His father is half-Irish and half-German. Although Heafy was born in Japan, he lived there for only one year. He does not speak Japanese fluently, however, he has mastered some of the basic phrases and uses them when it comes to performing in Japan. So he does with German as well. His family then moved to Orlando, Florida, where it currently resides. Heafy attended Lake Brantley High School. He completed his senior year while also touring in Europe, and graduated in 2004.
Heafy learned to play the saxophone in years leading up to becoming more serious on guitar at the age of twelve. At that period he was mostly listening to pop punk bands and even auditioned for a local one by playing Blink-182 song Dammit. He, however, was not accepted for the unspecified reason. He also cites being introduced to heavy metal by his classmate David who gave him a copy of Metallica's self-titled album.
Lester William Polsfuss (June 9, 1915 – August 12, 2009), known as Les Paul, was an American jazz, country, and blues guitarist, songwriter, luthier, and inventor. He was one of the pioneers of the solid-body electric guitar, which made the sound of rock and roll possible. Paul taught himself how to play guitar and while he is mainly known for rock music, he had an early career in country music. He is credited with many recording innovations. Although he was not the first to use the technique, his early experiments with overdubbing (also known as sound on sound),delay effects such as tape delay, phasing effects and multitrack recording were among the first to attract widespread attention.
His innovative talents extended into his playing style, including licks, trills, chording sequences, fretting techniques and timing, which set him apart from his contemporaries and inspired many guitarists of the present day. He recorded with his wife Mary Ford in the 1950s, and they sold millions of records.
The Gibson Les Paul Custom is a higher end variation of the Gibson Les Paul guitar. It was developed in 1953 after Gibson had introduced the Les Paul model in 1952.
The Gibson Les Paul was introduced in 1952, and was originally made with a mahogany body and a 1" thick maple cap, mahogany neck with rosewood fret board and two P-90 pickups. The guitar was only available in a gold finish. In late 1953, a more luxurious version was introduced, most probably on specific request by Les Paul himself, as he wanted a more luxurious and classy looking guitar. He requested a black guitar as he wanted it to "look like a tuxedo". Nicknamed the Black Beauty, the guitar had a mahogany body and neck, ebony fret board, and mother of pearl block markers inlays in the fret board. The "Split Diamond" inlay on the headstock was taken from the carved archtop Super 400, which was the top of the Gibson line. The pickups were a P-90 in the bridge position and an Alnico V pickup, newly designed by Seth Lover, in the neck position. The frets are low and flat, as opposed to the usual medium jumbo frets found on other Les Paul customs, and the guitar soon was given the nickname "The Fretless Wonder". The 1954 Les Paul Custom also saw the introduction of Gibson's new bridge, the ABR-1. The new Custom also shipped with a different case from the Standard, using a black and gold case instead of the brown and pink case that was the top-of-the-line case for the Les Paul Standard models. This was to be the case until the Custom was replaced and discontinued (though a similar black case was used with the LP/SG Custom models).

Matt Heafy is one of my favorite guitarists, song-writers, and riff-maestros, so I was psyched to finally get his signature Epiphone Les Paul Custom on the channel. In my opinion, this is probably the closest Epiphone you can get to a proper Gibson Les Paul Custom with EMGs! How To Scream ? Lesson from Matt Heafy (Trivium) - I started screaming when I was 12 years old; because Trivium needed a singer, and I couldn't sing. I would gradually add more singing over the years as it developed. 2 or so years ago, I blew my voice out. It was determined it was due to entirely incorrect screaming technique, and partially incorrect singing technique. Thanks to voixtek, I have the singing figured out, and the screaming is evolving every month. I'm happy that it's finally the same volume and intensity live. This video and audio is natural as it gets. No auto-tune, no fancy compression or distortion or tape delay or tape fx.

From their debut release Ember to Inferno way back in 2003, Trivium have been evolving and developing their musical sound. Never staying in one place in terms of classification and genre, their latest release Silence in the Snow has managed to continue in that vein. Well, time seems to pass quickly and 2016 now marks 13 years since that debut release. Record company, Cooking Vinyl, have marked the anniversary by repackaging that classic debut release along with the band’s early collection of demos. Lead singer, Matt Heafy, looked back on the band’s musical legacy to date, and gave me his views on the latest Metallica musical offerings. We also discussed all manner of subjects from cooking to collecting vinyl. Our illuminating chat touched on many aspects of the band’s early development rig...
So Dann finally got to sit down with Matt Heafy from Trivium, He has been waiting for this for 5 years, he's interviewed Corey and Paolo before but this is something else. This interview has been brewing for a long time, they talk the new album, Silence in the Snow, and the history of the band leading to its creation. This is quite clearly for the fan interview as Dann goes a little fanboy. Our respect for Trivium just increased as Matt is the loveliest guy, totally down to earth and more than happy to answer all of our questions. Find out why Matt likes 'The Voice', what advice he has for fledgling bands and what blowing your voice out really means. For more interviews and podcasts visit mikejamesrockshow.com

Got gooseflesh, got butterflies, got a temperature you
gonna feel em rise
I make a good man, like a bad son, like a daddy that
you call number one
I see this big heart like a big stain, makin your love
make me feel the lick
so when the clouds come, bad weather roam
aint a shame if I dont see the sun because
Who needs the sunshine when your here
Who needs the sunshine when your here
Who needs the sunshine when your here
When you carry the sunshine with you
Dont need no big train hor-cigary(???)
I got more than I need to complete the set
I make picturesque on the warm breast
Head how come I dont need no rest
But gimme medicine in the shape of your (?)
What kinda of fetish did I decide to cast you in
So when the storm break I'll leave the headache
To walk alone in the cloud for my own sake
Who needs the sunshine when your here
Who needs the sunshine when your here
Who needs the sunshine when your here
When you carry the sunshine all alone with you
