Prime Minister showers praises on Dr
Raman Singh in the massive public gathering
My respect for Dr Singh has enhanced after seeing his initiatives to provide free salt to tribal people, education city for naxal-affected children and Livelihood
College for youth, says Mr.
Narendra Modi
Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi said that development is possible only through
peace; there is no future of violence. Mr.
Modi urged Naxalites to lay arms and said that guns and bloodshed can never be solution to any problem. Even Naxalbadi the birth place of naxalism has now become a peaceful place. Prime Minister Mr. Modi was addressing a huge gathering at
Dantewada, when he expressed these thoughts.
Mr. Modi appreciated
Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh for running the schemes for welfare of tribal people in Bastar. He said that Dr. Singh has shown that development is the only way to solve the problem of naxalism
. In the benign presence of Prime Minister, two MoUs- one for
Ultra Mega Steel Plant and another for Dallirajhara- Raoghat-Jagdalpur broad-guage
Rail project- were signed. Mr. Modi said that these projects will transform the lives of people in this region. It will connect Bastar to mainstream development. He said that Ultra Mega Steel Plant steel will be established here and collective efforts will be made to expedite development of Bastar region.
Talking about these projects, Mr. Modi said "
Today I can see Dr Raman Singh's dreams turning into reality".
Capital investment of nearly 24 thousand crores will be done in these projects. It has been seen earlier that capital investment of Rs 5000 crores in a district boosts its development to a greater extent. And now, in just one day, nearly Rs 24000 crores is being invested in
Bastar district. This huge investment will prove to be a milestone in the development of this region. Mr. Modi said- Although Dr Raman Singh is my friend, but I have always had special feeling of respect for him. Dr Singh has always been concerned for interests of poor and tribal people. The day his government was formed in
Chhattisgarh, he decided that he would curb exploitation of tribal people and would make salt easily available for them at nominal rates. Earlier, the tribal people here used to sell off valuable forest produce like chiraunji and cashews for buying salt. Dr Raman Singh has made arrangement to distribute salt free of cost and in this way, there exploitation has been stopped.
Seeing this positive change and his genuine concern for poor and tribal people of state, my respect for Dr Raman Singh has enhanced even more.
On the occasion, Mr. Modi has distributed bonus to tendupatta labourers, and requested them to utilize the money for betterment of their children's lives. In his address to the general meeting, Mr. Modi also praised Dr Raman Singh for the
Education City Project in village Jawanga of Dantewada. Prime Minister gave the title of '
Gyan Nagri' to Education City. He said- today, I have met those children in education city, who have lost their parents or who are living away from their parents because of naxal violence. Mr. Modi congratulated Dr Raman Singh for conducting this project for education of such children. He said that there were people who wanted to mislead these children to the path of violence, but Dr Raman Singh made them to hold pens in their hands and write a new chapter of their bright future. After meeting the children in Education City, I can say that violence has no future; it is the path of development that leads to peace, said Mr. Modi.
About the problem of Naxal-violence in Bastar region, Prime Minister said that when bloodshed was in rise in
Punjab, who had imagined that this state will ever witness development. Mr. Modi said that countrymen should not get disappointed; a day will come when this episode of violence and bloodshed will finally come to an end.
I believe that some or the other day, people following the wrong path of violence will finally undergo change of heart. They will eventually realize the importance of humanity. To naxalites indulged in violent activities, he advised that they should spend a day or two with the children, who have lost their parents in naxal violence. This will make them realize the pain of such children, and this pain will compel them to undergo change of heart. Just once, for the sake of humanity, go and visit those victim families; you will realize that violence does no good to anyone.
Violence is no solution to any problem, said Mr. Modi to naxalites. He added that there will come a day, when Chhattisgarh will overcome this problem and become the number one state of the country. Chhattisgarh has the potential that change the future of the country.
