The Strangeloves were a band created in 1964 by a New York-based American songwriting production team who pretended to be from Australia.
Consisting of Bob Feldman, Jerry Goldstein, and Richard Gottehrer, The Strangeloves' most successful singles were "I Want Candy," "Cara-Lin", and "Night Time". Before the invention of The Strangeloves, the three-member team ‒ often going by FGG Productions ‒ had already scored hits for other artists including 1963's "My Boyfriend's Back" by the American female group, The Angels.
According to the press releases, The Strangeloves were three brothers named Giles, Miles, and Niles Strange who were raised on an Australian sheep farm. The brothers' fictional backstory involved getting rich with the invention of a new form of sheep crossbreeding (the long-haired "Gottehrer" sheep allegedly registered with the Feldman-Goldstein Company of Australia) which allowed them the time and financial freedom to form a band. The story did not exactly capture the public's imagination, but The Strangeloves' singles still performed respectably well, especially in the United States.
I Want can refer to:
"I Want Candy" is a song written and originally recorded by The Strangeloves in 1965 that went to number 11 in the United States. It is a famous example of a song that uses the Bo Diddley beat.
"I Want Candy" was written by Bert Berns, Bob Feldman, Jerry Goldstein and Richard Gottehrer in 1965. As writer/producers, Feldman, Goldstein and Gottehrer had already scored big hits for other artists, including "My Boyfriend's Back" by The Angels. For this song, the trio took on the moniker of The Strangeloves, and recorded the tune themselves, augmented by studio musicians (co-writer Berns was not involved in the studio recording).
The female vocal half screaming half singing "Baby!" in the middle was an unknown session singer.
Although Feldman, Goldstein and Gottehrer used their real names in the writing and production credits of this single, they claimed The Strangeloves were actually three Australian brothers (and ex-sheep farmers) named Giles, Miles and Niles Strange. Feldman, Goldstein and Gottehrer dressed up in shaggy wigs and exotic clothing for publicity photos as The Strangeloves.
Strange Love is a 2005 reality series featuring Brigitte Nielsen and Flavor Flav.
Strange Love or Strangelove may also refer to:
Night Time is the fifth studio album by English post-punk band Killing Joke. It was released in March 1985, through record label E.G.
Night Time was released in March 1985 by record label E.G. It was an international hit, reaching number 11 in the United Kingdom, number 8 in New Zealand and number 50 in Sweden.
The album was remastered and reissued in 2008, with nine bonus tracks. The bonus tracks include the non-album single "A New Day", three remixes and four tracks from a 1984 Kid Jensen BBC radio session.
In his retrospective review, Ned Raggett of AllMusic opines that the album finds the band's music "caught between their earlier aggression and a calmer, more immediately accessible approach. This turned out to be the band's Achilles heel in the end, with later albums in the '80s evidence that the group had turned into an unbelievably boring, generic modern rock band. At this point, however, the tension between the two sides had a perfect balance, and as a result, Night Time is arguably the quartet's freshest album since its debut, with a warm, anthemic quality now supplementing the blasting, driving approach that made the band's name". Adrian Begrand of PopMatters opined that, with the album, the band "perfected" their "balance between antagonism and accessibility" and that "the band are simply on fire on this record".

This is the original Hang On Sloopy by the Strangeloves before they discovered Rick Douchebag Derringer From wikipedia While performing on the road in Ohio in 1965 as The Strangeloves, Feldman, Goldstein, and Gottehrer came upon a local band known as Ricky Z and the Raiders, led by Rick Derringer (known as Rick Zehringer at the time). Recognizing their raw talent, the producers immediately brought Derringer and his band to New York, recorded Derringer's voice over an existing music track from The Strangeloves' album, I Want Candy, and released "Hang on Sloopy" as a single under the name The McCoys. Not sure the origin of this video, found it online a while back so uploaded it.

My Boyfriend's Back was a hit song in 1963 for The Angels, an American girl group. It was written by the songwriting team of Bob Feldman, Jerry Goldstein and Richard Gottehrer (a.k.a. FGG Productions who later formed the group The Strangeloves). The recording, employing the services of drummer Gary Chester, was originally intended as a demo for The Shirelles, but ended up being released as recorded. The result was a single that spent three weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and number two on the R&B; Billboard.

This talk will be a summary of the work of Mark Burgess (http://markburgess.org/blog_devops.html) on Promise Theory (http://markburgess.org/BookOfPromises.pdf) and its implications and application to Configuration Management, Monitoring, and other things DevOps. Examples will start simple by modeling interactions that almost anyone can identify with. Displaying how we often think and model in obligations (e.g. A must do B, and C must do D). However individual agents in this world actually work in a much different autonomous way. An autonomous agent can only make promises about its own behavior. Examples will then cover modeling common interactions with software deployments using common configuration management, monitoring and other devops problems. Finally the theory will be br...

LINK: http://tinyurl.com/Channel-Index While the Strangeloves managed to produce one garage band classic, their story is probably more interesting than their actual music. Bob Feldman, Jerry Goldstein, and Richard Gottehrer were a trio of Brooklyn songwriter/producers who landed a number one girl group hit with the Angels' "My Boyfriend's Back." When the British Invasion crested in the mid-'60s, they decided to get in on the act by recording as a group, billing themselves as an Australian outfit to cash in on the mystique being attached to foreign groups. "I Want Candy," with its crunching Bo Diddley beat, jo...

The Fleshtones appeared for an interview and mini-performance on Much Music in Toronto, Canada back in 1986. The performance took place in the original Much studios at 99 Queen Street East. This performance is an excerpt. They cover The Sheep (aka The Strangeloves, Richard Gottehrer). Classic Fleshtones line-up with the late-great Gordon Spaeth on sax. Quality is not the best, but it is 2nd generation, off the original VHS of the person who luckily taped it off the TV in the first place, and it is from back in the 80s, after all.

This Indiana group was still in high school when they were tapped by the Strangeloves production team of Feldman-Goldstein-Gottehrer as a vehicle for their material in 1965. Their first effort, "Hang on Sloopy," was a monster number one smash, built around a riff and chorus that ranks with "Louie Louie" and "La Bamba" as a garage band perennial with its compelling, elemental simplicity. Featuring the lead vocals and lead guitar of a young Rick Derringer, they went on to cut a lot of similar chunky, innocuous pop/rock over the next couple years with fair success. The "Hang on Sloopy" sound-alike "Fever" was their only other Top Ten entry, and the Ritchie Valens cover "C'Mon Let's Go" their only other Top 40 hit. The McCoys recorded very little original material during their early years at ...
