Daniel

Daniel is a masculine given name and a surname of Hebrew origin. It means, "God is my judge", and derives from two early biblical figures, primary among them Daniel from the Book of Daniel. It is a common given name for males, and is also used as a surname. It is also the basis for various derived given names and surnames.

Background

The name evolved into over 100 different spellings in countries around the world. Nicknames (Dan, Danny) are common in both English and Hebrew, although in some instances "Dan" may be a complete given name rather than a nickname. The name "Daniil" (Даниил) is common in Russia. Feminine versions (Danielle, Daniela, Daniella, Dani, Danitza) are prevalent as well. The Dutch names "Daan" and "Daniël" are also variations of Daniel. A related surname developed as a patronymic, Daniels. Other surnames derived from "Daniel" include McDaniel and Danielson.

In the United States, the U.S. Social Security Administration reports that Daniel has peaked as the fifth most popular name for newborns in 1985, 1990, 2007, and 2008. The U.S. Census Bureau reported that in the 2000 census, "Daniels" was the 182nd most common surname in the U.S., while "McDaniel" was ranked at 323, and "Daniel" (without a final "s") was ranked at 380.

The Dirt

The Dirt: Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band (ISBN 0-06-098915-7) is a collaborative autobiography written by Mötley Crüe, Neil Strauss, and the "Mötley" managers, where they write about the members of Mötley Crüe. First published in 2001, it chronicles the formation of the band, their rise to fame and their decadent lifestyles. They write of the highs and lows of their lives with rare candor.

The Dirt was written by Tommy Lee, Mick Mars, Vince Neil and Nikki Sixx, with the aid of New York Times writer Neil Strauss, and contains chapters written by brief bandmember John Corabi and former band manager Doc McGhee. Music executives such as co-manager Doug Thaler, Tom Zutaut, and Mike Amata also make short contributions in which they present their versions of events.

The book contains over 100 photographs, mostly black and white, with a 16-page color section in the middle of the book.

The first hardback edition was on the New York Times Bestseller list for four weeks and sold 13,000 copies in the UK.

Daniel Gunnarsson

Daniel Gunnarsson (born April 15, 1992) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player. He currently plays for Luleå HF of the Elitserien. He was the fifth round draft choice of the Minnesota Wild in the 2012 entry draft.

Music is an art form and cultural activity whose medium is sound and silence. Daniel Jensen

Daniel Monberg Jensen (born 25 June 1979) is a Danish professional football player who currently plays for Lyngby Boldklub. He is a central midfielder known for making good passes in the final third of the field. He has played more than 50 matches and scored three goals for the Danish national team, and represented his country at the 2004 European Championship. He is the younger brother of a retired former Denmark international player Niclas Jensen.

Born in Copenhagen, Daniel Jensen started playing football at B93 in the secondary Danish 1st Division. He was called up for Danish under-19 national team in September 1995, and made his senior debut for Boldklubben in the fall 1996. He played a total 16 matches and scored three goals for the under-19 national team, before he was sold to Dutch club Heerenveen in July 1998.

While at Heerenveen, he played 19 games and scored two goals for the Danish under-21 national team. In February 2002, he made his Danish national team debut under national coach Morten Olsen.
