Metonic cycle - Video Learning - WizScience.com
For astronomy and calendar studies, the "Metonic cycle" or "Enneadecaeteris" is a period of very close to 19 years that is remarkable for being nearly a common multiple of the solar year and the synodic month. The Greek astronomer Meton of Athens observed that a period of 19 years is almost exactly equal to 235 synodic months and, rounded to full days, counts 6,940 days. The difference betwe

Binaural beats, or binaural tones, are auditory processing artifacts, or apparent sounds, caused by specific physical stimuli. This effect was discovered in 1839 by Heinrich Wilhelm Dove and earned greater public awareness in the late 20th century based on claims coming from the alternative medicine community that binaural beats could help induce relaxation, meditation, creativity and other desirable mental states. The effect on the brainwaves depends on the difference in frequencies of each tone: for example, if 300 Hz was played in one ear and 310 in the other, then the binaural beat would have a frequency of 10 Hz

The difference between the two periods is only a few hours, depending on the definition of the year.
Considering a year to be of this 6,940-day cycle gives a year length of 365 + + days , which is slightly more than 12 synodic months. To keep a 12-month lunar year in pace with the solar year, an intercalary 13th month would have to be added on seven occasions during the nineteen-year period . When Meton introduced the cycle around 432 BC, it was already known by Babylonian astronomers.
A mechanical computation of the cycle is built into the Antikythera mechanism.
The cycle was used in the Babylonian calendar, ancient Chinese calendar systems and the medieval computus . It regulates the 19-year cycle of intercalary months of the modern Hebrew calendar.
At the time of Meton, axial precession had not yet been discovered, and he could not distinguish between sidereal years and tropical years . Most calendars, like the commonly used Gregorian calendar, are based on the tropical year and maintain the seasons at the same calendar times each year. Nineteen tropical years are about two hours shorter than 235 synodic months. The Metonic cycle's error is, therefore, one full day every 219 years, or 12.4 parts per million.

A full moon coinciding with Christmas does not happen often — usually, once every 19 years. But this time, it is different, because a full moon on Christmas hasn't happened in nearly four decades. The last one was in 1977, and that's because of the vagaries of our calendar and a lunar cycle known for almost 2,500 years.
According to the cycle, a Christmas Day full moon should have happened 19 years ago, in 1996, but it didn't because the Metonic cycle is only approximate and the number of leap days (four or five) in a period of 19 years can give rise to a discrepancy of one day.
In 1996, the full moon fell not on Christmas Day, but Christmas Eve. And in this particular case, adding 19 years to 1996 saw a jump of one day, moving the full moon to Christmas Day in 2015.
Interestingly, if we use the Metonic cycle going backward from 1996, we also jump forward one day to Christmas Day in 1977, which was the last time we had a full moon on Christmas Day.
Now, if we add 19 years to 2015, we find that the Metonic cycle will work perfectly with no one-day jumps — so the next time a full moon will occur on Christmas Day will be in 2034. But that will work only for the 48 contiguous states, because for those living in Alaska and Hawaii, the moon will officially turn full before the stroke of midnight on Christmas Eve.

"VisionarySoundSystem, AKA Drew Relf, is an independent music lover from the Garden of England.
VisionarySoundSystem was born in the monochrome days of the 1960's and grew into teenage-hood in the mid/late 1970's where he discovered the joys of Reggae & Punk Rock and took up
playing bass guitar in a variety of Punk and Mod style Rhythm & Blues bands up to the 1980's.
VSS uses his slight musical skills, loops, samples & anything else that sounds right to weave aural adventures & sonic landscapes. Using a fusion of genres that range from Dance to Dub, Ambient to Acoustic, World to Weird, Up-tempo to Down-tempo; VisionarySoundSystem tries to mix styles and vibes to create something recognizable yet experimental & challenging.

Here it’s my pleasure to show one of them and it has got graduations along with the circumference of the mirror.
They say these are “mirrors”, but they have another more important meanings on the reverse side of the mirror, about which little attention is paid.
Are these just mirrors?
No!
I show you another evidence that these are NOT.

In July 2008, scientists reported new findings in the journal Nature showing that the mechanism not only tracked the Metonic calendar and predict solar eclipses, but also calculated the timing of the Ancient Olympic Games.
On the back of the mechanism, there are five dials: the two large displays, the Metonic and the Saros, and three smaller indicators.
The Metonic Dial is the main upper dial on the rear of the mechanism.
The Metonic cycle, defined in several physical units, is 235 synodic months, which is very close (to within less than 13 one-millionths) to 19 tropical years.
It is therefore a convenient interval over which to convert between lunar and solar calendars.

The sunken ship's hull was full of bronze statues and other ancient artefacts that were later retrieved and delivered to the National Archaeological Museum in Athens for cleaning and restoration.
