Dokyo as Astronomical Cmputing Machines 天文計算機としての銅鏡 Mysterious Number of Graduations of Disc Mirrors, unearthed in Japan （A Disc Mirror in Inuyama-city and Himoko’s Mirror at Munakata Taisha, Fukuoka, Japan） 銅鏡の裏面にある、謎の目盛り Here it’s my pleasure to show one of them and it has got graduations along with the circumference of the mirror. They say these are “mirrors”, but they have another more important meanings on the reverse side of the mirror, about which little attention is paid. Are these just mirrors? No! I show you another evidence that these are NOT. Hiroshi Hayashi++++++++++++はやし浩司 Rear face（裏面）（Wikipedia） Computer-generated back panel コンピューター制御の裏面 In July 2008, scientists reported new findings in the journal Nature showing that the mechanism not only tracked the Metonic calendar and predict solar eclipses, but also calculated the timing of the Ancient Olympic Games. ２００８年の７月、科学者は新しい発見をした。「Nature誌」に発表された。アンティキティラ・機械は、メトン周期と日食を示すのみならず、古代オリンピックの時期を計算したというのだ。 （メトン周期（Metonic Cycle））：メトン周期とはある日付での月相が一致する周期の1つをいう。 19太陽年は235朔望月にほぼ等しいという周期のこと。 紀元前433年、アテナイの数学者・メトンが発見したのでこの名がある。 中国では、19年を1章と呼ぶことから章法（しょうほう）と呼ばれた。 On the back of the mechanism, there are five dials: the two large displays, the Metonic and the Saros, and three smaller indicators. アンテキティラの裏には、５つのダイアルがある。メトン周期とサロス周期、そして３つの小さな指示板である。 The Metonic Dial is the main upper dial on the rear of the mechanism. メトン周期は、アンティキティラの裏面の上部にあるダイアルをいう。 The Metonic cycle, defined in several physical units, is 235 synodic months, which is very close (to within less than 13 one-millionths) to 19 tropical years. メトン周期は、２３５朔望月をいう。そしてそれはほぼ１９太陽年に一致する。 （注：この周期は、太陰太陽暦で閏月を入れる回数を求めるのに用いられた。 19太陽年は365.242 194日×19=6939.601 686日、235朔望月は29.530 589日×235=6939.688 415日でほぼ等しくなっている。 12か月×19年=228か月であるので、メトン周期に従うと19年間に7回の閏月を入れれば太陽年とのずれが解消されることになる。 ただし19太陽年と235朔望月とは完全に一致しているのではなく、19太陽年につき約0.0867日ずれている。 この微小な差が蓄積され、219太陽年が経過すると、ほぼ1日ずれることになる。このため時々改暦を行い、ずれを修正する必要があった。 メトンは1太陽年を365日ちょうどとし19太陽年=235朔望月=6940日として計算しているので、のちにカリポスやヒッパルコスによって修正された。 It is therefore a convenient interval over which to convert between lunar and solar calendars. それゆえに、太陰暦と太陽暦のずれを調整するためには、便利な方式だった。 Hiroshi Hayashi++++++++++++はやし浩司 【Antikythera mechanism（アンティキテラの機械）】 "In 1900, on the day before Easter Sunday, a team of divers discovered a shipwreck off Antikythera whilst attempting to find sponges. １９００年の、イースター日曜日の前の日、ダイバー・チームが、Antikyyjeraの沖で、海藻をさがしているとき、難破船を発見した。 The sunken ship's hull was full of bronze statues and other ancient artefacts that were later retrieved and delivered to the National Archaeological Museum in Athens for cleaning and restoration. 沈没船の船底部には、ブロンズの像と、古代の人工遺物などが詰まっていた。それらは後に、回収され、クリーニングと保存のため、アテネの国立考古美術館に運ばれた。 These are based upon Hiroshi Hayashi’s original ideas.
