They said: 'Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters and officers have been called to a large fire on an industrial estate on Culvert Place in Battersea. 'The fire is affecting an industrial unit and smoke from the blaze can be seen for miles around. Brigade 999 control officers have taken around 90 emergency calls to the incident.' Flames soared above rooftops next to the railway line, while smoke could be seen from miles around. Southern Trains warned passengers that the fire would cause delays until the end of the day. The company tweeted: 'Due to a fire on a property near the railway between Clapham Junction & Victoria trains are running at reduced speed.' London Fire Brigade remained at the scene for several hours. Clapham Junction has since reopened The cause of the massive blaze is still not known. The fire could have caused travel chaos for thousands London Fire Brigade later shut the rail line after the blaze spread to a warehouse adjoining the rail line. The cause of the fire remains unknown. Southern Rail tweeted last night: 'Due to a large lineside fire in the Battersea Park area, the London Fire Brigade have asked Network Rail to close all lines between Clapham Junction and London Victoria. 'We are unable to run any services into or out of London Victoria at present. Passengers are advised to travel to London Bridge or Blackfriars and change where necessary. Tickets will be valid on Thameslink Southeastern South West Trains, London Underground or London Bus.' The fire broke out beside rail lines which lead into Clapham Junction railway station in South London London Fire Brigade urged local residents to keep their doors and windows closed due to smoke Station Manager David Farr said from the scene: 'This is a large fire and crews are working hard to get it under control. It's producing a lot of smoke so we would advise local residents to keep doors and windows closed as a precaution.' Firefighters remained at the scene for several more hours to extinguish the blaze. In the early hours of Thursday morning National Rail tweeted: 'CLEARED: Trains are now running normally to and from Clapham Junction following a line side fire.'
