This is what my channel is about,training lizards,not raising lizards. I want people to know that lizards can be trained. I have trained this lizard and others to come to me at the sound of my voice. Male Green Iguana 5-6 years old (The General or Mr. Bigs as he is known as) decides that he is the Alpha Male. Here are my unprofessional observations and techniques to dealing with biting and aggression.
Showing classic signs of aggression that lead to biting.
1. Puffing up/getting big (more specifically angling his body so you can always see his sides)
2. Head tracking. (Iguana's head closely follows owner's hands or body. Usually fast head movements)
3.Tail shaking (a preemptive wriggle of the tail before whipping)
4. Charging
5. Squaring up. (Iguana always keeps the owner in sight)
6. Evil eyes. ( A good owner can tell if his Igg's eyes are looking mean)
Tips for dealing with biting
(these tips are not fool proof, but have helped me raise a calm iguana)
1.Let them get their biting satisfaction. For young iguanas THAT CAN'T HURT YOU, let them bite you! As soon as they know that biting does nothing to you, the sooner they won't try it again. For older Iggs, try the glove method in my video.
2. Don't back down. Leaving a situation means the Igg has won. Stand your ground if it means not getting hurt.
3. Don't fight fire with fire. Never hit or squeeze your Igg.
4.Eliminate negative outside stimulus. Deal with your Igg in a quiet, undisturbed environment.
Apologies for video quality and cinematography. I was almost bitten and had to drop the camera halfway through the video. I was cleaning up his room so forgive the mess :)

Iguana is a herbivorous genus of lizard native to tropical areas of Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. The genus was first described in 1768 by Austrian naturalist Josephus Nicolaus Laurenti in his book Specimen Medicum, Exhibens Synopsin Reptilium Emendatam cum Experimentis circa Venena. Two species are included in the genus Iguana: the Green Iguana, which is widespread throughout its range and a popular pet, and the Lesser Antillean Iguana, which is endemic to the Lesser Antilles and endangered due to habitat destruction.
The word "iguana" is derived from a Spanish form of the original Taino name for the species "Iwana".
In addition to the two species in the genus Iguana, there are also several other related genera in the same family for which the common name of the species includes the word "iguana".
The two species of lizard within the genus Iguana possess a dewlap, a row of spines running down their back to their tail, and a third "eye" on their head. This eye is known as the parietal eye, visible as a pale scale on the top of the head. Behind their neck are small scales which resemble spokes, known as tuberculate scales. These scales may be a variety of colors and are not always visible from close distances. They have a large round scale on their cheek known as a subtympanic shield.

Male Green Iguana 5-6 years old (The General or Mr. Bigs as he is known as) decides that he is the Alpha Male. Here are my unprofessional observations and techniques to dealing with biting and aggression.
Showing classic signs of aggression that lead to biting.
1. Puffing up/getting big (more specifically angling his body so you can always see his sides)
2. Head tracking. (Iguana's head closely follows owner's hands or body. Usually fast head movements)
3.Tail shaking (a preemptive wriggle of the tail before whipping)
4. Charging
5. Squaring up. (Iguana always keeps the owner in sight)
6. Evil eyes. ( A good owner can tell if his Igg's eyes are looking mean)
Tips for dealing with biting
(these tips are not fool proof, but have helped me raise a calm iguana)
1.Let them get their biting satisfaction. For young iguanas THAT CAN'T HURT YOU, let them bite you! As soon as they know that biting does nothing to you, the sooner they won't try it again. For older Iggs, try the glove method in my video.
2. Don't back down. Leaving a situation means the Igg has won. Stand your ground if it means not getting hurt.
3. Don't fight fire with fire. Never hit or squeeze your Igg.
4.Eliminate negative outside stimulus. Deal with your Igg in a quiet, undisturbed environment.
