Rammohan College

Rammohan College is an undergraduate and postgraduate college in Kolkata, India. It is affiliated with the University of Calcutta. It owns its origin to City College, Kolkata which is one of the oldest first grade colleges in West Bengal. The college is located at 102/1, Raja Rammohan Roy Sarani, Kolkata-700 009.

History

It was founded as City College in 1881 by a band of Brahmo leaders like Ananda Mohan Bose, Pandit Sivanath Sastri and Umesh Chandra Dutta. Rastraguru Surendranath Banerjee later joined the college as a teacher. It was re-established as a separate entity in 1961 as Rammohan College.

Aim

The aim of the college according to founders is to promote the cause of education in its highest and widest sense to make education a comprehensive training of the mind, heart and the body and founded on theistic basis conductive to the good of man and glory of God.

Campuses

The college is open to all students irrespective of race, creed or caste. It has a record of brilliant results. It is one of the City Group colleges administered by Brahmo Samaj Education Society, a registered society, constituted by the Sadharan Brahmo Samaj, Kolkata.

Ram Mohan

Ram Mohan (born 1931) is an Indian animator, title designer and design educator, who also known as father of Indian Animation and is a veteran in the Indian animation industry, who started his career at the Cartoon Films Unit, Films Division of India, Government of India in 1956. He is also chairman and chief creative officer at Graphiti Multimedia, a Mumbai-based animation company which was established in 1995, and later he also established the Graphiti School of Animation in 2006.

He has won the National Film Award for Best Non-Feature Animation Film twice, You Said It (1972) and Fire Games (1983). He was awarded a lifetime achievement award at the 2006 Mumbai International Film Festival and was awarded the Padma Shri the fourth-highest civilian award given by Government of India in 2014

Early life and education

Graduated in Chemistry from the University of Madras and later moved to Mumbai for his post-graduate studies but gave it up to join the Cartoon Films Unit, Films Division, Government of India in 1956. He received training in animation techniques from Clair Weeks of Walt Disney Studios, under the US Technical Aid program. Weeks was at the time serving a two-year stint as the head of the Cartoon Films Unit. Another important person to join at the same time was Bhimsain Khurana, who also became a notable animator (Ek Anek Aur Ekta).

Ram Mohan Roy

Raja Ram Mohan Roy, also known as Rammohan Roy or Rammohun Roy, (22 May 1772 – 27 September, 1833) was the founder of the Brahmo Sabha movement in 1828, which engendered the Brahmo Samaj, an influential Bengali socio-religious reform movement. His influence was apparent in the fields of politics, public administration and education as well as religion. He is best known for his efforts to establish the abolishment of the practice of sati, the Hindu funeral practice in which the widow was compelled to sacrifice herself in her husband’s funeral pyre in some parts of Bengal. It was he who first introduced the word "Hinduism" into the English language in 1816. For his diverse contributions to society, Raja Ram Mohan Roy is regarded as one of the most important figures in the Bengali renaissance. His efforts to protect Hinduism and Indian rights by participating in British government earned him the title "The Father of the Indian Renaissance". The British government has named a street in memory of Ram Mohan Roy as "Raja Rammohan Way".

Nusrat Jahan

Nusrat Jahan is an Indian Bengali film actress and model. Jahan's screen debut was in Raj Chakraborty’s Shotru. She is slated for the film Khoka 420 under the banner Eskay Movies. Her 2013 released movie is Khiladi with Ankush, Her latest movie is with Rahul Bose title as Sandhe Namar Agey. Her upcoming film is "Jamai 420" with Ankush under the banner of Shree Venkatesh Films. She is the most followed bengali actress on Facebook .

Early life and education

Nusrat Jahan was born to a Muslim family in Kolkata, West Bengal, India but is originally from Noakhali, Bangladesh. She completed her schooling at Queen of the Mission School in Kolkata and then completed her B.com degree at Bhawanipur College, Kolkata.

Career

Nusrat Jahan entered the glamour world after winning a beauty contest Fair-one Miss Kolkata in 2010. She entered Tollywood with bang with a movie Shotru with Jeet and became the heartthrob of West Bengal. A couple of years later her second film Khoka 420 with Dev and Recently released film Khiladi opposite Ankush Hazra. After that she took place in two item song namely Chiken Tandoori from Action and Desi Chhori from Yoddha - The Warrior movie. Then she took part in Shondhye Naamar Aagye with co-star Rahul Bose. In 2015 she was selected for a comedy film Jamai 420 with Ankush Hazra. Next, her 8th film Har Har Byomkesh recently released.
