The Indian Navy (IN; Hindi: भारतीय नौ सेना (Devanāgarī), Bhāratīya Nau Senā (Latin)) is the naval branch of the armed forces of India. The President of India serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy. The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), usually a four-star officer in the rank of Admiral, commands the navy. The Indian Navy is the fifth largest in the world. It played an important role in India's victory in the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War.
The Indian Navy can trace its lineage back to the Honourable East India Company's Marine which was founded in 1612 to protect British merchant shipping in the region. In 1757 the East India Company established its rule over much of the Indian subcontinent, but it wasn't until 1830 that the colonial navy became known as Her Majesty's Indian Navy. In 1858, East India Company rule gave way to the British Raj which lasted until India became independent in 1947. When India became a republic in 1950, the Royal Indian Navy as it had been named since 1934 was renamed to Indian Navy. The 17th-century Maratha emperor Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is considered as the 'Father of the Indian Navy'.
Mormugao is a sub-district and a municipal council in South Goa district in the Indian state of Goa. It is Goa’s main port. It was featured in the 1980 film The Sea Wolves and the Bollywood film Bhootnath.
Mormugão is located at 15°15′N 73°59′E / 15.25°N 73.98°E / 15.25; 73.98. It has an average elevation of 2 metres (7 feet).
As of 2001 India census, Mormugão had a population of 97,085. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Mormugão has an average literacy rate of 75%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 80%, and female literacy is 70%. In Mormugão, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
When the Portuguese colonised part of Goa in the sixteenth century, they based their operations in the central district of Tiswadi, notably in the international emporium 'City of Goa', now Old Goa. As threats to their maritime supremacy increased, they built forts on various hillocks, especially along the coast. In 1624, they began to build their fortified town on the headland overlooking Mormugão harbour.
A navy or maritime force is a fleet of waterborne military vessels (watercraft) and its associated naval aviation, both sea-based and land-based. It is the branch of a nation's armed forces principally designated for naval and amphibious warfare; namely, lake-borne, riverine, littoral, or ocean-borne combat operations and related functions. It includes anything conducted by surface ships, amphibious ships, submarines, and seaborne aviation, as well as ancillary support, communications, training, and other fields; recent developments have included space-related operations. The strategic offensive role of a navy is projection of force into areas beyond a country's shores (for example, to protect sea-lanes, ferry troops, or attack other navies, ports, or shore installations). The strategic defensive purpose of a navy is to frustrate seaborne projection-of-force by enemies. The strategic task of the navy also may incorporate nuclear deterrence by use of Submarine-launched ballistic missiles. Naval operations can be broadly divided between riverine and littoral applications (brown-water navy), open-ocean applications (blue-water navy), and something in between (green-water navy), although these distinctions are more about strategic scope than tactical or operational division.
Guided Missile was a London-based independent record label set up by Paul Kearney in 1994, and active until the early 2000s. Guided Missile Records focused on releases by underground indie bands through the late 1990s, and Guided Missile continues to the present day as an events promoter, at venues such as The Lexington and, until closure, the Buffalo Bar.
A series of 'tribute' records in the early 2000s culminated in a minor UK chart hit by Diff'rent Darkness in 2003.
Guided Missile has been acclaimed as an inspiration for current UK DIY labels such as Upset the Rhythm.
A guided-missile destroyer is a destroyer designed to launch guided missiles. Many are also equipped to carry out anti-submarine, anti-air, and anti-surface operations. The NATO standard designation for these vessels is DDG. Nations vary in their use of destroyer D designation their hull pennant numbering, either prefixing, or dropping it altogether. The U.S. Navy has adopted the classification DDG in the American hull classification system.
In addition to the guns that destroyers have, a guided-missile destroyer is usually equipped with two large missile magazines, usually in vertical-launch cells. Some guided-missile destroyers contain powerful radar systems, such as the United States’ Aegis Combat System, and may be adopted for use in an anti-missile or ballistic-missile defense role. This is especially true of navies that no longer operate cruisers, as other vessels must be adopted to fill in the gap.

In the grey fields of terror and death, where cannons
never sleep and hunger is never quenched, they die and
die and keep on dying in vermin and cold rancid blood.
Forward, forward! In mud and in blood! Forward, nevermind
the iron storm. Ardour has passed away a long time ago
now, no one could tell when, no one could tell why. But
this life is not life, it's the whole world committing
mass suicide. Once convicted of unity, now beholding the
true face of disharmony, allies have all failed, Sofia
has fallen. Whatever, the march goes on and on and on...
Here in the grey fields of terror and death, far away
from homeland, defeatists and traitors, the alliance of
death keeps on marching, keeps on dying for the sake of
eternal confrontation. Reeling skeletal shadows,
sleepless and dismayed, praying helpless gods when the
night is too long in quaint rosaries and rusty weaponry,
though there's no place for doubt: there will still be
death! In regrets and in fear, in sludge and in disease,
it keeps on calling to burn what's left to burn. Forward,
forward! In mud and in blood! And forget the mouths of
clay that swallow forever more. Fidelity to the one whom
time has passed can't prevent the ravage of his heritage
by the untenable scarlet tempest brought forth from the
land of his eastern akin. The illusion of peace, the hoax
of defeat has planted the seeds for times of sedition,
and men will be seduced and scream in jubilation as
