Vive, Viva and Vivat are interjections used in the Romance languages. Vive in French, Viva in Italian, Portuguese and Spanish, and Vivat in Latin and Romanian are subjunctive forms of the verb "to live". They literally mean, "live!" (imperative form), and are usually translated to English as "long live". They are often used to salute a person or non-personal entity: "Vive le Québec libre" (from Charles de Gaulle's Vive le Québec libre speech in Montreal), or "Viva il Duce!", the rough equivalent in Fascist Italy of the greeting, "Heil Hitler." Additionally, in monarchical times the king of France would be wished "Vive le Roi!" and the king of Italy "Viva il Re!", both meaning "Long live the King!".
The acclamation "Vivat" is still used in the British coronation ceremony, and when Queen Elizabeth II was crowned in Westminster Abbey in 1953 she was hailed with the words "Vivat Regina".
The medieval university Latin anthem De Brevitate Vitae has verses like:
In Spanish, for plural subjects, it becomes vivan. Compare ¡Viva el rey! with ¡Vivan los reyes!.
Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13, 1989) is an American singer-songwriter and occasional actress. Raised in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, Swift moved to Nashville, Tennessee at the age of fourteen to pursue a career in country music. She signed to the independent label Big Machine Records and became the youngest songwriter ever hired by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house. The release of Swift's self-titled debut album in 2006 established her as a country music star. "Our Song", her third single, made her the youngest sole writer and singer of a number one song on the country chart. She received a Best New Artist nomination at the 50th Grammy Awards.
Swift's second album, Fearless, was released in late 2008. Buoyed by the chart success of the singles "Love Story" and "You Belong with Me", Fearless attracted a crossover audience and became the top-selling album of 2009. The record won four Grammy Awards, with Swift becoming the youngest ever Album of the Year winner. Fearless also received Album of the Year plaudits at the American Music Awards, Academy of Country Music Awards and Country Music Association Awards, making it the most awarded album in country music history. In 2010, Swift released her third album, Speak Now, which sold over one million copies in its first week. She then embarked on the 111-date Speak Now World Tour, which was attended by over 1.6 million fans and has become one of the highest-grossing concert tours of all time. The album's third single, "Mean", won two Grammy Awards for Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance. Swift is currently recording her fourth studio album, due for release in the fall of 2012.
Well there is nothing else that we can lose. I put
heart upon my sleeve tonight. I know everything will
change soon,
I can see it in your eyes. You won't be here for very
long. If no one hears you, will you still want to sing?
If the harmonies disappear? They can't take our place.
I believe she is different that you and I.
She can see things that we can't see. She is alone in
this modern life.
My voice is forever changed but the notes are all the
same. How long till you want to see? I think we want it
out of reach.
And if it's something that I'll never come back well I
told you not to look at me
Because it's a man made thought with a God-like hook
and we will never have to go down.
So praises to the war machine and the distances growing
thin and the hopelessness of a tiny earth and make
shift hit.
I watched as she walked away. I knew the moment she
turned her back.
She could never be the same again and she is never
coming back.
In the land of a thousand fathers she was born on the
fourth of July.
Well that don't mean she was made in America because
she was gone in the blink of and eye.
She belongs but she acts like a stranger. She collapsed
but she ain't free.
I am my only devil and they'll believe what they want
to believe.
