STORYLINE:
Myanmar's military leadership has put former dictator Ne Win and his daughter Sandar Win under effective house arrest after his son-in-law and grandsons were arrested for plotting to overthrow the government.
"They are not under house arrest but no one is allowed to go in or come out of the house, for security reasons," Major General Kyaw Win, the deputy head of military intelligence, told a news conference on Monday.
Sandar Win's husband, Aye Zaw Win, and their three sons were arrested on 7 March for allegedly plotting a coup.
The plot reportedly involved trying to recruit military units to kidnap and coerce Myanmar's military leaders to give up power and swear allegiance to Ne Win.
Since 7 March access to the Ne Win's and Sandar Win's homes, which are in the same compound, has been blocked by barbed-wire barricades.
Ne Win, a highly superstitious man, ruled Myanmar for 26 years until 1988, leading the country to authoritarianism and economic ruin. He was replaced by the current group of generals who have also been criticized by the international community for failing to respect human rights and democracy.

June Bellamy, the last Princess of Burma, also known as Myanmar, was married to Myanmar’s Dictator U Ne Win who ruled the country from 1962 to 1988. I was interested in knowing more about this 84 year old woman who was teaching cooking in this trailer.

My grandmother is Yadana Nat Mai aka June Bellamy’s cousin, and I remember my grandmother telling me stories about Bellamy often when I was a little girl. With the help of Directors, Barbara Andriano and Guendalina di Marco, we arranged a place where June Bellamy and I can see each other. I not only wanted to meet her to know more about my personal roots, but I wanted to understand her point of view on Burma’s history. I wanted to know why the last princess of Myanmar married the dictator of Burma.

STORYLINE:
Myanmar's military government arrested four relatives of the former dictator Ne Win on Saturday for attempting to stage a coup.
Major General Kyaw Win, the deputy head of military intelligence, told a news conference that Ne Win's son-in-law and three grandchildren were under investigation.
Informed sources, who requested anonymity, said all the country's regional military commanders had been summoned to Yangon for a meeting.
Ne Win's son-in-law Aye Zaw Win was arrested Thursday night while having dinner at a Chinese restaurant, said family members, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Aye Zaw Win's sons were also arrested but initial reports said only two had been taken in.
Access to the house they share with the 90-year-old former dictator and his daughter Sandar Win - the wife of Aye Zaw Win's - was blocked by barbed-wire barricades early Friday morning, neighbors said.
Ne Win was at the forefront of Myanmar's struggle for independence from Britain, which was achieved in 1948, when the country was known as Burma.
He seized power in a bloodless coup in 1962 and his subsequent authoritarian rule sullied his reputation as a national hero. He retired in 1988, just before a popular uprising for democracy that was triggered by his misrule.

Ne Win (Burmese: နေဝင်း IPA: [nè wɪ́ɴ]; born on 24 May or 14 May 1911 or 10 July 1910 – 5 December 2002) was a Burmese politician and military commander. He was Prime Minister of Burma from 1958 to 1960 and 1962 to 1974 and also head of state from 1962 to 1981. He also was the founder and from 1962 to 1988 the chairman of the Burma Socialist Programme Party, which from 1964 until 1988 was the sole political party in the Burmese nation state.
Ne Win's date of birth is not known with certainty. The English language publication Who's Who in Burma published in 1961 by People's Literature House, Rangoon, stated that Ne Win was born on 24 May 1911. Dr. Maung Maung stated in the Burmese version of his book Burma and General Ne Win, also published in English, that Ne Win was born on 14 May 1911. However, in a book written in Burmese titled The Thirty Comrades, the author Kyaw Nyein gave Ne Win's date of birth as 10 July 1910.

STORYLINE:
Myanmar's military leadership has put former dictator Ne Win and his daughter Sandar Win under effective house arrest after his son-in-law and grandsons were arrested for plotting to overthrow the government.
"They are not under house arrest but no one is allowed to go in or come out of the house, for security reasons," Major General Kyaw Win, the deputy head of military intelligence, told a news conference on Monday.
Sandar Win's husband, Aye Zaw Win, and their three sons were arrested on 7 March for allegedly plotting a coup.
The plot reportedly involved trying to recruit military units to kidnap and coerce Myanmar's military leaders to give up power and swear allegiance to Ne Win.
Since 7 March access to the Ne Win's and Sandar Win's homes, which are in the same compound, has been blocked by barbed-wire barricades.
Ne Win, a highly superstitious man, ruled Myanmar for 26 years until 1988, leading the country to authoritarianism and economic ruin. He was replaced by the current group of generals who have also been criticized by the international community for failing to respect human rights and democracy.

June Bellamy, the last Princess of Burma, also known as Myanmar, was married to Myanmar’s Dictator U Ne Win who ruled the country from 1962 to 1988. I was interested in knowing more about this 84 year old woman who was teaching cooking in this trailer.

My grandmother is Yadana Nat Mai aka June Bellamy’s cousin, and I remember my grandmother telling me stories about Bellamy often when I was a little girl. With the help of Directors, Barbara Andriano and Guendalina di Marco, we arranged a place where June Bellamy and I can see each other. I not only wanted to meet her to know more about my personal roots, but I wanted to understand her point of view on Burma’s history. I wanted to know why the last princess of Myanmar married the dictator of Burma.

Myanmar's military government arrested four relatives of the former dictator Ne Win on Saturday for attempting to stage a coup.
Major General Kyaw Win, the deputy head of military intelligence, told a news conference that Ne Win's son-in-law and three grandchildren were under investigation.
Informed sources, who requested anonymity, said all the country's regional military commanders had been summoned to Yangon for a meeting.
Ne Win's son-in-law Aye Zaw Win was arrested Thursday night while having dinner at a Chinese restaurant, said family members, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Aye Zaw Win's sons were also arrested but initial reports said only two had been taken in.
Access to the house they share with the 90-year-old former dictator and his daughter Sandar Win - the wife of Aye Zaw Win's - was blocked by barbed-wire barricades early Friday morning, neighbors said.
Ne Win was at the forefront of Myanmar's struggle for independence from Britain, which was achieved in 1948, when the country was known as Burma.
He seized power in a bloodless coup in 1962 and his subsequent authoritarian rule sullied his reputation as a national hero. He retired in 1988, just before a popular uprising for democracy that was triggered by his misrule.
