John Liu and Hwang Jang Lee once again star together in this Ming Dynasty kung fu epic film. The movie deals with a Ming General being framed for murder. He must fight off soldiers while looking for the real murderer. The movie was choreographed by Yuen Woo Ping (along with Corey Yuen and Yuen Biao). One of the best films in the genre.

7 Grandmasters (虎豹龍蛇鷹絕拳) is a 1978 kung fu film directed by Joseph Kuo, starring Mark Long, Jack Long, Corey Yuen and Lee Yi Min. It was filmed in Mandarin, as opposed to Cantonese which is more common due to Hong Kong's enormous output on the genre.
Sang Kuan Chun is an old kung fu master who is getting ready to retire from martial arts. But just as he is about to put up the kings signboard and call it quits, he receives a note alleging that he's not the best. Thus begins his journey for one last challenge with each of the Seven Grandmasters to prove his superiority. As Sang Kuan Chun and his three students travel from one challenge to the next, the foursome acquires a fifth—a young man named Siu Ying who wants desperately to train under master Sang Kuan Chun to avenge his father's death. So he tags along, despite the master's insistence that he will not accept any more students. Eventually we learn more about the master's past.
His own teacher, before he died, left him the secret book of The Pai Mei Twelve Strikes. However a masked man soon stole several pages of the book, leaving only nine strikes. So, somewhere out there, is this unknown man, and he has the final three strikes of Pai Mei, which are the most deadly and can beat even the other nine strikes. Sang Kuan Chun soon accepts the seemingly devout Siu Ying and teaches him the nine known strikes of Pai Mei. Siu Ying ends up learning from his “uncle” that Sang Kuan Chun (who was set up) killed his father during a friendly tournament. Siu Ying is taught the final 3 strikes from a mysterious figure and almost kills Sang Kuan Chun until he being a loyal good student couldn't break his teacher's rule of "Never kill anyone if it can be avoided". This all leads up to an exciting climax, where we learn the identity of the masked man who stole the Pai Mei final strikes and the identity of the man who killed Siu Ying's father.

Handlung: (Spoileralarm) Der Teenager Jason zieht mit seinen Eltern von Los Angeles nach Seattle, nachdem sie ihren gut besuchten Karate-Dōjō an eine mafiöse Organisation abtreten mussten. Jasons Vater wird in einem Kampf mit Ivan, einem der Schläger der Organisation, so schwer verletzt, dass er seitdem auf Krücken laufen muss. Dadurch, dass er sein Geschäft und Hobby verloren hat, und nun in einer schäbigen kleinen Kneipe arbeiten muss, ist dieser meist frustriert und hätte es am liebsten, wenn auch Jason sich um andere Dinge kümmern würde, als um das Training. Dieser lässt sich jedoch nicht davon abbringen weiter zu trainieren, wenn auch nur in der Garage des elterlichen Hauses.
Eines Tages, nachdem sich Vater und Sohn wieder einmal in die Haare bekommen haben, verwüstet Jasons Vater dessen Trainingsraum und zerreißt dabei auch das Poster von Jasons großem Vorbild Bruce Lee. Schon geschunden genug, dadurch dass er sich zuvor auch schon dem Macker Dean geschlagen geben musste, der mit dem Mädchen seines Begehrens anbandelt, fährt Jason voller Verzweiflung zum Grabe Bruce Lees und bittet den toten „Sensei Lee" inständig, ihm zu helfen. In den darauffolgenden Nächten wird Jason in seinem neu eingerichteten geheimen Trainingsraum vom Geiste Lees heimgesucht. Dieser macht Jason auf dessen Bitte nun von Grund auf mit den Prinzipien des Jeet Kune Do, sowie mit geistigen Werten wie Disziplin und Durchsetzungsvermögen vertraut. Jasons einziger Freund in dieser neuen Umgebung, R.J., ein afro-amerikanischer Breakdancer, wird Zeuge, wie Jason jede Nacht gegen einen unsichtbaren Mann kämpft und von diesem quer durch den Raum geschleudert wird und hält ihn deswegen für leicht verrückt. Trotzdem hilft er ihm dabei, seine gesteckten Ziele zu erreichen.
Als es bei einem Karate-Wettkampf, gegen die Schergen des anfangs erwähnten Mafia-Clans, auch Kelly (in die sich Jason verguckt hat) an den Kragen geht, kann dieser nicht anders als einzugreifen. Nun kann er nicht nur beweisen, dass er nicht das Weichei ist, für den ihn viele halten, sondern kann gleichzeitig demjenigen eine Lektion erteilen, der ihn und seine Familie aus der alten Heimat vertrieb. Der finale Endkampf gegen Ivan den Russen findet statt und Jason besiegt ihn mit Hilfe des von Bruce Lee erlernten Kampfstils.

Corey Yuen
Corey Yuen (Chinese: 元奎; pinyin: Yuán Kuí; Cantonese Yale: Yuen4 Fui1; born Ying Gang-ming (殷元奎) 15 February 1951; also credited as Corey Yuen Kwai and Yuen Kwai) is a Hong Kong action director, film director, producer and action choreographer. He was a member of the Peking Opera Schools and one of the Seven Little Fortunes. As an actor, Yuen is perhaps best known as Rubber Legs' student in 1979 kung fu comedy film Dance of the Drunk Mantis. As an action director, Yuen gained fame in American cinema beginning with 1998 film Lethal Weapon 4, followed by the 2000 blockbuster X-Men and six of Jet Li's American works: Romeo Must Die, Kiss of the Dragon, The One, Cradle 2 the Grave, War, and The Expendables.
Personal life
Yuen was born in Hong Kong and was one of Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao's best friends during their days in the China Drama Academy Peking Opera School. They spent those days training in a harshly disciplined style under the watch of Master Yu Jim-yuen. He would go to appear as an extra in Hong Kong action films during the "chop socky" era of the 1970s.

7 Grandmasters (虎豹龍蛇鷹絕拳) is a 1978 kung fu film directed by Joseph Kuo, starring Mark Long, Jack Long, Corey Yuen and Lee Yi Min. It was filmed in Mandarin, as opposed to Cantonese which is more common due to Hong Kong's enormous output on the genre.
Sang Kuan Chun is an old kung fu master who is getting ready to retire from martial arts. But just as he is about to put up the kings signboard and call it quits, he receives a note alleging that he's not the best. Thus begins his journey for one last challenge with each of the Seven Grandmasters to prove his superiority. As Sang Kuan Chun and his three students travel from one challenge to the next, the foursome acquires a fifth—a young man named Siu Ying who wants desperately to train under master Sang Kuan Chun to avenge his father's death. So he tags along, despite the master's insistence that he will not accept any more students. Eventually we learn more about the master's past.
His own teacher, before he died, left him the secret book of The Pai Mei Twelve Strikes. However a masked man soon stole several pages of the book, leaving only nine strikes. So, somewhere out there, is this unknown man, and he has the final three strikes of Pai Mei, which are the most deadly and can beat even the other nine strikes. Sang Kuan Chun soon accepts the seemingly devout Siu Ying and teaches him the nine known strikes of Pai Mei. Siu Ying ends up learning from his “uncle” that Sang Kuan Chun (who was set up) killed his father during a friendly tournament. Siu Ying is taught the final 3 strikes from a mysterious figure and almost kills Sang Kuan Chun until he being a loyal good student couldn't break his teacher's rule of "Never kill anyone if it can be avoided". This all leads up to an exciting climax, where we learn the identity of the masked man who stole the Pai Mei final strikes and the identity of the man who killed Siu Ying's father.

Schon geschunden genug, dadurch dass er sich zuvor auch schon dem Macker Dean geschlagen geben musste, der mit dem Mädchen seines Begehrens anbandelt, fährt Jason voller Verzweiflung zum Grabe Bruce Lees und bittet den toten „Sensei Lee" inständig, ihm zu helfen. In den darauffolgenden Nächten wird Jason in seinem neu eingerichteten geheimen Trainingsraum vom Geiste Lees heimgesucht. Dieser macht Jason auf dessen Bitte nun von Grund auf mit den Prinzipien des Jeet Kune Do, sowie mit geistigen Werten wie Disziplin und Durchsetzungsvermögen vertraut. Jasons einziger Freund in dieser neuen Umgebung, R.J., ein afro-amerikanischer Breakdancer, wird Zeuge, wie Jason jede Nacht gegen einen unsichtbaren Mann kämpft und von diesem quer durch den Raum geschleudert wird und hält ihn deswegen für leicht verrückt. Trotzdem hilft er ihm dabei, seine gesteckten Ziele zu erreichen.
