Pope Leo X (11 December 1475 – 1 December 1521), born Giovanni di Lorenzo de' Medici, was Pope from 9 March 1513 to his death in 1521. The second son of Lorenzo the Magnificent, ruler of the Florentine Republic, he was elevated to the cardinalate in 1489.
Following the death of Pope Julius II, Giovanni was elected pope after securing the backing of the younger members of the Sacred College. Early on in his rule he oversaw the closing sessions of the Fifth Council of the Lateran, but failed sufficiently to implement the reforms agreed. In 1517 he led a costly war that succeeded in securing his nephew as duke of Urbino, but which damaged the papal finances. He later only narrowly escaped a plot by some cardinals to poison him.
He is probably best remembered for granting indulgences for those who donated to reconstruct St. Peter's Basilica, which practice was challenged by Martin Luther's 95 Theses. He seems not to have taken seriously the array of demands for church reform that would quickly grow into the Protestant Reformation. His Papal Bull of 1520, Exsurge Domine, simply condemned Luther on a number of areas and made ongoing engagement difficult. He did, however, grant establishment to the Oratory of Divine Love.
Martin Luther (/ˈluːθər/;German: [ˈmaɐ̯tiːn ˈlʊtɐ]; 10 November 1483 – 18 February 1546) was a German professor of theology, composer, priest, former monk and a seminal figure in the Protestant Reformation. Luther came to reject several teachings and practices of the Late Medieval Catholic Church. He strongly disputed the claim that freedom from God's punishment for sin could be purchased with money. He proposed an academic discussion of the power and usefulness of indulgences in his Ninety-Five Theses of 1517. His refusal to retract all of his writings at the demand of Pope Leo X in 1520 and the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V at the Diet of Worms in 1521 resulted in his excommunication by the Pope and condemnation as an outlaw by the Emperor.
Luther taught that salvation and subsequently eternal life is not earned by good deeds but is received only as a free gift of God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ as redeemer from sin. His theology challenged the authority and office of the Pope by teaching that the Bible is the only source of divinely revealed knowledge from God and opposed sacerdotalism by considering all baptized Christians to be a holy priesthood. Those who identify with these, and all of Luther's wider teachings, are called Lutherans even though Luther insisted on Christian or Evangelical as the only acceptable names for individuals who professed Christ.

The film begins with his vow to become a monk, and continues through his struggles to reconcile his desire for sanctification with his increasing abhorrence of the corruption and hypocrisy pervading the Church's hierarchy. He is ultimately charged with heresy and must confront the ruling cardinals and princes, urging them to make the Scriptures available to the common believer and lead the Church toward faith through justice and righteousness.

The Medici - Secrets of the most Powerful Family in the World (Full Documentary) Secrets of Rothschild Family Fortune: The Medici were among the most powerful families in the world. Beginning in the fourteenth century, they built a fortune bankrolling popes and kings. Through their wealth and their political abilities, they went from being one of many patrician clans in Florence to the city's hereditary rulers. They married into the royal houses of Austria and France, and two of their number were made pope. Scholars and lovers of art, the Medici were patrons of Leonardo, Raphael, Botticelli, Galileo, Michelangelo, and Cellini. And under their rule, Florence became the intellectual hub of the Western world. Many of the leading Medici were buried in the Chapel of San Lorenzo in Florence, w...

Today it is the 3rd of January 2016 and this day in 1521 the Pope Leo X excommunicated Martin Luther from the Catholic Church. Luther had gotten in to troubles because of his criticism towards the Catholic Church and his 95 thesis has become one of the most famous religious texts ever and was the start for the protestant church. Being excommunicated meant that Luther was no longer was a part of the Catholic Church, which at this time was more of a “shame on you thing” rather than “death on you thing” as it was during the middle ages. It was not until the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V made Luther an outlaw he was set under real danger, but he was protected by some powerful German noblemen and lived to spread the protestant beliefs in Europe. On the Evils Affecting Modern Society, by Pope Leo XIII (Christian Audiobook)
The Medici Pope, Leo X, authorized the sale of indulgences, in part to raise money for the rebuilding of St. Peter's in Rome. More than any other single factor, it was this that sparked the reaction of Martin Luther, and triggered a series of events that would ultimately explode into European history as the Protestant Reformation. This discussion highlights the life of Giovanni de Medici, Pope Leo X, and also explores the remarkable career of the most famous artist of the Renaissance, Michelangelo, and his complicated relationship with the Medici family.

Per me vale ancora cosi
Ci vuole passione con te
Non deve mancare mai
Ci vuole mestiere perchè
Lavoro di cuore lo sai
Cantare d'amore non basta mai
Ne servirà di più
Per dirtelo ancora per dirti che
Più bella cosa non c'è
Più bella cosa di te
Unica come sei
Unica come sei
Immensa quando vuoi
Grazie di esistere
