"The problem is essentially that yes, we need to spend more money on security, but every dollar that we spend on security is a dollar that we are not spending on medical care, or development or humanitarian affairs. So there is a very fine line that we''ve got to hit here. I mean, to take the money that we''re given by member states and to spend it on us, on security, rather than things that we need to spend it on, that''s the line that we''ve got to hit."

"We cannot allow ourselves to be intimidated by terrorism. As we have said, the United Nations stands for a core of values; about
peace, about development, about security, and we are not going to go back on this. We will continue.
Terrorism is not something that needs be given space, and we have seen the overwhelming support that we have gotten, words of encouragement that we have gotten from this very country, but from all over the world for the work that we are doing. And we have said that the attack that was done, it was not only an attack on the United Nations, this is an attack on communities, it is an attack on people who are providing a livelihood for their families, we cannot allow this.
Life cannot stop because of terrorist attacks."

STORYLINE:
United Nations (UN) Deputy Secretary-General Asha-Rose Migiro, along with Nigeria''s foreign minister and the body''s local representative, laid bouquets of red and white roses on Sunday beside a UN flag flying at half mast at the site of a suicide car bombing.
A suicide bomber rammed through two sets of gates to reach the massive UN building''s glass reception hall on Friday morning.
There, the bomber detonated explosives powerful enough to bring down parts of the concrete structure and blow out glass windows from other buildings in the quiet neighbourhood filled with diplomatic posts.
Another 81 people were wounded in the attack.
