Welcome to Top10Archvie! Though Scientology is over 60 years old, it wasn’t until the mid-2000’s that it started to garner a lot of media attention. The attention has spanned from general critiques about the belief system to downright labeling the religion as a strong cult. Regardless of personal opinion on the Church of Scientology, it’s difficult to deny that it does have a rather interesting history that was chronicled in HBO’s Going Clear documentary. Most of us are familiar with the Church of Scientology thanks to Tom Cruise jumping up and down on Oprah’s couch while declaring his love for Katie Holmes. At first glance, many people don’t take Scientology seriously, and the religion has been made the butt of several jokes. The church has been made fun of for several decades for their beliefs that seem to come straight from science fiction books. But given that their founder was a science fiction author, this makes quite a bit of sense. The church strives to help people find spiritual healing without the use of medications or drugs, believing the pharmaceutical industry is cruel and barbaric. Instead, through the use of meditation and a device called an E-meters, you can achieve spiritual healing. If you go through the appropriate training and pay the fees, you can even achieve a new level of spiritual power and awareness. Of course, that is, if you even believe in the church.
There have been numerous controversies within Scientology since its founding in the 1950’s. For one, the fact that L. Ron Hubbard started out as a science fiction writer and seemed to have turned his stories into church doctrine that other people quickly fell for. Celebrities such as John Travolta and Isaac Hayes are also well known members of the church. But should you defy them in any sort of way, then you are in for a whirlwind of trouble since the church seems to have powerful connections to make any person’s life a living hell.
The Church of Scientology is also well known for possibly brainwashing their members and enforcing a disconnection from family and friends who aren’t members. While the church declares itself to not be a cult, many people from the outside claim that these are practices of a cult. Given that church members seem to change dramatically after joining, the idea is justified.
But probably one of the most shocking parts about Scientology is the origin story for the religion. The origin really is taken straight out of fiction, but their members believe in the doctrine wholeheartedly. The alien emperor Xenu, who lived 75 million years ago, wanted to control the alien population by killing civilizations at the rate of pure genocide. But Xenu wasn’t done yet. As the souls of the deceased aliens began to manifest, he captured them and forced them to watch videos and implant false memories and religions into the souls. Once they were released, the alien souls attached themselves to human bodies. It is these confused and brainwashed alien souls that causes many of our emotional issues, according to Scientology.
These are yet but a few of the most shocking facts about Scientology. Whether you agree with the church or not, be careful where and how you express your doubt, as you may find yourself in a courtroom with representatives of the church. Leah Remini spoke for the first time in an exclusive interview with ABC News “20/20” about what her life was like inside the Church of Scientology, as well as how Tom Cruise and the backlash she faced from the Church after his 2006 wedding to Katie Holmes were factors in her breaking with the Church.
The former “King of Queens” star, who publicly severed ties with the Church in 2013, is the most high-profile celebrity to leave Scientology and go public with her criticisms. She spoke about her new memoir, “Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology,” and why she is no longer a member of the Church she served for 30 years.
“I know what my former Church-- how they deal with people who tell their story,” Remini told “. “And so I wanted to be the one to say it.”
This week, members of the Church of Scientology delivered multiple documents and emails and made numerous phone calls to ABC News containing highly critical statements about Leah Remini, calling her a liar, “self-absorbed, rude and embarrassing,” and saying she is attempting to “rewrite the truth” in order to sell her new book.

Church of Scientology
The Church of Scientology is an organization devoted to the practice, administration and dissemination of Scientology, a new religious movement. The Church of Scientology International is the Church of Scientology's parent organization, and is responsible for the overall management and dissemination of Scientology at the international level. At a local level, every church is separately incorporated and has its own board of directors and executives. The first Scientology church was incorporated in December 1953 in Camden, New Jersey by L. Ron Hubbard. Its international headquarters are located at the Gold Base, located in an unincorporated area of Riverside County, California, the location of which is kept secret from most Scientologists.
The highest authority in the Church of Scientology is The Church of Scientology International (CSI) and the Religious Technology Center (RTC), whose headquarters are in Los Angeles. CSI "is the mother church and has the mission of propagating the Scientology creed around the world." RTC's main function is to ensure that the teachings of Scientology are maintained and disseminated according to Hubbard's original work. Scientology Missions International is under CSI and RTC and functions as "the central church to Scientology missions worldwide."

Leah Remini
Leah Marie Remini (born June 15, 1970) is an American actress and comedian. She is best known for her role as Carrie Heffernan on The King of Queens (1998–2007). Remini released her memoir Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology on November 3, 2015.
Early life
Leah Remini was born in New York City, in Brooklyn, to Vicki Marshall, a schoolteacher, and George Remini, who owned an asbestos removal company. Her mother is of Austrian Jewish background and her father of Italian (Sicilian) descent. Remini has an older sister, Nicole Remini (born 1969), and four half-sisters. At the age 9, after her mother, Vicki Marshall, joined the Church of Scientology, Remini was raised a Scientologist. Remini moved to Los Angeles at the age of thirteen with her mother. Later on, she would pursue an acting career.
Television career
One of Remini's early television roles was on Who's the Boss? as Charlie Briscoe, which led to a spin-off series entitled Living Dolls, where Remini starred with Halle Berry. The show premiered in late 1989 and ran for 12 episodes before being cancelled.

Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise (born Thomas Cruise Mapother IV; July 3, 1962) is an American actor and filmmaker. Cruise has been nominated for three Academy Awards and has won three Golden Globe Awards. He started his career at age 19 in the 1981 film Endless Love. After portraying supporting roles in Taps (1981) and The Outsiders (1983), his first leading role was in the romantic comedy Risky Business, released in August 1983. At first glance, many people don’t take Scientology seriously, and the religion has been made the butt of several jokes. The church has been made fun of for several decades for their beliefs that seem to come straight from science fiction books. But given that their founder was a science fiction author, this makes quite a bit of sense. The church strives to help people find spiritual healing without the use of medications or drugs, believing the pharmaceutical industry is cruel and barbaric. Instead, through the use of meditation and a device called an E-meters, you can achieve spiritual healing. If you go through the appropriate training and pay the fees, you can even achieve a new level of spiritual power and awareness. Of course, that is, if you even believe in the church. There have been numerous controversies within Scientology since its founding in the 1950’s. For one, the fact that L. Ron Hubbard started out as a science fiction writer and seemed to have turned his stories into church doctrine that other people quickly fell for. Celebrities such as John Travolta and Isaac Hayes are also well known members of the church. But should you defy them in any sort of way, then you are in for a whirlwind of trouble since the church seems to have powerful connections to make any person’s life a living hell. The Church of Scientology is also well known for possibly brainwashing their members and enforcing a disconnection from family and friends who aren’t members. While the church declares itself to not be a cult, many people from the outside claim that these are practices of a cult. Given that church members seem to change dramatically after joining, the idea is justified. But probably one of the most shocking parts about Scientology is the origin story for the religion. The origin really is taken straight out of fiction, but their members believe in the doctrine wholeheartedly. The alien emperor Xenu, who lived 75 million years ago, wanted to control the alien population by killing civilizations at the rate of pure genocide. But Xenu wasn’t done yet. As the souls of the deceased aliens began to manifest, he captured them and forced them to watch videos and implant false memories and religions into the souls. Once they were released, the alien souls attached themselves to human bodies. It is these confused and brainwashed alien souls that causes many of our emotional issues, according to Scientology. These are yet but a few of the most shocking facts about Scientology. Whether you agree with the church or not, be careful where and how you express your doubt, as you may find yourself in a courtroom with representatives of the church. The church has been made fun of for several decades for their beliefs that seem to come straight from science fiction books. But given that their founder was a science fiction author, this makes quite a bit of sense. The church strives to help people find spiritual healing without the use of medications or drugs, believing the pharmaceutical industry is cruel and barbaric. Instead, through the use of meditation and a device called an E-meters, you can achieve spiritual healing. If you go through the appropriate training and pay the fees, you can even achieve a new level of spiritual power and awareness. Of course, that is, if you even believe in the church.
There have been numerous controversies within Scientology since its founding in the 1950’s. For one, the fact that L. Ron Hubbard started out as a science fiction writer and seemed to have turned his stories into church doctrine that other people quickly fell for. Celebrities such as John Travolta and Isaac Hayes are also well known members of the church. But should you defy them in any sort of way, then you are in for a whirlwind of trouble since the church seems to have powerful connections to make any person’s life a living hell.
The Church of Scientology is also well known for possibly brainwashing their members and enforcing a disconnection from family and friends who aren’t members. While the church declares itself to not be a cult, many people from the outside claim that these are practices of a cult. Given that church members seem to change dramatically after joining, the idea is justified.
But probably one of the most shocking parts about Scientology is the origin story for the religion. The origin really is taken straight out of fiction, but their members believe in the doctrine wholeheartedly. The alien emperor Xenu, who lived 75 million years ago, wanted to control the alien population by killing civilizations at the rate of pure genocide. But Xenu wasn’t done yet. As the souls of the deceased aliens began to manifest, he captured them and forced them to watch videos and implant false memories and religions into the souls. Once they were released, the alien souls attached themselves to human bodies. It is these confused and brainwashed alien souls that causes many of our emotional issues, according to Scientology.
These are yet but a few of the most shocking facts about Scientology. Whether you agree with the church or not, be careful where and how you express your doubt, as you may find yourself in a courtroom with representatives of the church. Despite rumors that Scientology came between them, Kidman has always insisted they still enjoy a healthy relationship, and keep in touch. But is it true? Click through to find out.
Devout Scientologist Tom Cruise and Kidman adopted Isabella in 1992 and Connor in 1995. The pair were rarely photographed with the children, hiding them from the world as they worked on their careers.
According to reports, Isabella was born to a married member of Scientology who already had two children and couldn't afford a third, so the controversial church introduced her to Cruise and Kidman. Kidman once said, "When I held Bella in my arms, that was the pregnancy, that was everything. I look into those eyes and that crazy love happens. It opens up a part of your heart you didn't even know was there." But when Kidman divorced the Top Gun star in 2001, her relationship with her children changed forever. Kidman insisted she made it a priority to "stay in touch with them," but they were not photographed together for many years.
Tom remarried Katie Holmes and had daughter Suri Cruise with her in 2006. His two older children doted on their younger sister, spending extended amounts of time with her and their dad. Bella adored Holmes so much that she even called her "Mom," according to reports.
Bella left Holmes' fashion line right before the actress filed for divorce from Cruise, but instead of turning to Kidman she moved to London for art school. There, she met boyfriend Max Parker and tied the knot with him. Kidman was actually working on a play in London at the time of her daughter's surprise wedding, but did not attend.
As for Conor, meanwhile, he's said, "I love my mum. I don't care what people say, I know that me and Mum are solid."
