Sylvia Mildred Potts ONZM (née Oxenham, 19 September 1943 – 31 August 1999) was a New Zealand middle-distance athlete who represented her country at two Commonweatlth and one Olympic Games. She memorably fell two metres from the finish of the 1500 m final at the 1970 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh while leading the race.
Born in Palmerston North in 1943, Potts was educated at Freyberg High School, where she was head girl. She then studied at the University of Otago, completing a Diploma of Physical Education in 1964. She married Allan Potts the following year. Together they had three children, including Richard Potts who represented New Zealand in athletics at the 1990 and 1994 Commonwealth Games.
Coached by Allan Potts from 1963, Sylvia Potts won six national athletics titles between 1967 and 1970: the 440 yards in 1967 and 1969; the 400 m in 1970; the 880 yards in 1969; the 800 m in 1970 and the 3 km cross country in 1970.
Susan Magdalane Boyle (born 1 April 1961) is a Scottish singer who came to international attention when she appeared as a contestant on the TV programme Britain's Got Talent on 11 April 2009, singing "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Misérables. Her first album was released in November 2009 and debuted as the number one best-selling album on charts around the globe.
Boyle's initial appearance on the talent show fired public imagination when her modest stage introduction left audience, viewers and judges alike unprepared for the power and expression of her mezzo-soprano voice. Before she had finished the song's opening phrase a standing ovation for Boyle had erupted. An international media and Internet response coincided. Within nine days of the audition, videos of Boyle—from the show, various interviews and her 1999 rendition of "Cry Me a River"—had been watched over 100 million times. She eventually finished in second place on the show behind dance troupe Diversity.
Boyle's debut album, I Dreamed a Dream (2009), instantly became the UK's best-selling debut album of all time, beating the previous record held by Spirit by Leona Lewis.I Dreamed a Dream is ranked fourth in its first week sales according to the Official Chart Company in the United Kingdom. Topping the Billboard 200 for six weeks, it was the second best-selling album of 2009 in the US. In her first year of fame, Boyle made £5 million with the release of I Dreamed a Dream and its lead-off singles, "I Dreamed a Dream" and "Wild Horses". The success was continued with her second album, The Gift (2010), where she became only the third act ever to top both the UK and US album charts twice in the same year, and was followed by Boyle's third album, Someone to Watch Over Me, released on 31 October 2011. Boyle subsequently released her fourth album "Standing Ovation: The Greatest Songs from the Stage" in 2012, her fifth album "Home for Christmas" in 2013, and her sixth album "Hope" in 2014.

Eliza McCartney clears the bar at the 2015 Allan and Sylvia Potts Classic, Hastings, Hawke's Bay, NEW ZEALAND. Views for this video went from less than 1000 to more than 4000 in the few weeks after Eliza won a bronze medal at the Rio Olympics.
At the very end of the 1500m race, Sylvia Potts fell, just 2 metres short of what looked like a certain Olympic Gold medal. How many Christians do the same?

Connect with me on Facebook: http://bit.ly/asd7QZ This video is so inspiring that I wanted to add it to my channel. This video simply proves that if you have a will, you can find a way. When this video was shot, Susan Boyle was 48 years old. She was unemployed and had never performed in front of a large crowed. Today she has a recording contract and recently was able to sing a duet with her hero. I'm posting this video as a fan of a woman that never gave up. Age is simply a number. Looks do not count. Having self-confidence is more important than what others think of you. Simply watching the crowd and the judges go from mockery to giving a standing ovation is beyond inspiring. In my opinion, you may not have a heart beat if you are not motivated to go after your goals /...
