David Christensen is an Alberta film director and producer who since October 2007 has been an executive producer with the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) at its Northwest Centre, based in Edmonton.
His directorial credits include the 2003 NFB-co-produced documentary War Hospital, co-directed with Damien Lewis, and his 2006 dramatic feature debut film, Six Figures. A documentary filmmaker until Six Figures, Christensen prepared for the project by taking a workshop on directing actors with Judith Weston.Six Figures was nominated for the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television Award for Best Screenplay at the 26th Genie Awards, and was a runner up for the best Canadian film award from the Toronto Film Critics Association.
As head of the NFB's Edmonton studio, Christensen develops films from across the province of Alberta as well as northern Canada. His producing credits at the NFB include Wiebo's War (executive producer), Vanishing Point (producer/executive producer) and We Were Children (producer/executive producer). His most recent productions include Everything Will Be, a 2014 documentary film about the fate of Vancouver's Chinatown, for which he approached Vancouver filmmaker Julia Kwan to direct her first non-fiction film.
David (/ˈdeɪvɪd/; Hebrew: דָּוִד, Modern David, Tiberian Dāwîḏ;ISO 259-3 Dawid; Arabic: داوُد Dāwūd; Syriac: ܕܘܝܕ Dawid; Ancient Greek: Δαυίδ; Latin: Davidus, David; Strong's: Daveed) was, according to the Books of Samuel, the second king of the United Kingdom of Israel, and according to the New Testament, an ancestor of Jesus. His life is conventionally dated to c. 1040 – 970 BCE, his reign over Judah c. 1010–970 BCE.
The Books of Samuel, 1 Kings, and 1 Chronicles are the only Old Testament sources of information on David, although the Tel Dan Stele (dated c. 850–835 BCE) contains the phrase בית דוד (bytdwd), read as "House of David", which many scholars confirm to be a likely plausible match to the existence in the mid-9th century BCE of a Judean royal dynasty called the House of David.
Depicted as a valorous warrior of great renown, and a poet and musician credited for composing much of the psalms contained in the Book of Psalms, King David is widely viewed as a righteous and effective king in battle and civil justice. He is described as a man after God's own heart in 1 Samuel 13:14 and Acts 13:22.

Christensen is a prominent defender of conciliationism, the view that you ought to give the same weight to the opinions of your epistemic peers as to your own opinions. Accordingly, if you believe that p is true while your peer disagrees—and if your peer has been exposed to all the same evidence as you—then you ought to give up your belief. This position has a wide range of skeptical consequences. After all, we seem to have peer disagreements about all sorts of issues: politics, philosophy, religion, and even conciliationism itself. Roy Sorensen and David Christensen discuss whether the case for conciliationism is strong enough to justify its troubling implications. This is from Philosophy TV.
