Enniskerry (historically Annaskerry, from Irish: Áth na Sceire, meaning "rugged ford") is a village in County Wicklow, Ireland. It had a population of 1,811 at the 2011 census.
The town is situated on the Glencullen River in the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains to the east of the island, just 5 minutes south of the Dublin border and some 24 km (15 mi) south of Dublin city centre. The R117 road, colloquially known as "The Twenty-One Bends" connects the town to the main N11 road to Dublin. The 185 Dublin Bus route connects the village hourly to Bray, the nearest large town. The 44 Dublin Bus route connects the village with Dublin City Centre.
The Protestant population of the village attended church in the grounds of the Powerscourt Demesne until 1859. Mervyn Wingfield, 7th Viscount Powerscourt built a new church, Saint Patrick's, in the village which was completed two years later, in 1861. This coincided with an extensive renovation programme that also established the Italian gardens at Powerscourt. The Viscount Powerscourt claimed the old church following the passage of the Disestablishment of the Irish Church Act 1869. The consequences were that only those with a right to be buried next to the old church within the Demesne could claim these rights thereafter.
County Wicklow (Irish: Contae Chill Mhantáin, [ˈkɔnˠt̪ˠeː ˈçɪl̪ʲ ˈwanˠt̪ˠaːnʲ]) is a county in Ireland. The last of the traditional 32 counties to be formed, as late as 1606, it is part of the Mid-East Region and is also located in the province of Leinster. It is named after the town of Wicklow, which derives from the Old Norse name Víkingaló, which means "Vikings' Meadow". Wicklow County Council is the local authority for the county. The population of the county is 136,640 according to the 2011 census.
Wicklow is colloquially known as the Garden of Ireland. It is the 17th largest of Ireland's 32 counties by area, being thirty-three miles in length by twenty miles in breadth, and 15th largest by population. It is the fourth largest of Leinster's 12 counties by size and the fifth largest in terms of population. Between 2006 and 2011 the population of the county grew between 5–10%
The boundaries of the county were extended in 1957 by the Local Government Act which "detached lands from the County of Dublin and from the jurisdiction and powers of the Council of the County of Dublin" near Bray and added them to the County of Wicklow. The adjoining counties are Wexford to the south, Carlow to the south-west, Kildare to the west and Dublin to the north.
Wicklow (Irish: Cill Mhantáin, meaning "church of the toothless one") is the county town of County Wicklow and the capital of the Mid-East Region in Ireland. Located south of Dublin on the east coast of the island, it has a population of 10,356 according to the 2011 census. The town is to the east of the N11 route between Dublin and Wexford. Wicklow is also linked to the rail network, with Dublin commuter services now extending to the town. Additional services connect with Arklow, Wexford and Rosslare Europort, a main ferry port. There is also a commercial port, mainly importing timber and textiles. The River Vartry is the main river which flows through the town.
Wicklow town forms a rough semicircle around Wicklow harbour. To the immediate north lies 'The Murrough', a popular grassy walking area beside the sea, and the eastern coastal strip. The Murrough is a place of growing commercial use, so much so that a road by-passing the town directly to the commercial part of the area commenced construction in 2008 and was completed in summer of 2010. The eastern coastal strip includes Wicklow bay, a crescent shaped stone beach approximately 10 km in length.

Hi Everyone! Today I'm bringing you another Irish travel vlog and this time I'm exploring my home county, Wicklow! I love getting out and about in Wicklow and going on little adventures, there's always something to do and something new to see! In this vlog I've taken you to some of my favourite places and I've ventured out to some new places for me too. I began by taking a trip out to The Happy Pear cafe in Greystones to have a bite to eat. While I was there I actually got to meet and film with the cafe owners, The Happy Pear themselves, Dave and Steve Flynn! I spent a couple of hours out in the cafe chatting with the twins and eating delicious food. Overall I had a wonderful day! As I mentioned in the vlog I can say it's probably the happiest, healthiest restaurant you'll come across her...

This is the second installment in my series of videos taken from our Wicklow Mountains trip with Over The Top Tours. In this one our guide, Denis, takes us to Glencree to visit The Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation and a German war cemetery (known as "Deutscher Soldatenfriedhof" in German). Glencree ("Gleann Crí" in Irish) is a valley in the Wicklow Mountains in eastern Ireland. It is the second closest valley in the mountains to Dublin city. The river Dargle flows down the valley, which rises to a height of about 400 metres. The foot of the valley is site of the village of Enniskerry. The German war cemetery at Glencree is a very beautiful and peaceful spot to visit. We all really enjoyed our break there. For beautiful photographic prints from the UK please see my growing Et...
You are so blind,
when you think you are prooved
against anything bad,
'cause your belief is so strong.
Where' s your saviour
for all incurable who fell sick ?
Where' s this damned god,
to which they all daily pray ?
Where' s this damned god ?
Day by day,
you' re searching for an excuse.
Day by day,
questions attack your godfearing soul:
"Is there a saviour ?
Is there something above all?
Is it existing -
this realm of immortal love ?"
The weird ways of existance -
are driving you mad !
The weird wys of existance -
are piercing your soul !
"When I am dead am I in heaven,
or am I in hell ?
Or is there nothing at all,
who is able to tell ?
The coffin, worms inside our flesh -
is that our destination ?
The rotten corpse inside a grave
led me to a hesitation !"
You are so blind,
when you think you are prooved
against anything bad,
'cause your belief is so strong.
Where' s your saviour
for all incurable who fell sick ?
Where' s this damned god,
to which they all daily pray ?
