Belle Starr is a Technicolor 1941 Drama from 20th Century Fox production, directed by Irving Cummings loosely based on the life of a real American outlaw Belle Starr. Starring Gene Tierney, Randolph Scott and Dana Andrews.
After her family's mansion is burned down by Yankee soldiers for hiding the rebel leader Captain Sam Starr (Randolph Scott) Belle Shirley (Gene Tierney) vows to take revenge. Breaking Starr out of prison, she joins his small guerrilla group for a series of raids on banks and railroads, carpetbaggers and enemy troops. Belle's bravado during the attacks earns her a reputation amongst the locals as well as the love of Starr himself. The pair get married, but their relationship starts to break down when Sam Starr lets a couple of psychotic rebels into the gang, leaving Belle to wonder if he really cares about the Southern cause.

Plot: Abused and dominated by men in her youth, Belle Starr now out-rides, out-smokes, out-shoots, and out-gambles them as she makes her way around the Old West, usually wearing male garb. One man who's her equal is Larry Blackie with whom she has an on-again, off-again relationship which is often argumentative and sometimes violent. Together they become involved in a robbery which goes awry. Belle has to rescue Larry and though he's grateful, he now wants to go his own way. However, he expresses the hope that someday they'll once more cross paths and then ... who knows?

Plot: In this one, the father of Jesse and Frank James is unjustly hanged by Union troops and their mother's arm is amputated after their home is bombed by Union people, so they go riding with Quantrill's Raiders and Cole Younger and Belle Starr. Jesse and Frank argue a lot and then Jesse marries Zerelda 'Zee' Mimms, but true-history had long flown out the window by that time. Actually, history departed before the first reel was over.

Plot: When Bob "Bitter Creek" Yauntis ('Rod Cameron' (qv))is accused by Belle Starr ('Isabel Jewell' (qv)), Queen of the outlaws of Cherokee Flats, of disobeying her orders and killing the local Marshal, he is enraged and kills her. Plot: After some gun play with a posse, the James Gang head for Quinto in a section of land which is not a part of America. Anyone there is beyond the law so the town is populated with outlaws. Next to arrive is Sheriff Rowley, following his brother whom the Gang have brought in injured. Rowley has no authority and gets on well enough with the James boys but is soon involved in other local goings-on, including a move to vote for annexation with Oklahoma which would allow the law well and truly in.

Plot: Belle Starr has just returned from prison to take over her ranch where her foreman Ringo who is rustling cattle. He is after the herd and has planted his man Twister there. When Hoppy finds the cattle stampeded by Twister, he secretly marks them hoping this will lead him to the rustlers and their buyer.
