They were produced from 1875 until 1934 and existed alongside the more traditional looking Shin-Gunto swords. All officers in the military were required to wear a sword as a badge of rank. The one offered here is in the style of the army Kyu-Gunto, for it has the more extensive grip backplate - the naval variants had typically slimmer ...

The major theatres of operations were Southern Manchuria, specifically the area around the Liaodong Peninsula and Mukden; and the seas around Korea, Japan, and the Yellow Sea. NOTE: the source that I used relates all of the dates in the Julian calendar rather than the modern Gregorian calendar. This is because Russian did not change over until after the October revolution of 1917. As a result all of the dates in this video use this calendar as well. Any discrepancy in dates compared to other sources are because of this reason. The Second Pacific Squadron was built from the Baltic Fleet to reinforce the Russian Pacific Fleet during the Russo-Japanese war in 1904-1905. This resulted in an 18,000 mile journey around the globe. I am sorry for the late upload things have been pretty hectic for me recently. Source: Pleshakov, Constantine. This is a brief documentary about the Australian photographer George Rose who visited Korea in the year 1904, an important time in the history of the North East Asian region. It was a time when Eastern and Western powers clashed for political and economic domination of the region, beginning with the Russo Japanese conflict and ending with the annexation and colonial domination of Korea by Japan which lasted until the end of the Second World War. The Korean images taken by Rose are some of the most important from the pre-colonial era, not only for their professional technical attributes but also for capturing a time and place that has long since disappeared.
