It is a popular recreation ground and most popular sports being played there are cricket and football. The ground measures 22 acres (0.089 km²) in area. PAUL HODGE: 2013 SOLO AROUND WORLD IN 24 DAYS, MUMBAI CRICKET COMPETITIONS, Ch 33, SoloAroundWorld
Chapter 33 is one of 160 Chapters of Paul Hodge's incredible "ground breaking" December, 2013 video book "2013 SOLO AROUND WORLD IN 24 DAYS, OCT 24 - NOV 18, 2013". This Chapter chronicles the afternoon of the seventh day of Paul's amazing 21 flight, 40,000+ mile, 24 day solo adventure around our planet. On Wednesday afternoon, October 30, 2013, after capturing amazing videos of Mumbai's Crawford Market, Southern Mumbai's largest and most popular market, this video focuses on highlights of cricket competitions at Mumbai's very popular Oval Maidan Park which is a vast expanse of land/park in the middle of Southern Mumbai. The term "Maidan" means "playing ground" in the Marathi language. In addition to being the first ever video book published on YouTube with 160 chapters and 15+ hours of edited, original video taken by Paul Hodge from all over the world during his incredible October/November 2013 Solo Around the World Adventure, Paul's video book is Paul's second on YouTube to provide in-depth coverage and instruction on how to go solo around the world. By providing viewers with such incredibly detailed videos and fresh commentaries, author Paul Hodge shows what it realistically takes to plan and successfully execute this life changing "bucket list" achievement. For a summary of the adventure's highlights, please see Paul's November 2013 Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBGJnS9-fLg. Paul is one of the few people in this World to have explored and adventured around our planet four times in the last five years!! Paul's third 47 day solo "around the world adventure" was in June, 2012 (See Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RR6iXID_Asc ). His second 24 day solo quest ended November, 2011 (See Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irJ4Wn13SZo ) and his first world exploration was for 7+ months ending July 2008 (See Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjo8niCfHmE) Incredibly, after returning from Rio de Janeiro in February, 2013, Paul published another "ground breaking" 84 chapter video book "2013 Rio Carnival" which provided singular in depth coverage of Rio's "world famous" 2013 Rio Carnival celebrations. (See Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/edit?video_id=rZFiaDLIs1M&video;_referrer=watch ) Paul's October/November 2013 Solo Around the World Adventure was fantastic because Paul covered seldom viewed events/sites, to mention a few: the Rugby World Cup Championship competitions in Cardiff Wales, London's Comic Con, an NFL football game in London's Wembley Stadium, one of the largest world slums in Dharavi Mumbai, India, a Ganges River exploration in India's spiritual capital Varanasi, a meeting with India's former President, Xi'an China's amazing Terracotta Warriors, Macau China's casinos, the fastest train in the world in China, Australia's world famous Bondi Beach and Sydney Opera House/Harbour, exotic Tahiti, fabled Easter Island and amazing Rio de Janeiro which is preparing for the 2014 Rio Carnival and the 2014 Football World Cup Competitions. In addition to the foregoing, Paul explored many other exciting seldom seen events and sites throughout the World. Paul's December, 2013 video book: "2013 SOLO AROUND WORLD IN 24 DAYS, OCT 24 - NOV 18, 2013", is Paul's fourth to chronicle his solo adventures around our planet. The book is intended to instruct viewers on how to go around the world solo. By providing the viewer with detailed videos and commentary of his recent October/November, 2013 World adventure, author Paul Hodge shows what it realistically takes to plan and successfully execute this life changing "bucket list" achievement.- published: 21 Dec 2013

Chapter 35 is one of 160 Chapters of Paul Hodge's incredible "ground breaking" December, 2013 video book "2013 SOLO AROUND WORLD IN 24 DAYS, OCT 24 - NOV 18, 2013". This Chapter chronicles the afternoon of the seventh day of Paul's amazing 21 flight, 40,000+ mile, 24 day solo adventure around our planet. On Wednesday afternoon, October 30, 2013, after capturing great videos of Mumbai's largest market, cricket competitions at Mumbai's Oval Maidan Park and Mumbai's/ world's largest "open air laundry, Paul went on to visit "The Gateway of India", Mumbai's most popular tourist attraction. The Gateway of India is a monument built during the British Raj in Mumbai. It was built to commemorate the visit of King George V to Mumbai in December 1911. The main reason for this monument's great popularity with India's people is because the last British troops to leave India following the country's independence passed under this gateway on their way out of the country in a ceremony commemorating the end of British rule. In 2008, the Gateway was the disembarkation point of the terrorists who attacked the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel which is across the street. Chapter 34 is one of 160 Chapters of Paul Hodge's incredible "ground breaking" December, 2013 video book "2013 SOLO AROUND WORLD IN 24 DAYS, OCT 24 - NOV 18, 2013". This Chapter chronicles the afternoon of the seventh day of Paul's amazing 21 flight, 40,000+ mile, 24 day solo adventure around our planet. On Wednesday afternoon, October 30, 2013, after capturing great videos of Mumbai's largest market and cricket competitions at Mumbai's Oval Maidan Park, Paul went on to inspect the world's largest open air laundry called Dhobi Ghat. This facility washes a mountain of laundry every day from all over Mumbai including clothes, towels, sheets from hotels/hospitals. The video shows the laundry's operations including its many outdoor concrete wash pens with flogging stones and the massive drying lines. The video also shows the washers bathing themselves to cool off after a hard days work in the hot sun.
