The first arrested carrier-landing and take-off, onboard the Chinese Aircraft-Carrier CV16 "Liaoning" of a J-15 Flying Shark naval multirole fighter jet.
Admiral Liu Huaqing, the "father of the modern chinese navy", who swore to die with his eyes open if China continues to be the last major power without an aircraft-carrier, may finally rest in peace.
With this mile-stone accomplished faster than foreign observers, experts and analysts ever predicted, China is striding quickly on the still long and hard road to become a modern carrier navy.

The vessel "LIAONING" with the pennant number "16", Chinas first aircraft carrier and formerly known as the Ex-Varyag, sets sail for its 11th sea-trial, which is its first proper navy trial after being handed over to the Chinese navy.
The CV-16 LIAONING already has absolved a number of critical tests and trials in the recent months, and should now be ready to reach initial operational capability soon.
Skid-marks on deck as well as rumours indicates that first touch-and-go tests of naval aircrafts, like the J-15 "Flying Shark" carrier fighter, or the JL-9 carrier trainer, were already successfully initiated during the last few sea trials, possibly enabling the PLAN to get the CV-16 into combat service sooner than previously expected.
The next few month will be very interesting to follow, since the CV-16 will now go through the most critical period of its trial-phase.

We were so excited to visit northeast China for the first time! We flew into Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province, from Shanghai on a direct Spring Air flight. Instead of taking a taxi into the city, we opted to try public transportation. The urban tram to BaiTaHeLu Station cost just 2 RMB per person, but it was extremely slow. From there we had to walk about five minutes to the subway station of the same name. Shenyang has just two subway lines, so it's very easy system to navigate. We had to transfer once before arriving at our final destination, Shenyang Station. It took almost 1 hour and 30 minutes to get from the airport to Shenyang Station. Because the cost of living is relatively low, taxi meters start at just 8 RMB and public transport is slow, we would opt for a taxi the next time around.
We spent the day exploring downtown Shenyang on foot. We were fascinated by ZhongShan Square the home of an enormous Chairman Mao statue. We especially loved seeing the statue at night when so many different groups gathered in the square for aerobics, dancing, break dancing, badminton, and biking.
Another point of interest is TaiYuan, the underground shopping streets that run between ZhongShan Square and Shenyang Station. It's recently undergone major renovations that weren't completely done by the time we visited. But we think it'll be an awesome food and shopping destination once it's 100% finished. For anyone looking to get a manicure or pedicure, Glo recommends TaiYuan where she got a gel manicure for just 30 RMB!
For dinner we had Korean BBQ in XiTa, which is a Koreatown filled with Korean restaurants and shops. Given Shenyang's proximity to North Korea, the city and province as a whole have a reputation for excellent Korean food. We were not disappointed! This was definitely the best Korean food we've so far had in China! And it cost just 120 RMB for the entire dinner!
Lastly, we stayed at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Zhongshan location. The room was comfortable, and the staff were helpful and spoke a bit of English. It's within walking distance of Shenyang Station, but it's a long walk (about 20 minutes).

Awalnya ditetapkan sebagai nama Admiral Kuznetsov kemudian berganti nama menjadi Riga untuk Angkatan Laut Soviet, ia diluncurkan pada tanggal 4 Desember 1988 dan berganti nama lagi menjadi Varyag pada tahun 1990. Kapal induk ini diluncurkan pada tahun 1988 dan pembangunan terhenti setelah runtunya Uni Soviet.

Time to go back to Shenyang! Our day started in Panjin where we stayed the night after visiting Red Seabeach the previous day. We took the bus from Panjing to Shenyang, which cost 50 RMB per person and took about 2.5 hours.
Back in Shenyang we couldn't resist the opportunity to return to XiTa, the city's Koreatown, for lunch. We went for scrumptious "gamjatang" (감자탕), or pork bone soup. After lunch we went for a walk in the neighborhood, exploring the alleyways and even popping into a couple Korean shops. It was great to see the area during the day!
We next took a taxi to the palace in Shenyang. It's similar in style to the Forbidden City in Beijing but much smaller in scale. We spent about two hours there and felt like we'd explored every nook and cranny.
Afterwards we wandered around the streets surrounding the palace and came across ZhongJie, which is a new, extremely popular shopping district. There is great people watching to be had there!

Liaoning
Liaoning (Chinese: 辽宁; pinyin: 
Liáoníng ) is a province of the People's Republic of China, located in the northeast of the country. The modern province was established in 1907 as Fengtian or Fengtien province and the name was changed to Liaoning in 1929. It was also known as Mukden province at the time, for the Manchu pronunciation of Shengjing, the former name of the provincial capital Shenyang. Under the Japanese-puppet Manchukuo regime, the province reverted to its 1907 name but the name Liaoning was restored in 1945 and again in 1954.
Liaoning is the southernmost part of Manchuria, the Chinese Northeast. It is also known in Chinese as "the Golden Triangle" from its shape and strategic location, with the Yellow Sea (Korea Bay and Bohai Sea) in the south, North Korea's North Pyongan and Chagang provinces in the southeast, Jilin to the northeast, Hebei to the southwest, and Inner Mongolia to the northwest. The Yalu River marks its border with North Korea, emptying into the Korea Bay between Dandong in Liaoning and Sinuiju in North Korea.

The vessel "LIAONING" with the pennant number "16", Chinas first aircraft carrier and formerly known as the Ex-Varyag, sets sail for its 11th sea-trial, which is its first proper navy trial after being handed over to the Chinese navy.
The CV-16 LIAONING already has absolved a number of critical tests and trials in the recent months, and should now be ready to reach initial operational capability soon.
Skid-marks on deck as well as rumours indicates that first touch-and-go tests of naval aircrafts, like the J-15 "Flying Shark" carrier fighter, or the JL-9 carrier trainer, were already successfully initiated during the last few sea trials, possibly enabling the PLAN to get the CV-16 into combat service sooner than previously expected.
The next few month will be very interesting to follow, since the CV-16 will now go through the most critical period of its trial-phase.

We were so excited to visit northeast China for the first time! We flew into Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province, from Shanghai on a direct Spring Air flight. Instead of taking a taxi into the city, we opted to try public transportation. The urban tram to BaiTaHeLu Station cost just 2 RMB per person, but it was extremely slow. From there we had to walk about five minutes to the subway station of the same name. Shenyang has just two subway lines, so it's very easy system to navigate. We had to transfer once before arriving at our final destination, Shenyang Station. It took almost 1 hour and 30 minutes to get from the airport to Shenyang Station. Because the cost of living is relatively low, taxi meters start at just 8 RMB and public transport is slow, we would opt for a taxi the next time around.
We spent the day exploring downtown Shenyang on foot. We were fascinated by ZhongShan Square the home of an enormous Chairman Mao statue. We especially loved seeing the statue at night when so many different groups gathered in the square for aerobics, dancing, break dancing, badminton, and biking.
Another point of interest is TaiYuan, the underground shopping streets that run between ZhongShan Square and Shenyang Station. It's recently undergone major renovations that weren't completely done by the time we visited. But we think it'll be an awesome food and shopping destination once it's 100% finished. For anyone looking to get a manicure or pedicure, Glo recommends TaiYuan where she got a gel manicure for just 30 RMB!
For dinner we had Korean BBQ in XiTa, which is a Koreatown filled with Korean restaurants and shops. Given Shenyang's proximity to North Korea, the city and province as a whole have a reputation for excellent Korean food. We were not disappointed! This was definitely the best Korean food we've so far had in China! And it cost just 120 RMB for the entire dinner!
Lastly, we stayed at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Zhongshan location. The room was comfortable, and the staff were helpful and spoke a bit of English. It's within walking distance of Shenyang Station, but it's a long walk (about 20 minutes).

Awalnya ditetapkan sebagai nama Admiral Kuznetsov kemudian berganti nama menjadi Riga untuk Angkatan Laut Soviet, ia diluncurkan pada tanggal 4 Desember 1988 dan berganti nama lagi menjadi Varyag pada tahun 1990. Kapal induk ini diluncurkan pada tahun 1988 dan pembangunan terhenti setelah runtunya Uni Soviet.
Rusia menyerahkan semua plan dan pembangunan kapal ini ke Ukraina. Akhirnya Varyag selesai 70%, namun pemerintah Ukraina tidak memiliki dana dan alasan untuk menyelesaikan pembangunan kapal induk ini. Kemudian kapal induk ini dibeli pada tahun 1998 oleh Republik Rakyat Cina dan ditarik ke Dalian Shipyard di utara timur China. Setelah benar-benar dibangun kembali dan menjalani uji coba laut, kapal ditugaskan ke angkatan laut China sebagai Liaoning pada tanggal 25 September 2012.

Time to go back to Shenyang! Our day started in Panjin where we stayed the night after visiting Red Seabeach the previous day. We took the bus from Panjing to Shenyang, which cost 50 RMB per person and took about 2.5 hours.
Back in Shenyang we couldn't resist the opportunity to return to XiTa, the city's Koreatown, for lunch. We went for scrumptious "gamjatang" (감자탕), or pork bone soup. After lunch we went for a walk in the neighborhood, exploring the alleyways and even popping into a couple Korean shops. It was great to see the area during the day!
We next took a taxi to the palace in Shenyang. It's similar in style to the Forbidden City in Beijing but much smaller in scale. We spent about two hours there and felt like we'd explored every nook and cranny.
Afterwards we wandered around the streets surrounding the palace and came across ZhongJie, which is a new, extremely popular shopping district. There is great people watching to be had there!

I recently had the wonderful opportunity of speaking as a guest Author/Professor to a room full of young Chinese adults at Liaoning University in Shenyang, China. The students you will see in this video are involved in many different disciples of study that are offered at the university, from Journalism, Economics, Engineering and Law, and they wanted to learn how to communicate in English internationally. I was invited to speak to them by a private language school who is planning to start an intensive program to take the English they already know and to teach them how to use it to communicate internationally.
My videos are to educate my viewers about the world we live in through my travels and my book trailers. I recently had the wonderful opportunity of speaking as a guest Author/Professor to a room full of young Chinese adults at Liaoning University in Shenyang, China. Liaoning University is listed as one of China's most prestigious and largest schools. It has a lovely spacious campus and over 18,000 students and over 1,100 teachers.
The students you will see in this video are involved in many different disciples of study that are offered at the university, from Journalism, Economics, Engineering and Law, and they wanted to learn how to communicate in English internationally. I was invited to speak to them by a private language school who is planning to start an intensive program to take the English they already know and to teach them how to use it to communicate internationally.
My videos are to educate my viewers about the world we live in through my travels and my book trailers. I love to travel and experience culture, and i love to point out the positive and not so positive forces at work in the world at large. On January 15, 2011 Vitas took part in the shooting of Liaoning TV Spring Festival Gala. He sang two songs: "Lucia di Lammermoor" and the well-known Russian song "Katyusha" in duet with Russian female folk singer Svetlana.
In this interview VItas says: "I remember you and I am very glad to see you again. I always return to China as if I return home. Today's performance is one of the most remarkable things in my life. I admire China, Chinese fans, Chinese audience. Chinese culture, philosophy and cuisine are very close to my heart. I want to tell you: you are my dear people. The last year was memorable for me because of shooting in the Chinese film "Founding the Party -- the Glory of the Moment" in which I played the role of Voitinsky, a great Russian revolutionary. Next year I am planning a grand tour around the globe: China, Japan, America, Israel, Australia, Canada. I have prepared plenty of surprises: first of all, new songs in Chinese. I hope we will meet in 2011 and you will hear everything with your own ears. My China tours are a very important thing for me, I am preparing a new program, two new albums and I hope that in 2011 we will meet again at my solo concerts in China. I have performed songs "Tibetan Plateau" (which is one of my favourite songs in Chinese) and "Katyusha" in a duet with the prominent, very beautiful and charming, talented singer Tang Can. This year I will be singing "Katyusha" with great pleasure in a duet with Russian singer Svetlana.
I remember every detail of my trips to my favourite People's Republic of China. Happy New Year! ".

Your country is wonderful, I am already in love with China. Vitas is very popular in Russia, as you know, he has a huge popularity. Perhaps you would like to know why it happened so. It seems to me I know the answer. Vitas has a unique voice, I am saying it as a singer. His voice is of a unique timbre and a very wide range. But it is not enough to become popular. He sings with his soul, with his heart and the audience feels it. If a person is open-hearted and beautiful inside, he will always be wonderful. If a person lacks such qualities, everyone in the audience will feel it because you can't lie on stage. Since VItas sings with his heart and soul, you all feel this and know as much about him as I do. He is a wonderful person!"
VITAS as a singer and songwriter has been known on Russian stage since 2000. Today Vitas is an artist who has gained popularity outside of Russia as well. His performances took place in the most prestigious and greatest halls.
