The Southern Ridges (is a 9-kilometre (5.6 mi) trail that connects parks along the southern ridge of Singapore. Some of the attractions along this trail include its greenery and the connecting bridges. This project linked up the parks between the Kent Ridge Park and HarbourFront. The idea to link these parks was coined in 2002 by Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and it took 2 years to complete and cost S$25.5 million.
There are 3 parks that are connected to each other: Mount Faber, Telok Blangah Hill Park and the Kent Ridge Park.
Mount Faber Park is one of the oldest parks in Singapore and a popular tourist destination. The park is connected to Telok Blangah Hill Park by Henderson Waves bridge. The park consists of such locations as the Marina Deck, Palm Plaza, Jewel Box, and Faber Point.
It is a 34-hectare park which is a popular place for wedding couples. A series of semi-circular terrace garden located at the top of the park is the Terrace Garden - the main feature of this park.
The Southern Ridges are a 10km group of green spaces in Singapore spanning the hills of Mount Faber Park, Telok Blangah Hill Park, HortPark, Labrador Nature Reserve and Kent Ridge Park. It is an area rich in history and is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna.
Steeped in history and one of the best spots in Singapore to enjoy panoramic views of the city, harbour and the Southern Islands, the Southern Ridges is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna.
Henderson Waves, a structure not to be missed, connects Mount Faber Park to Telok Blangah Hill Park. Standing 36 metres above Henderson Road, it is the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore, and is frequently visited for its artistic, distinctive wave-like structure consisting of a series of undulating curved 'ribs'. Other highlights of the Southern Ridges include the Forest Walk and Canopy Walk – bridges cutting through the Adinandra Belukar, a distinct type of secondary forest. Here, you can see a rich variety of flora and fauna and observe birds in their natural habitat. Walk on the Ridges and capture the beauty of wild flowers and birds. Explore Berlayer Creek at the newly launched Labrador Nature and Coastal Walk, which is home to myriad flora and fauna, another great getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life.
The name Southern may refer to:
Mount Faber is a hill about 105 metres (344 ft.) in height in Singapore, located near the Bukit Merah planning area in the Central Region. It overlooks the Telok Blangah area, and the western parts of the Central Area. The summit is accessible by Mount Faber Road or Mount Faber Loop via Morse Road, but there are many footpaths or trails leading up the hill. The main paths are: Marang Trail which leads from Marang Road at the Harbourfront MRT station (Exit D) and the Southern Ridges Park Connector which connects you from Telok Blangah Hill Park, Kent Ridge Park and Henderson Waves.
It is a frequent tourist destination, as it provides a panoramic view of the increasingly dense central business district within the Central Area. Its slope includes a tower that is part of the Singapore cable car system that connects to HarbourFront and Sentosa. It is accessible from the HarbourFront MRT Station.
Mount Faber was known as Telok Blangah Hill but was later renamed after Captain Charles Edward Faber of the Madras Engineers, the superintending engineer in the Straits and Governor Butterworth's brother-in-law, who arrived in Singapore in September 1844. Faber cut through the thick undergrowth, allowing the road to the top of the hill to be built. The original winding road was referred to in the press at that time as a "stupidly narrow road".
Telok Blangah is a housing estate in Singapore to the south-west of the Central Business District in the southernmost part of the island. It is part of the Bukit Merah Planning Area, an urban planning zone under the Urban Redevelopment Authority.
Telok Blangah in (Jawi: تلوق بلڠه) Malay means "cooking pot bay", and covers the area behind Keppel Harbour. Blanga is a cooking pot made of clay used by the southern Indians. The district name is derived from this cooking pot shape of the bay. Teluk Blanga is the district between Pasir Panjang and Tanjong Pagar.
Teluk Blanga is known as sit lat mng in Hokkien, meaning "Singapore gate" or "north west gate".
John Turnbull Thomson did an 1849 painting from Pulau Brani entitled "Telloh Blangah", which shows the area of the Temenggong's village (now the Johor Sultan's mosque and burial area) at the foot of Mount Faber (formerly Telok Blangah Hill).
Telok Blangah Hill was renamed Mount Faber in 1845. Historically, this area is as old as the thirteenth century city of Temasek. According to the Malay Annals, Sang Nila Utama's boat ran into a storm and he threw everything overboard, including his crown before landing just off Telok Blangah beach.

The Southern Ridges Walk is a nine-kilometer stroll across the hills of southern Singapore. Singapore is one of the world's most densely populated countries, but after a slow start the country has recently put much effort into preserving the bits of greenery that remain, and the Southern Ridges are perhaps the most impressive result. The idea to link these parks were coined in 2002 by Urban Redevelopment Authority and it took 2 years to complete. The trail consists of parks stretching across the western half of Singapore, with impressive bridges allowing pedestrians to cross busy highways. Several parts of the trail are suspended high above the jungle, offering great views of the often surreal contrast between Singapore's ultra-modern buildings and the primeval greenery around the trail....

So there was this one fine Sunday morning where I went on a hike-walk trail with a bunch of friends, without sleeping till late like almost everyone else. As usual along the way I took out my phone, and captured every single beautiful scenery I could. ;) We started from Marang Trail towards Henderson Waves and through Southern Ridges trail we diverted to the KTM Green Corridor Trail... Along the way we encountered some gorgeous sceneries, so here goes the movie I produced with the awesome stuff I captured during this Sunday walk. :) A Sunday Walk through Southern Ridges to KTM Green Corridor Trail, Singapore Enjoy! Apologies for any video quality issues or camera angle issues, as this was recorded by my tiny Xperia Z3 Compact phone.. ;) Cheers! 28 / February / 2016 - Udara Abhilash Al...
