Recently Athabasca Uranium (UAX.V or ATURF) engaged the uranium exploration geophysical team at the University of Saskatchewan (USASK) which is led by Dr. Zoltan Hajnal who is a leading expert in the use of seismic to find uranium.
Dr. Hajnal played a key role in the discovery of Hathor's Roughrider Deposit and Cameco's McArthur River Mine, the largest high grade uranium mine in the world. Dr. Hajnal sees similarities in the seismic data at Athabasca Uranium's Keefe Lake Project to major uranium discoveries like McArthur River and Shea Creek.
In the recent UAX press release, Dr. Hajnal commented, "Several of the seismic profiles at Keefe Lake show anomalous basement structures, comparable to features of known prominent mineral deposits such as McArthur River and Shea Creek."
This is a major vote of confidence for the early stage Athabasca Uranium to attract the attention of a team of seismic experts who have helped discover the major Athabasca Deposits such as McArthur River, Shea Creek, Key and Moore Lakes and the Hathor's Roughrider Deposit.
President and CEO Gil Schneider of Athabasca Uranium said, "Our Keefe Lake dataset apparently bears an uncanny resemblance to that of MacArthur River - and with arguably the foremost experts in uranium discovery now interested in it, we're excited for our future. Dr. Hajnal will hopefully help prove our Keefe Lake theories out, and launch Athabasca Uranium to becoming a world-class uranium company."

Warren is the biggest shareholder in NexGen, a major uranium producer and discusses the likely growth in demand going forward particularly in China where they are constructing many new nuclear power plants. New uranium mines will need to be built to meet this growing demand creating upward price pressure. NexGen has recently made a big new discovery with its Arrow deposit, this is the best undeveloped deposit in the world. The stock should be trading at multiples above where it is now based on the value of this deposit alone.
There is often a big lag between when a company makes a big new discovery and the reaction with the share price and the biggest lags usually come with the biggest discoveries.
The Athabasca basin is the richest area for uranium in the world, Warren discusses the relative merits of Investing in NexGen vs Fission Uranium based on the nature of their respective deposits and the best mining techniques. Uranium Investing News recently had the chance to speak with Chad Ulansky, CEO of Northern Uranium (TSXV:UNO), a new company whose focus is on discovering a world-class uranium deposit at its Northwest Manitoba project.
In this interview, Ulanksy begins by stating, we "consider ourselves to be an Athabasca [Basin] company." Explaining further, he notes, "the Athabasca Basin used to be much larger than its current extent," but is now "no longer as large as it once was due to glaciation." That's significant for his company in part because the mineralization at the project "is now exposed at surface because [it] occurs very close to the border between the sandstone and the basement rocks." That makes it "cheaper to explore for."
Ulansky also touches on the team behind Northern Uranium, which includes famed Canadian diamond explorer Chuck Fipke, and explains why the company is on the hunt for uranium at a time when prices for the commodity are less than desirable.
In closing, Ulansky discusses what the company is doing at the moment and what investors can expect to see from Northern Uranium in the future.

The Athabasca Basin is attracting capital that is looking for 10-20 fold increases. The key to invest in early stage exploration is to find the right people. Look for the best personnel who have proven track records of success in this area with this commodity.
Jody was instrumental in the discovery of Fission's J-Zone Discovery which was bought by Denison and the Patterson Lake Properties where Fission and Alpha have made a massive discovery.
Jody is now the exploration manager for Lakeland Resources (LK.V).
The share structure may be one of the best in the Athabasca Basin with close to 30 million shares outstanding. Close to 40% is owned by management and institutions. There is a very small float for retail investors.
When everyone was looking at the Eastern part of the Basin, Jody suggested to look west which was underexplored and Patterson Lake was discovered. Now Jody is telling Lakeland to go to the northern part of the basin for the next major discovery as this area has been totally neglected by explorers.
Listening to Jody as he has made some great calls in the past, Lakeland has acquired a large land package across the Northern part of the Basin. Lakeland just announced that exploration is active on the Riou Lake Uranium Property located in the Northern Part of the Basin. They are doing the initial work for a winter drilling program in the first quarter of 2014.
Lakeland believes there will be strong news flow over the coming several months that could build significant value in this early stage situation. Although this is early-stage and ground floor, this company has the people, the properties and the share structure to potentially create a lot of wealth for uranium investors.

This article is about the uranium mining region near Lake Athabasca. Not to be confused with the drainage basin of the Athabasca River.
The Athabasca Basin is a region of Northern Saskatchewan and Alberta Canada that is best known as the world's leading source of high grade uranium. It currently supplies about 20% of the world's uranium.
The basin is located just to the south of Lake Athabasca. The basin covers about 100,000 square kilometres in Saskatchewan and a small portion of Alberta. The surface of the basin consists of main sandstone sediment varying from 100 to 1000 metres in depth. The uranium is mostly found at the base of this sandstone, at the point where it meets the basement.
Uranium was discovered in the region in the 1940s. The first mine in the area was the Rabbit Lake Mine, which was discovered in 1968 by Gulf Mineral Resources and opened in 1975. The most important current mine is Cameco's McArthur River mine, the world's largest high-grade uranium mine. For several decades the price of uranium has been quite low, and there was little activity in the Basin.[citation needed] Since 2003, however, the price of uranium has increased considerably and the Basin is once again a focus of attention. Much of the best regions are controlled by Cameco, though smaller firms have in recent years found deposits in areas that had previously been overlooked.[citation needed]

Earlier this week, we spoke with David Miller, CEO of Delcan Resources. David Miller is an expert on the uranium space, and is responsible for the successes of both Strathmore Minerals and Fission Energy. David has been featured and heard on The New York Times, BBC, CNBC, CNN, Business News Network, Wall Street Journal, The Globe and Mail, and Barron's. David discusses how he first entered the nuclear space in the late 1970s, at a time when uranium was a hot commodity. He has worked in the sector ever since and is considered to be a foremost expert on uranium. In 2000, David decided to start Strathmore Minerals, where he developed a two prong approach. This included getting big in the United States by acquiring the known deposits that had been mined historically. The second prong was getting big in the Athabasca Basin, the highest grade uranium district in the world. David notes that the short term pricing for uranium has little to no meaning right now. He points out that the expiration of the Russian HUI agreement in 2013 has set the world up for a major shortage of uranium. If Fukushima had not occurred in 2011, David believes that the spot price would be close to $100 a pound right now. With pressure from the industry in Japan to get nuclear power turned back on, David believes that a catalyst is in place that will move the spot price back up. This time around, David explains why he has decided to focus his attention on the Athabasca Basin. His predominant reason is the grades, which are two orders of magnitude greater than anywhere else in the world. Finally, David touches on the team that he has assembled for Declan Resources, which include Wayne Tisdale, Dr. Hikmet Akin, and many other top experts in the field. Mr. Miller is the former chief executive officer of Strathmore Minerals Corp. and was instrumental in its ultimate sale to Energy Fuels Inc. in 2013. Mr. Miller's primary professional focus has been on uranium exploration, development and mining, with his career spanning over 20 years with a chain of companies that started with Utah International and evolved into Areva, the French nuclear power conglomerate. In addition, he has consulted extensively for the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Commission) in Austria and China. When everyone was looking at the Eastern part of the Basin, Jody suggested to look west which was underexplored and Patterson Lake was discovered. Now Jody is telling Lakeland to go to the northern part of the basin for the next major discovery as this area has been totally neglected by explorers.
Listening to Jody as he has made some great calls in the past, Lakeland has acquired a large land package across the Northern part of the Basin. Lakeland just announced that exploration is active on the Riou Lake Uranium Property located in the Northern Part of the Basin. They are doing the initial work for a winter drilling program in the first quarter of 2014.
Lakeland believes there will be strong news flow over the coming several months that could build significant value in this early stage situation. Although this is early-stage and ground floor, this company has the people, the properties and the share structure to potentially create a lot of wealth for uranium investors.

Earlier this week, we spoke with David Miller, CEO of Delcan Resources. David Miller is an expert on the uranium space, and is responsible for the successes of both Strathmore Minerals and Fission Energy. David has been featured and heard on The New York Times, BBC, CNBC, CNN, Business News Network, Wall Street Journal, The Globe and Mail, and Barron's.
David discusses how he first entered the nuclear space in the late 1970s, at a time when uranium was a hot commodity. He has worked in the sector ever since and is considered to be a foremost expert on uranium.
In 2000, David decided to start Strathmore Minerals, where he developed a two prong approach. This included getting big in the United States by acquiring the known deposits that had been mined historically. The second prong was getting big in the Athabasca Basin, the highest grade uranium district in the world.
David notes that the short term pricing for uranium has little to no meaning right now. He points out that the expiration of the Russian HUI agreement in 2013 has set the world up for a major shortage of uranium. If Fukushima had not occurred in 2011, David believes that the spot price would be close to $100 a pound right now. With pressure from the industry in Japan to get nuclear power turned back on, David believes that a catalyst is in place that will move the spot price back up.
This time around, David explains why he has decided to focus his attention on the Athabasca Basin. His predominant reason is the grades, which are two orders of magnitude greater than anywhere else in the world.
Finally, David touches on the team that he has assembled for Declan Resources, which include Wayne Tisdale, Dr. Hikmet Akin, and many other top experts in the field.

India and Russia are building nuclear power plants. Even oil rich countries like United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia are investing in nuclear to reduce their dependence on fossil fuels. Australia and Greenland have recently lifted bans on uranium mining. Volumes moving into uranium stocks are rising and last week, Cameco shocked markets by posting a profit, even with uranium at 8 year lows. M&A; in the uranium sector has been exceptional over the past year, particularly in the Athabasca Basin.
Jeb points to some key catalysts coming down the pike, such as the ending of the Russian HEU megatons to megawatts program ending in 2014. Uranium is already in a shortfall. Jeb acknowledges that there has been some excess supply coming from Japan and Germany, but that is coming to an end. This all points to a major supply shortfall in the near term.
What does this all mean? The next few years could be huge for uranium investors. There are a lot of fundamentals in place that could mirror the 2007 run up, which spells exponential gains for uranium investors.

Take the longest and highest guided aerial tramway in Canada and get ready for an astonishing view of six mountain ranges, with the Athabasca River and the town of Jasper nestled at your feet.
Columbia Icefield Glacier Experience
An hour and a half south of Jasper, explore the Athabasca Glacier, part of the colossal Columbia Icefield. At the Glacier Discovery Centre, board a massive Ice Explorer bus with giant rubber wheels and ride right up onto the glacier.
Glacier Skywalk
A five minute bus ride from the Glacier Discovery Centre is one truly remarkable viewing opportunity. Glacier Skywalk is a feat of engineering cantilevered out over the Sunwapta Valley. The fully accessible cliff-edge walkway leads to a glass floored observation platform 280 m (918 ft) above the valley floor.
Maligne Canyon
Ten minutes northeast of Jasper, Maligne Canyon is one of the most spectacular gorges in the Rockies, plunging to depths of over 50 m (165 ft). Come back in winter and do the famed ice walk.
Marmot Basin
Celebrating its 50th birthday in 2014, Marmot Basin is home to some of the most breathtaking and unspoiled views anywhere in the Canadian Rockies. Ski Canada’s highest base elevation at 1,697 m (5,568 ft) on terrain suitable for novices to experts.
Miette Hot Springs
Inside the park in the wild Fiddle Valley about an hour northeast of Jasper is Miette Hot Springs. These are the hottest mineral springs in the Rockies, cooled to a comfortable temperature of 40°C (104°F) as they enter the hot springs pool. After a good soak, take the short walk to the source of the springs.
Maligne Lake
Just 44 km (27 mi) south of Jasper, take a boat tour on Maligne Lake to Spirit Island and see why it’s one of the most photographed spots on the planet. The lake is accessible by motor vehicle, including shuttle buses from Jasper.

Join us on a soothing photographic slide show journey through the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Alberta and British Columbia, Canada in May, 2001. We will start just outside of Calgary at the Olympic Village, home of the 1988 Winter Olympics and then travel into Banff National Park to see Lake Louise. We were surprised to see the emerald blue/green lake was still locked in winters grip. Do you see our reflections in the reflecting ball?
In Banff we stopped to take pictures at the Banff National Park administration building and the Banff Springs Hotel. A seven minute ride on the gondola took us to the top of Sulphur Mountain for the most spectacular views and photo opportunities in Banff National Park. Back off the mountain we toured the Cave and Basin National Historic Site, the birthplace of Canada's National Park system, which began here in 1885.
As we travelled north on the Ice Fields Parkway we drove past Bow Lake and the Num-Ti-Jah Lodge stopping for the evening at the Glacier View Inn. Our corner room overlooked the glacier and the beautiful late winter surroundings. The next day we were off to the Athabasca Glacier on a snow coach tour to the upper reaches of the glacier just below the Columbia Ice Field. These coaches were made specifically for this glacier. As a matter of fact, the diesel engines in the snow coaches are the same model that powers generators for the Glacier View Inn since power lines have not reached this remote stretch of the park, if ever!
As the glaciers melt, their waters cut their way to the oceans creating dynamic scenery such as Athabasca Falls. The water is laden with fine powder called rock flour and the water carries this milky, abrasive substance downstream into lakes creating stunning beauty such Emerald Lake where we took a leisurely canoe ride.
