Lagan Valley is an area of Northern Ireland between Belfast and Lisburn. The Lagan is a famous river that flows into Belfast Lough. For a section, the river forms part of the border between the counties of Antrim and Down.
It has a number of interesting features including a towpath which runs alongside the River Lagan. The towpath is popular with walkers, runners, cyclists, dog owners etc. It is a very scenic and peaceful area and is ideal for walking, cycling etc. The towpath begins in the Stranmillis area of south Belfast and runs all the way to Lisburn. The cycle route forms part of National Cycle Route 9.There are a number of "off route" mountain bike trails along the towpath.
Lagan Valley is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The AONB was established in 1965 and the greater part of it lies within the Greater Belfast area.
The Lagan Valley is also the name of a constituency in the House of Commons covering Lisburn and surrounding areas, as well as the Assembly constituency in the same area.

Northern Ireland (Irish: Tuaisceart Éireann [ˈt̪ˠuəʃcəɾˠt̪ˠ ˈeːɾʲən̪ˠ]; Ulster Scots: Norlin Airlann) is a constituent unit of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the northeast of the island of Ireland. It is variously described as a country, province, region, or "part" of the United Kingdom, amongst other terms. Northern Ireland shares a border to the south and west with the Republic of Ireland. In 2011, its population was 1,810,863, constituting about 30% of the island's total population and about 3% of the UK's population. Established by the Northern Ireland Act 1998 as part of the Good Friday Agreement, the Northern Ireland Assembly holds responsibility for a range of devolved policy matters, while other areas are reserved for the British government. Northern Ireland co-operates with the Republic of Ireland in some areas, and the Agreement granted the Republic the ability to "put forward views and proposals" with "determined efforts to resolve disagreements between the two governments".

The Employment and Learning Minister was asked for his assessment of the impact of a reduction in the rate of corporation tax to 12.5% would have on the level of employment in Northern Ireland by Paul Givan MLA at the start of Oral Question Time. The Minister stated that "recent estimates by the Ulster University's economic policy centre show that a reduction to 12·5% from April 2017 could lead to an increase in employment of 38,000 jobs by 2033 compared with today. To prepare for such a lower corporation tax environment, I commissioned research that considered the impact that a lower rate would have on the demand for skills, labour and innovation capacity. That research set out the importance of developing our skills base and the employability of our people in a lower corporation tax envi...

Portland Oregon based band "Track & Field" recorded live at Lincoln high school 1984. The show is captured in its entirety with Paul DeKoning on drums/vocals, Steve Givan bass, Mike Spicer guitar, Chris Graham guitar and Enrique Arias vocals. We were on a steady diet of classic rock at the time; Rolling Stones, Clash, Police, CCR, Who etc... MTV had come out in 1981 and influenced us as well. The "Romantics" song "What I like about you" was popular on MTV and made it into our set list. At the end of the video is a rare Track & Field original "Neon Lights" taken from a 1983 rehearsal. In 2016 the band reunited for the first time in 31years and a photo of this event is captured at the end of the video. I have been producing music since 1982 and this was a great group of guys to play wit...
Questions are available on our website http://aims.niassembly.gov.uk/questions/oralresults.aspx?&sd;=21/01/2014 Minister for Finance and Personnel, Simon Hamilton, was on hand to answer Members' questions during today's Question Time. Bronwyn McGahan asked the Minister why the average household income in Northern Ireland is £2000 lower than in Britain and what he intends to do about the inequality. Mr Hamilton explained that labour productivity and issues of supply and demand are contributing factors in the discrepancy whilst also offering that the income figures for Britain are heavily influenced by London and south-east regions figures which are understandably higher. The gap will not be easy to address but that is where the Executive's economic strategy comes into play. The best way to ...
A bill to reform the legal aid system passed its second stage in the Assembly, on 8 April 2014. Last year a Criminal Justice Inspection report described the legal aid process as "not fit for purpose". Justice Minister David Ford said the Legal Aid and Coroners' Courts Bill would address they system's shortcomings by "improving access to justice, improving governance and bringing it within budget". He said the bill would effectively dissolve the Northern Ireland Legal Services Commission (NILSC), which was responsible for the administration of legal aid, and its functions and staff would be transferred to an executive agency within the Department of Justice. It would ensure safeguards to protect the independence of individual decisions on the grant of civil legal aid. Justice Committee...
Higher education, youth unemployment and apprenticeships were all discussed during questions to the Minister for Employment and Learning. Dr Farry stated that his "Department will be commencing the review of the maximum student number (MaSN) formula in early 2014. As Members are aware, MaSN is currently used as a means of controlling student support costs and the block grant allocation to the higher education institutions." When challenged by Sandra Overend on whether the Success through Skills — Transforming Futures strategy was a duplicate of the Further Education Means Business (FEMB) strategy, the Minister stated that FEMB will undergo a review during 2014 and that Success through Skills should be seen as the overarching document when it comes to the activity of his Department. A rev...

Heigh ho
Who is there?
No one but me my dear.
Please come
Say how do the things I'll give to you?
A stroke as gentle as a feather
I'll catch a rainbow from the sky and tie the ends together
Heigh ho
I am here
Am I not young and fair?
Please come
Say how do the things I'll show to you?
Would you have a wondrous sight?
The midday sun at midnight
Fair maid, white and red,
Comb you smooth and stroke your head
How a maid can milk a bull
