U.S. Route 19 (US 19) is a north–south U.S. Highway. Despite encroaching Interstate Highways, the route has remained a long-haul route, connecting the Gulf of Mexico with Lake Erie.
The highway's southern terminus is at Memphis, Florida, which is just south of St. Petersburg at an intersection with U.S. Route 41. Its northern terminus is in Erie, Pennsylvania, at an intersection with U.S. Route 20 about two miles (3 km) from the shores of Lake Erie.
The length of the highway is 1,438 miles (2,314 km), including both U.S. Route 19E/U.S. Route 19W paths through North Carolina and Tennessee.
US 19 runs 264 miles (425 km) along Florida's west coast from an interchange with US 41 in Memphis, south of St. Petersburg, and continues to the Georgia border north of Monticello. US 19 remains independent of I-75, even as the routes converge in the Tampa Bay Area. The route is co-signed with I-275 over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, a cable-stayed bridge over the mouth of Tampa Bay, US 98 between Chassahowitzka and Perry, US 27 Alt. between Chiefland and Perry, and US 27 between and Perry and Capps.
U.S. Route 19 (US 19) is a U.S. Highway that travels from Memphis, Florida to Erie, Pennsylvania. In the U.S. state of Georgia, it runs 348 miles (560 km) from the Florida state line south of Thomasville, Georgia, through Atlanta, to the North Carolina state line at a point north of Lake Nottely.
US 19 enters Georgia just south of Thomasville. It continues north, passing through Zebulon, Thomaston, Ellaville, Americus, and Albany. It joins US 41 and proceeds north to Griffin. It then proceeds through the western tip of Henry County, passing through Hampton, home of the Atlanta Motor Speedway. US 19 continues north through Clayton County where it joins SR 3 and is known as Tara Boulevard, before entering Atlanta.
The road then turns north again and splits from US 41 after passing through downtown Atlanta and traveling on 14th Street. It becomes Spring Street in Midtown before continuing north on Peachtree Street and then SR 9 (Roswell Road). After several miles, it intersects with SR 141 in Buckhead. It follows Roswell Road north through the city of Sandy Springs and leaves Atlanta from the north side of the city. At the interchange with I-285's north side, it splits from SR 9.
U.S. Route 19 (US 19) is a part of the U.S. Highway System that runs from Memphis, Florida to Erie, Pennsylvania. In Virginia, the U.S. Highway runs 88.89 miles (143.05 km) between a pair of twin cities: Bristol, Tennessee and Bristol, Virginia at the Virginia–Tennessee state line, and Bluefield and Bluefield at the Virginia – West Virginia state line. Between its endpoints, US 19 has lengthy concurrencies with US 11, US 58 Alternate, and US 460 during its course connecting Abingdon, Lebanon, and Tazewell within Washington, Russell, and Tazewell counties in Southwest Virginia.
US 19 enters Virginia concurrent with US 11E at State Street, which follows the Virginia–Tennessee state line as the main street of Bristol, Virginia to the north and Bristol, Tennessee to the south and forms the easternmost part of SR-1 west of the intersection. The two U.S. Highways and SR 381 head north along Commonwealth Avenue, a four-lane divided highway that intersects Goode Street one block north of the state line; Goode Street carries US 421 and both US 11 Truck and US 19 Truck through the Bristol Commercial Historic District. US 19, US 11E, US 421, and SR 381 meet the southern end of SR 113 at separate intersections: Cumberland Street carries northbound SR 113 east and Sycamore Street carries the westbound direction. The four highways continue north to east–west Euclid Avenue, where US 11E has its northern terminus. SR 381 continues north along Commonwealth Avenue to the southern end of I-381, a spur south from I-81. Westbound Euclid Avenue heads west carrying northbound US 421 and southbound US 11W. US 19 turns east to join US 11 on eastbound Euclid Avenue.
My daddy came a-marchin'
Over the hill at dawn
Had to make that wage, man
That's how we got along
My daddy's life was workin'
Workin' all day long
Put food on the table
And the children sang a song
Yes, the children sang a song
My granddad's name was Pulpwood
Wore a coat of green
Took a wife in '31
Drove the big machine
My daddy load the lumber
Put it on the truck
I used to see him walkin' home
On U.S. 41
That's right, U.S. 41
Well, all my life's been workin'
Out the door and gone
Got to make that overtime
Keep us movin' on
I need a drink of water
Get out of the sun
Burnin' up to make that wage
That's right, U.S. 41
The boss man owns the business
Keeps it goin' strong
Blowin' like a hurricane
And work like nothing wrong
We got to keep on movin'
'Til the bell gone ring
Fill her up with kerosene
And let that lady sing
Whoa, now let that lady sing
His given name was Lucky
His wife's name, Annie Brown
Ran outside the law
And they chased him right on down
Lucky faced the lawman
The captain drew his gun
They put him with a sling blade
On U.S. 41
That's right, U.S. 41
Yeah, that's right
On U.S. 41
My daddy came a-marchin'
Over the hill at dawn
