A full length, real time full flight video from London Heathrow to Zurich, onboard Swiss Airbus A321 HB-IOM operating flight LX317 on 30 January 2016.
Due to the late inbound arrival of the aircraft, we missed our slot at Heathrow and had to wait at the gate for a short time, before pushing back and joining the queue for runway 27L. After several aircraft depart ahead of us we line up and power off of Heathrow's runway 27L, making a left turn following the Detling 2F departure towards Dover. We maintain 6,000ft as per the SID which gets us a great view of Gatwick Airport before we continue our climb up to an eventual altitude of 37,000ft. We cross the English Channel towards Belgium, before continuing on to Luxembourg, eastern France and finally Switzerland, where we make a beautiful approach and landing onto runway 14 at Zurich.

This outside mounted camera filmed the whole flight.
Unfortunately that day was in early fall and rather warm, more than 15° C. So the jet couldn't climb that high as it usually does, 20km. Remember, Edge of Space flights are best in winter when the air is cold.

Terrific Flight: Tenerife is a tropical island of the Canary Islands, Spain is located off the northwestern Africa. Not only is known as a "paradise" where the earth with 5 million visitors each year, the name was associated with the Tenerife crash the worst aviation history, also known as Tenerife disaster. The incident took place in March and 37 years ago in Tenerife North Airport - formerly known as Los Rodeos airport. 2 Boeing 747 aircraft carrying a total of 644 passengers and crew crashed into each other at the runway, killing 583, injuring 61 people. This is also the number of accidents have killed more people in the history of aviation.
This video will narrate events and find out the cause of the tragedy in Tenerife.
Each plane crash are derived from one or more causes. It can be listed as the cause of terrorism, maintenance errors, bad weather, technical failures, due to pilot error ... but the crash in Tenerife meet most of these factors.
The KLM 4805 collided with Pan Am 1736. Although the aircraft nose landing gear before of the KLM 4805 has passed but the fuselage was ripped starboard fuselage of Pan Am 1736 . 2 landing gear and two right engines of KLM 4805 impaled on the floor of the Pan Am 1736. Although KLM 4805 is still working forward after collision but the crash was so severe that the engine number 1 outside on the right and crashed out of the KLM 4805, metal debris being sucked into the engine number 2 inside right and destroyed almost the entire wing. KLM 4805 aircraft quickly lost control and crashed into a runway collision location 150m and continue to slide further 300 m length. With full fuel, Boeing 747 of KLM 4805 quickly caught fire and exploded.

On July 25, 2000 a Concorde supersonic jet operating as Air France Flight 4590 takes off from Charles de Gaulle International Airport. A piece of metal from another aircraft left on the runway impales the Concorde's tyre, which explodes and debris is flung into the wing, causing a fire, and its crash into a hotel in Gonesse, killing the 100 passengers and nine crew members on board, as well as four others in the hotel.
The flight was chartered by German company Peter Deilmann Cruises; the passengers were on their way to board the cruise ship MS Deutschland in New York City for a 16-day cruise to Manta, Ecuador. This was the only fatal Concorde accident during its 27-year operational history. It was the beginning of the end for Concorde as an airliner; the type was retired three years later.

Flight length
In aviation, the flight length is defined as the time airborne during a flight. There are four categories, short-haul, medium-haul, long-haul and ultra long-haul.
Distinctions
Absolute distance versus flight length
A flight is typically planned to follow a direct route wherever possible to minimise flight length. For long-haul flights, the most direct route follows a great circle along the diameter of the Earth. For example, aircraft travelling westward between continents in the northern hemisphere often follow paths extending northward near or into the Arctic region. When shown on a conventional projection of a world map, the resulting route looks curved and appears longer than it really is. The great-circle distance between airports may therefore give a better indication of the shortest flight length.
However, a flight route must also take into account weather conditions, air currents, and fuel economy. A long-haul flight in an easterly direction often takes a longer more southerly route than the great circle in order to take advantage of the jet stream, a high-altitude wind that can allow an aircraft to cover a longer absolute distance using less fuel than on a more direct route.

After several aircraft depart ahead of us we line up and power off of Heathrow's runway 27L, making a left turn following the Detling 2F departure towards Dover. We maintain 6,000ft as per the SID which gets us a great view of Gatwick Airport before we continue our climb up to an eventual altitude of 37,000ft. We cross the English Channel towards Belgium, before continuing on to Luxembourg, eastern France and finally Switzerland, where we make a beautiful approach and landing onto runway 14 at Zurich.

The incident took place in March and 37 years ago in Tenerife North Airport - formerly known as Los Rodeos airport. 2 Boeing 747 aircraft carrying a total of 644 passengers and crew crashed into each other at the runway, killing 583, injuring 61 people. This is also the number of accidents have killed more people in the history of aviation.
This video will narrate events and find out the cause of the tragedy in Tenerife.
Each plane crash are derived from one or more causes. It can be listed as the cause of terrorism, maintenance errors, bad weather, technical failures, due to pilot error ... but the crash in Tenerife meet most of these factors.
The KLM 4805 collided with Pan Am 1736. Although the aircraft nose landing gear before of the KLM 4805 has passed but the fuselage was ripped starboard fuselage of Pan Am 1736 . 2 landing gear and two right engines of KLM 4805 impaled on the floor of the Pan Am 1736. Although KLM 4805 is still working forward after collision but the crash was so severe that the engine number 1 outside on the right and crashed out of the KLM 4805, metal debris being sucked into the engine number 2 inside right and destroyed almost the entire wing. KLM 4805 aircraft quickly lost control and crashed into a runway collision location 150m and continue to slide further 300 m length. With full fuel, Boeing 747 of KLM 4805 quickly caught fire and exploded.

On July 25, 2000 a Concorde supersonic jet operating as Air France Flight 4590 takes off from Charles de Gaulle International Airport. A piece of metal from another aircraft left on the runway impales the Concorde's tyre, which explodes and debris is flung into the wing, causing a fire, and its crash into a hotel in Gonesse, killing the 100 passengers and nine crew members on board, as well as four others in the hotel.
The flight was chartered by German company Peter Deilmann Cruises; the passengers were on their way to board the cruise ship MS Deutschland in New York City for a 16-day cruise to Manta, Ecuador. This was the only fatal Concorde accident during its 27-year operational history. It was the beginning of the end for Concorde as an airliner; the type was retired three years later.

Soaring is the process of collecting energy from the wind during flight with an aerial platform. Animal studies have demonstrated that large birds can significantly extend their flight duration by soaring in favourable wind conditions. Flight from Dubai to Zurich on Emirates Airlines Boeing 777-300ER. Flight duration was about 6 hours and altitude about 38'000 feet. Due to some unknown reason the plane was almost empty with a payload of only 20-30% (estimated). Less passengers means better service with Emirates. Both food choices were still available and I had a lot of privacy and space. If this was an ultra long haul flight I would have slept in the middle for a while ;) Please don't hesitate to ask for further information and enjoy! This entire flight was made with the Immersionrc control system Tx on low power.
