Here are some still shots of Chevak, AK. Chevak is a bush (rural) village about 15 miles east of the Bering Sea. The closest villages are Hooper Bay and Scammon Bay, both about 20 miles. From Anchorage you fly to Bethel the hub community and from there head to Chevak. The River and Sea are extremely important to the lively hood of the Cup'ik people that live here. Tundra, berries, moose, seal, Fish, and other native foods along with the local grocery stores all help these people survive. Chevak is a friendly village and is a beautiful place to be!!! As long as you can handle the treeless tundra. And contrary to outsiders beliefs about everywhere in Alaska, the sun rises and sets everyday even in the winter here in Chevak.
